Wow!!
Nigeria and Japan have many similar things. Same words, but different meaning etc. Really interesting!
I will check about ORI. I hope I can find out!!

Thank you so much for sharing.
I appreciate you!
Nope you might not find just “ORI” online but you can search for “ olajumoke and ORI “ (ORI means Head) or you ask any Yoruba elder he/she will know the story
By the way you're welcome smiley

I am not exaggerating but the ones near the London Botanical Gardens are the Size of geese these ones can't be less than 5 kg ( female) with little ducklings following them about, males are like 7 kg

When I saw them I thought wpw we need these ducks in Nigeria they are slightly bigger than our own Muscovy ducks

And they seem to be completely looking after themselves
Wow I’d love to have something like that they’ve broken the standard of the Rouen already
It’ll be nice to have them here in Nigeria sir.
Plus you sound familiar?! Have we talked on phone/WhatsApp before?!

Rouens and Mallards look alike but the Rouens are proper heavy farmyard type ducks they are almost the size of geese

Rouens are like four times the Size of the wild Mallards I don't think they can fly
Rouens can’t fly but don’t compare them with the size of domestic geese except of course you mean wild geese because
Rouens weigh btw 3.6-4kg in size while
Domestic geese weigh up to 10kg
Wild geese are much smaller though and weigh less

I have seen Rouen ducks in London Parks before kept as Ornamental ducks they do hatch and care for their young that is why they multiply fast and effortlessly just like our Muscovy ducks
Hope you're not confusing Rouens with mallards cos they're very alike?! They both have the same coloration,it’s quite confusing if you don’t check out the features carefully

Christistruth00:
Rouens are good mothers and they are mallard derived ducks
There is a difference between being a good mother and being able to hatch their eggs on their own
Well if you say so why not try it out and see for yourself?! They say experience is better than something you checked up online,it's a rare phenomenon to find a broody one that is willing to stay on the eggs till they hatch not all farmers can risk that but you can try If you can bear the loss.... I've been working with em for a while they'll rather lay their eggs and leave

More Advantages of duck farming
-Most people are not aware of the fact that ducks are quite easier to rear compared to chickens
-Ducks have a low mortality rate and require less medical attention/treatment
-Ducks produce close to 300 eggs per year making them much more economical
-For breeders you can start with as low as 10 adult birds and end up with maximum of 2000 birds at the end of the year
-When housing ducks all you need to do is provide a water source in or out of the barn and make it accessible to your birds
-Ducks do not solely depend on humans for their feed that’s why it’s advisable and profitable to practice a free range farming for ducks. They are experts in getting their protein source needed to grow naturally (their favorite diet includes snails, oysters, worms, insects, grubs, small fishes e.t.c)
-Foreign ducks do not fly away as their wing to body weight ratio doesn’t allow them to
-Duck meat looks and tastes more like beef meat and the eggs are twice as big and protenous as chicken eggs.
-Ducks will lay properly even if they’re not being fed with layers feed, just make sure they’re getting their required daily feeding/grazing...(to be continued)

Update

So Aslan join the morning walk (though he doesn’t go far yet I’m still trying to build his confidence) .He’s been hanging out with the big girls though he’s always looking for trouble undecided

I also noticed Mabel accepts him within her personal space infact I started walking both of them two days ago at the same time (both hands) and there’s been no issue between the both of them except for them jumping around (due to excitement) whenever we want to go for a walk.-Ryeo’s perspective
Happy sunday

30. JABBERWOCKY

Okay. nice.

Okay so how do big companies that want to keep security in check do it? a case where they is a new security guard every month how do they do it?
Well I’m not sure but if you ask me, it might depend on the breed of dogs and how they were trained
Secondly in such cases it’s advisable to employ a professional handler that knows about Dogs
And besides I don’t think it’s everyone that’ll have access to the dog and it would take time, the individual will be introduced to the dog gradually until it accepts the individual, it can’t happen spontaneously.

And then again some dogs are very well trained that they can stay calm till they detect danger (they say dogs can read your intentions/emotions). I’ve come across German shepherds who are so aggressive in defending their homes against intruders but outside of their territory they stay calm, even walk off leash amongst people but you can’t try that with a Caucasian or a Rottweiler (they tend to be much more aggressive/protective of their personal space and owners). In cases like that a good German shepherd is your best and safest bet.

