You cannot afford shoes. Bata is global company. Fatima runs her thing and she is queen. I should also come and become a king...sit my bum on the golden stool and excrete golden stool. That Briton who threatened to sit on the golden stool unless he is given golden bars is a legend.Just40: |
There is a kenyan lady who run your shoes industry and one who run your advertsing. Fatima - run Ghana advertising. She moved to Bidco Uganda - then co-partner to Ghana and Ivory coast - now run her own advertising brand - uniliver is her client In Africa - FMCG (fast moving goods) - it's Uniliver, Tiger South Africa and Bidco kenya She is now a queen - and primitive Ghana society must acquiescence to kings and queens.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAbsu82rfl4 Just40: |
I dont know if Nigeria music has finally penetrated Matatu matwana. I doubt they can meet their standards - for years it either kenya genge or american rap/soul/pop. Nigerian type of music for most of them is lame music. I have a week to go Nairobi. Nairobi has one craziest night life....from club to public transport...its crazy. New governor is taking action back to the main city center. Nobody lives in the main city - so all the crazy noises is okay. One matatu can buy 20 -30 dafno. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcGz1QLt95I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34SOoYmCw8U |
Worth watching documentary on kenya - african-american, lgbt+ in kenya, kenya urban culture and many other issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fnh5oH5AVv4 |
I am hurting you now. Piercing your ego. Pricking your poor conscience. I suggest you enrol in some online courses. Learning is a life time committment to improve yourself. Dont be proud to be ignorant. obaaderemi: |
Kenyan company starts in Mombasa - and expand all the way to Nigeria. That is kenyan company. I can name others like Kenya Airways, Kenya Re-Insurances, etc. Kenya Re is the oldest reinsurer in Eastern and Central Africa and serves over 265 insurances companies in 62 countries across Africa, the Middle East and Asia with over 50 percent of its revenue being generated from foreign markets.[2] The firm provides reinsurance products to both life and general insurance.[3] Kenya Re is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. obaaderemi: |
Obaboon - I dont insult. Numbers in my brain DANCE. They have a life. Almost all the numbers I roll come from my memory. This is greek to you but only savants understand this. obaaderemi: |
Kenyan of Indian descent. That is what good education does to your mind. The indians in Nigerians are indians. Those being shipped by Dangote in boatloads are INDIANS. Those in kenya are 5th generation Indians who came to kenya to build kenya railway and stayed behind. That is from 1890 to now....130yrs. obaaderemi: |
I make my living as software engineer - and maths is an essential skills. I roll numbers out of my mind. You have to get a calculator to compete with my mental maths. The come and proclaim he is wrong ![]() Like I told you Obaboon - I was a math savant growing up. The entire primary school use to sit back and marvel at my mental maths abilities...and by high school..I was nicknamed computer...and I hadnt even seen a real life computer. obaaderemi: |
Chandaria is not a kenyan? Based on what. He is 93 yrs and has lived all his life in kenya - and is as kenyan as one can think of - run his congolemerate from kenya. His father was born in Kenya and died here. His grandfather died in Kenya. Chandaria is a trail blazer - and on it's wake are many kenya - black as sooth - business. Already in ALORA in lagos kenya companies are starting to move. As for your banks - they are HOPELESS - and useless. Why would you expand to Kenya a very very competitive economy? Kenya business enviroment is brutal - on competition alone. obaaderemi: |
One of the brilliant kenya lawyer PLO - nails Obaboon like jelly on the wall maxim de minimis non curat lex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrptDwWxFb8 Kenya education has no equal in Africa outside Mauritus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhEtDXLBaQg |
When you're scrapping the bottom of the barrel trying to compete with giants - you'll trying to find a missing comma or here - to assure yourself that he is human afterall. Just today you friend wanted to make a meal out of NPP. My maths skills are beyond reproach. I remember PLO saying Maxim de minimis non curat lex, “law is not concerned with small things.” . Facts are not concerned with small things - missing comma or estimation. Again Chinua Achebe can win 10 literature Nobel Laurate - that doesnt mean Nigeria Literature is great. It's just mean Chinua is great. Like Wole Soyinka wrote the tiger doesn't pronounce it's tigritude ; it pounces. We are talking the average Nigeria on the streets on Nairaland versus average Kenyan. obaaderemi: |
