You need to do more than 1 day or week events. You need to fix insecurity so tourist can visits for vacation. What you have is few business-type visitors attending events and conferences - not tourist. Tourist should stay at least for 2 weeks. Your one-day visitors doesn't count as tourism

Closer to home we have two interesting examples. Tanzania avoided the plague of tribalism and religious divisions that continue to haunt us. We don’t know what tribe Magufuli is and the Tanzanians don’t seem to care. Is there one national leader in Kenya whose tribe you don’t know? Yet Tanzania with triple our arable land, minerals all over the country and blessed with so much more than Kenya has less than half our GDP. Despite the liberalization of the 1990’s they have still not managed to shake off the Socialist mentality that impedes fast decision making necessary for successful business development.

Rwanda is a classic example of what can go so wrong in so short a time. Who can forget the genocide of 1994? That’s what bad politics can do. Lest we forget, we came close to the abyss in 2008. Nations can implode so fast. Look at the former Yugoslavia where neighbors slaughtered each other almost overnight. Then good leadership can heal the wounds. Kagame chose reconciliation over revenge and Rwanda is celebrated internationally as a success story. It’s a story of visionary leadership. From genocide to unity

What you claim to earn more is foreign receipts - but our tourism sector is big - we have huge domestic tourism - Tanzania are too poor to visit Serengeti or Zanzibar - and spend money in tourist lodges. Kenya when it had troubles with Alshabab and related election violence worked on it's domestic tourism that pretty much - now - helps hotel industry during off-peak season.

Which is why Kenya earn more than twice - TZ in tourism sector. I think only South Africa and Nigeria (entirely domestic) are bigger.

Absolutely would be nice to have Accra host this. Ghana has been one of most pan-african and progressive nation - that is generally friendly to nearly all nations - except their big armpit of Africa (Nigeria).

Ghana also would also integrate francophone Africa.

Addis can keep the political seat - but trade seat can go to Ghana or even Rwanda or Kenya.

Obviously Kenya - has the financial center (Nairobi) that can make trade easy but we already have the UNEP & UN-HABITAT - that should be good enough for us.

Ghana or Kigali works for me - but Kagame can be divisive - so Ghana ought to win this.