Yes about the security...is it true that if you buy a big dog for security purpose you can't tame it in a short while in cases of I just got robbed and need urgent security.
someone told me it may end up hurting me. I told him it's a lie
About that it’s not really advisable as a first timer to get an adult dog, because it’s much more easier for you to forge a bond with a puppy than you would with an adult dog.
Secondly security dogs are often trained/brought up to ward off strangers (in which case you are one except you must’ve been introduced to the dog in question at some point and it has accepted/acknowledged your presence as being friendly otherwise you might find it difficult as a first timer to tame an adult dog)

PetsRe: What Breed Of Dog Should I Get by RYEOFARMS(m): 3:01pm On Sep 30, 2021
First thing you should ask yourself is “why do you want a dog?!” This will definitely lead you onto the next question “what is your budget like?!” And then again “can you handle a dog with a high work drive?!” Or you prefer friendly/parlor dogs?!
There’s a lot to consider when getting a dog but if you succeed in answering those questions above we @ R.A.W can guide you (consultation is totally free)
There are different types of dogs bred for different purposes so you have to be specific in choosing

Because you can’t buy an Eskimo and expect it to guard your home undecided
And you can’t buy a Caucasian and expect it to welcome strangers into the house

29. Tsurube Otoshi
The Tsurube Otoshi is a creature of myth in Japanese legends In the form of a head with no body. They are said to drop from above the trees and attack, and even devour humans.
They are quite similar to the ORI in our folktale the story of OLAJUMOKE

28. THESTRAL
The Thestral is a breed of winged horse with a skeletal body, face with reptilian features, and wide, leathery wings that resemble a bat's. They were native to the British Isles and Ireland, though they had been spotted in parts of France and the Iberian Peninsula. They are very rare, and were considered dangerous by the British Ministry of Magic.Thestrals were, undeservedly, known as omens of misfortune and aggression by many wizards because they were visible only to those who had witnessed death at least once or due to their somewhat grim, gaunt and ghostly appearance.
Thestrals had quite a disturbing appearance and the wizards who were capable of seeing them often only described these creatures as being sinister and spooky. This was because they were seen as having big, bony figures and their dragon-like faces which bore white, glittering eyes that lacked both expression and pupils. Additionally, they were lured by the scent of blood.
Being a type of winged horse, most of their anatomy was identical to a horse, excluding their large wings that sprouted from their back. Unlike the Abraxan, another breed of winged horses, Thestral's wings did not possess any feathers at all; they had vast, black and leathery wings that were more similar to those of bats. Their fleshless, lustrous bodies were covered with a translucent and glossy coat. This smooth and dark skin was a bit slippery and so thin that Thestral's bones were clearly defined through the entire extension of their sleek bodies. These eerie horses had long black manes, as well as a large tail, either with flowing black hair, like horses or ending in a tuft, like zebras. Another distinction was their sharp fangs used to seize and slash their prey.

27. WILL O WISP

Also known as “will of the wisp” is an atmospheric ghost light seen by travelers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes. The creature/existence is known in English folk belief, English folklore and much of European folklore by a variety of names, including jack-o'-lantern, friar's lantern, hinkypunk and hobby lantern and is said to mislead travelers by resembling a flickering lamp or lantern. In literature, will-o'-the-wisp metaphorically refers to a hope or goal that leads one on but is impossible to reach or something one finds sinister and weird, mostly associated with ghosts, fairies and elemental beings/spiritsi

Generally, No they aren’t
All mallard derived ducks are not good brooders
Although some individuals are known to sit on their eggs but they hardly hatch them without human intervention
The only other mallard derived breed I could vouch for in terms of brooding ability is the CAYUGA but I haven’t come across one here in Nigeria
I’ve also had people testify that their PEKINS do sit on eggs but since I’ve been handling them I’ve not witness such they’ll rather drop their eggs and leave.

But then again there’s a theory that if the ducklings are raised from birth by a broody hen or chicken they might grow up to adapt such attitude (the theory is baseless though I myself haven’t tried it)