Let assume that Kenya Airways has not be carrying you for donkey years. We generally dont jump or fly - except for KQ Our regional expansion is well thought out and strategic We dont just run around like headless chicken like Nigeria or recklessly burn capital like South Africa. We work on regional expansion that is profitable - in 3yrs max. We started from Uganda and Tanzania. We have moved now to 10 countries. With AFCTA - you will see Kenya companies. We are now ready for continental expansion. And it wont be one company. It will be at minimum 2,000 companies... Tanzania has kicked kenyans but we still have 500 companies there. This is not few companies. Once kenya companies arrive in West Africa - it will be for everything. What you saw from Chandaria - Towers - building 10 factories - now imagine 10 companies in each sub-sector all competing to expand. obaaderemi: |
There is a lot of I didnt not know. You're not alone. I have seen Youtube video of many Nigerians and other Africa. Totally ignorant. Only Kenyans know their shiet...and this because we have AFRICA BEST education. We've seen it all here - the English prose, the poor sentence construction, the bad spoken English and name it. This can never happen in any kenyan forum. All this reflect why companies rather come to Kenya. This second thread - we kicked your gonads in the other one until you had it killed. This one too I dont see it surviving...even if you had to come here just for the title. To be very honest - for almost every kenyan here - this is perhaps their most enjoyable forum engagment - I personally have never interracted with more stupid people in my life than in Nairaland ![]() In kenya forums - you can sweat! Kenyans are very brilliant and educated folks. I dont think you guys will last say a hour in kenya forum or kenya twitter. Moi might have been everything incompetent - but he sure never dropped the ball on education. Kenya critical thinking skills, communication and aptitude is the reason why it's magnet for companies. obaaderemi: |
Precisely - These are fintech startups - with lifetime of a dung fly. You cannot compare to kenya companies that have expanded regionally since 1990s. gallivant: |
There is enough context (oil and gas) - NP - Nigeria Petroleum - for you to make sense of this. You want to drag me to your level so you can have a chance. Trust me I will beat you in the sea, land and air. GeneralDae2: |
Fintech - a new thing with ICT - you're doing okay - as good as kenya - just like with banking. Anything else you're NOWHERE. Those are plain old facts. Kenya regional expansion is profound. Only South Africa can speak. GeneralDae2: |
It's insulting to compare kenya with Nigeria because even when it come to simple Oil and Gas - kenya companies dominate the region - all the way to Mozambique in south - South Sudan in the North. Even Central Africa - Kenya trucks are now going there. Why cant you even hack the OIL and GAS business? I saw one Nigeria company being bought by NPP - I think it had 10 gas stations ![]() You're just ignorant and proud of it. Kenya outside South Africa - is the regional economic powerhouse. Nigeria - your banks are doing okay - the rest of the sectors - you are DEAD as DODO. Go to about 10 of these regional countries - Kenya is top 1-5 investor/trading/name it. obaaderemi: |
I am not suprised..when you peel Dangote and BUA...you get a sea of Indians... gallivant: |
Let says before I discovered Nigeria forum I had no life ![]() I am here to inform And I think I have done such a good job. Most of you were totally sold out to this idea that Nigeria is a giant and Kenya is poor. The thing I know about Kenyans - nobody is proud of ignorance - and kenyans are very very worldy people. You should ask the Tanzanians here. We know stuff. Our education teaches us stuff. Most of you in Nigerians are ignorant and proud of it. Look at you obaboon... I am here to help you. Most of you west african have empty brain...whose only ambition is to escape to US or Europe or Asia. obaaderemi: |
List one by each economic sub-sector. They dont exist. What exist are Igbo petty traders selling car spare parts and such kind of informal business. In kenya almost every sub-sector they are at least 10 regional players. obaaderemi: |
Ruto launched the revolutionary Hustler Fund - and 48 hours later. 6.5Million kenyans have registered. Look likely it could get to all the 30m adult kenyans by the weekend end. The Hustler Fund - features low interest (almost zero if you borrow and repay within 14days) - 8 percent annually -0.002% daily- but most importantly every 5% is banked into saving & pension plan. Similar product Fuliza in 3yrs is now loaning out 5B dollars..with only 7 million customers. This one could get into trillions Ksh easily but most important apart from providing low interest micro-loans it will build pension plans for almost every kenyan - informal or not. Kenya gross saving is about 13% to GDP - very low compared to global average of 25% - and this will likely add almost 5% - reducing the needs to borrow from Chinese and others. Update - 3:00 PM Amount disbursed= 2,064,100,521 (up from 1.6b at 11am today) Total Repayment: 75,809,412 ( Up from 49.7m) Opted in customers= 6,449,726 Total transactions= 3,542,221 Transactions Per Second (TPS) = 283 Hustler Fund is about bringing dignity and wealth to bottom of the society - the large informal sector - giving every low interest loan - mandatory savings - and pension fund. To qutoe someone. Hustler Fund is GoK starting a HR department for informal sector --> mandatory pension + matching benefits + biweekly wage + real time KPI (credit score) Great Idea. It should work and perhaps be a model to bootstrap other African markets.

