Microsoft to establish Africa Dev Center in Nairobi - and possibly nigeria https://news.microsoft.com/en-xm/2019/05/10/furthering-our-investment-in-africa-microsoft-opens-first-africa-development-centre-in-kenya-and-nigeria/ |
I was wondering why they covered it - thanks for the info. Jonraid: |
Unfortunately for you Maasai Mara is famous - and Serengeti lies in it's shadow - just like Tanzania lies in the shadow of smaller kenya. TZ is about twice as big as Kenya but we know it's about half as poor. Kazikazi: |
Kenya is making huge progress against poverty. A decade ago it was around 46% poverty rate - now it down to 29% - and in a decade - we may lift another 15% out of poverty - to reach around 15% poverty rate - which would be awesome. Now look at Nigeria poverty is increasing - nearly half nigerians are extremely poor - and I think poverty rate is something close to 60%. It was better 10 yrs ago when Oil was retailing at 140 dollars a barrel - now it's as bad as Niger or Chad. Toju200: |
Hahaha. Hiyo Airport Hatari kweli. gallivant: |
Those are crazy stats. Just when I thought Kenya was bad - I think out debt servicing is around 30%(6B dollars) to revenues(20B dollars) - and right now we are mostly refinancing. How do you get anything done with 70% of all revenues servicing debts? No wonder you hear tales of unpaid salaries and pensions - nobody in kenya has ever heard of such stories ever. Just30: |
He was trying to pull the usual nigeria scam on kenyans - putting a cement factory is non-event - he should quietly come - and get started - you don't need any special license or authority to put up a cement plant in kenya. Why would he be approaching politicians if he wasn't interested in favours. I have seen likes of Rai, Devki and Simba - put cement factories - without any news. GERALD710: |

Kisumu - 3rd City (Kenya has five cities (with city charter) - Nairobi,Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru) - and of course hundreds of towns.
Nairobi Kilimani - business cum residential district
Nairobi indeed has slums. Lagos and all Nigeria cities are slumpolis. Big difference. Your entire cities are slummish... a hodgepodge of ugly concrete structures devoid of any planning, zoning and even vegatation AskiaHarem: |
Why does it get consistently ranked with Lagos as amongst the worst cities to live in. Abuja is a monumental waste of money... edon21: |
Nairobi without any oil or gold -
Comparing Nairobi with slumpolis of Nigeria is waste of time.
Nairobi miles ahead of any slumpolis from Naija.
Nairobi is miles ahead of any of your slumpolis. Nairobi is not congested - Nairobi has lots of greenery everywhere, 2 huge forests, a huge animal park, and is indeed a very beautiful city - with some of best offices spaces, residential areas, malls, name it. edon21:
Nairobi - competing with Joburg - not any of shitty Nigeria slumpolis
Nairobi street level - Shitty Nigeria can only dream of this.
Nairobi Upperhill - Shitty Nigeria got nothing near this.

More Nairobi Angles

Nearly 1B rail investment that transport 400 passengers to the airport and another 400 back daily. What monumental waste of money. jaycent: |
We are getting BRT soon - here are the buses. We have countless flyovers. We will real functional cable cars before you calabar nonsense makes any profit. jaycent:
Nairobi Westland - Home of Safaricom Safaricom office - Safaricom made nearly 900M dollars in profit (just 100M) shy from becoming 1B dollar profit company. Revenue - Sh240 billion (2.4B dollars) Pre-tax profit - Sh89.6 billion (900M dollars) After tax profit - Sh 63.4 billion (630M dollars)
Nairobi Eastland - some of the worst part of Nairobi look better than any part of Nigeria.