Picture break as Nigerians are unable to name any company outside Dangote and Banking sector that is scaling regional leave alone continental heights. The idea of igbo petty trader as businessman is archaic.

Kenya GDP PPP last i check was approaching 300B...probably it hard to keep it upto date. South Africa are facing middle class trap. And I dont see how it will escape...now with 40% joblessness, immigration mess, corrupt ANC and now ESKOM. Post Ramaphosa...look likely gone. Look like Zuma or one his many wives could be in contention ![]() jl115: |
Not a long booring debate on GDP PPP ![]() Ten yrs ago: Kenya GDP was not even 40B; Today as we close 2022; we are likely to get 120B: South Africa is stuck where it has been since 2010 and will be in 2030...400B...lows of 350..highs of 450. Middle class trap is real. Only Mauritius has escaped it South Africa is facing LATAM situation. jl115: |
Let me add Innoson. Although I doubt they manufacturer a button - but at least they claim to be exporting cars/ This is what we want to see. Small SME in Nigeria expand in their states... Then expand couples of states..they are now medium company Soon it's national in all states of Nigeria...they are now a national corp Soon it's open a branch in Benin, Togo, Cameroon...they are now sub-regional corp It expands to Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Niger, Chad,...they are regional Soon it all over Africa...they are now continental company. And soon like South Africa SAB - or kenya comcraft - expand worldwide - become MNC Good examples..Nigeria continental Banks. Maybe we can Jumia ![]() But something like Insurance - Nigeria is completely BLANK Kenya and South Africa it almost every sector That is how you will become economic giants of Africa. Otherwise you'll become the entertaintment giants with DRC...one for anglophone africa and the other francophone. As of now South Africa is on a retreat - and Kenya is expanding. 10yrs Kenya companies will be running Africa and Nairobi will become Africa HQ - it will huge mega city - not huge slum like Kinshasasa or Lagos - but huge metropolis with 100 floors building - housing Africa HQ where someone will be managing Mauratania in 1st floor...Nigeria in 10th floor...and South Africa in the 99th floor. As for Nigeria - it will be sending petty traders to Africa to sell used car spare parts and smuggled substandard products.- while dabbling in drugs and entertaining Africans with intricate dance moves ![]() Kenyans will be sending proffesionals to manage their subsidaries all over Africa - like is now happening in 10 regional countries in almost every sector. |
These usual hyped list of nonsense. Please give me real business. I think you had some interest in manufacturing. Good example Dangote and your banks. Where are similar companies ![]() ![]() ??

|
This is hilarious. None of this qualify for the criteria I asked. 68816419: |
It very simple list Nigeria companies outside Dangote, BUA, and the top banks. Nothing. Hustle4Naira: |
South Africa give you MTN - you send them petty traders and drug dealers. That is NOT how this is suppose to work. Kenyans are not petty traders in Kigali or Kampala. Kenya business are doing legit business as subsidiaries or branches. Anyway at least you're exporting music and movies like DRC you're not totally useless |
I am interested in Nigerian companies with at least a branch even in Cotonou city of Benin Republic or Bamenda in Cameroon..or just across the border. First of all you'd have to beat South Africans before kenya companies arrived. They are already arriving in ALORA ![]() If you join africa free trade area - relax the crazy import banning of goods - 5yrs from now - you'll be buying goods from kenya or made by kenya company. You steel and aluminium is already run by Kenya Towers Group - I think they have 10 factories ![]() GeneralDae: |
I was hoping you'll learn something and transition from being petty traders or gov backed monopolies like Dangote into real business. If Nigeria was up it's game - their business empire would rival South Africa. As we speak it's South Africa - then Kenya - that is holding Africa. MTN, DSTV, Stanbic, name it as big business in Nigeria. After 5-10yrs of Africa free Trade - with South Africa retreat - kenya companies will run Africa. GeneralDae: |
