I think it is just a societal issue because we have refused to be civilized but as the saying goes it is only when you care to listen that it matters to you. I am of the opinion that the woman should rather hook up with a friend or get a little apartment if she has the financial muscle and move ahead with her life, Everyone is responsible for his/her own life.

NLs must we use every opportunity to whip up ethnic or religious sentiments Can`t we just sit for one`s and look at issues critically guided by values and principles and make better contributions I am beginning to think if we have inferior brains compared to our western counterparts, "Nation of idiots ruled by fools". sssssshhhhhhmmmm

Another act of irresponsible upbringing

I feel sorry for those who believe there could be real development with the high level of corruption that we have in this country, 4 years is just around the corner, na laugh i dey laugh, Deepening security and peace in Niger Delta and he failed to talk about the rising insecurity in the north. "Nation of idiots ruled by fools".

I am beginning to wonder what is wrong with this country,i just don`t understand the correlation between redeployment and the housing issue or why should a law enforcement officer reject his/her posting to another part of the country be it volatile or not. Please those that feel aggrieved should resign from the police force. "Nation of Idiots ruled by fools".

As a father, the Lagos govt should have thought of all their children, or what type of peace are you expecting when you tell your last son to take some favours from your wealth to the disadvantage of your first son who might have helped you build the wealth and you still expect to sleep well in that house? Na wao!

I  do agree that the law is one sided but i think i heard the Governor saying those that are privilege should be willing to help the less privilege to make the society a better one. The issue is a law has been passed and we are bound to obey that law as citizens of the state, i don`t seem to understand why it should be different in this country. We should please severe ourselves from this imperialist or colonial sort of thinking and attitude and liberate ourselves, we all cry to high heavens about the ineptitude of the ruling class but  we cannot obey simple law, we go to church make noise and disturb the peace of other people with loud speakers in the name of night vigils, we go to Mosque and pray 5 times a day, disturb the peace of the neighborhood with noise emanating from loud speakers by 5am in the morning, i just wonder what we learn from this places or what the Bible or Koran is all about including Jesus Christ and Mohammed, i am disgusted by the ignorance of my people. Nigerians sha! We are have to be the most selfish human beings on the planet. A government passes a law without thinking it through and some people here are talking about upholding a silly law simply because it benefits them. As you are quick to compare 'abroad' with Nigeria; I'd like you to tell me one law that has been passes which benefits/protects landlords?!

Landlords are still paying premium rates for building materials, do they get any subsidy or help from the goverments for doing what the government is supposed to do i.e. provide affordable housing ?!. Also, many of these landlords are pensioners, widow(ers) who rely on their rental income for their sustenance (since the silly government can't/won't pay their pensions). I am not a landlord, but what I have seen some tenants put their landlords through is nothing short of wicked.

In Nigeria, if you are civil with people, they treat you as if you are mugu. Mtcheww!!!

The fact is we are morally and spiritually bankrupt in this country, i will like to make it clear to you that in a civilized clime you cannot break the law you can only break yourself to comply with the law that is why the United States, Britain is what it is today that we are all cramping ourselves to go there no matter the ill treatment they give to us. I own properties here in Lagos and Port Harcourt, i have sent a circular to all my tenants in Lagos to comply with the newly passed law, my tenants are happy with me and i am happy with them. A tenant even approached me and said Oga your actions humbles me,please i am willing to pay you your normal 1yr rent and others did same but i told them "NO". If that is what i can do to make life easy for people and make Nigeria a better place i am ok with it, Do not think i have so much,i have my problems as well but that is what the law says i should do period. Don`t make decisions blindly on the basis of ethnicity,nepotism or religion. "Nation of idiots ruled by fools".

I don`t think it is ideal for the poster to pay more than what the law states, if the landlords feel aggrieved they can collectively come under an umbrella and approach the court that the law is repugnant and unacceptable rather than employing crooked means to solve the problem. We keep blaming the Government, the devil and  enemies for our problems when we are actually  the problem. The issue is whatever happens it is your fundamental right to seek redress in the law court and it does not matter how many years it will take or how the matter is handled by the corrupt judges, what matters is the fact that you are making a difference. We have remained in this abysmal state because nobody is ready to effect a change no matter how little,we talk loudly but are cowards when it comes to action. Poster,i will advice you to confront your Landlord,though humbly,respectfully and politely and tell him what the law states and if he refuses get a lawyer or report the matter to the appropriate authority. I have had a similar experience with a Landlord that keeps quitting his tenants after the expiration of their rent in 2yrs for flimsy excuses and i took the matter up when it got to me, i spent 3 yrs in the house without paying a dime and voluntarily moved out of the house after 3yrs while the matter is still in court,i can assure you that he (The landlord) is a changed man right now. I have a place for you to live that will be comfortable for you and your family and i will accept 1yr rent, if you should confront him and the matter does not go in your favor. My dear, don't mind the sacerstic guy, is like his is not matured enough to get married and he did not love his wive at the begining he is just conterplating that his wive is still going out with the ex all because she have told him that she was still goin out with the guy before they got married that was why he is stiffing his noise on her wives private activities. He those not trust his wive simple. What about those of us that married nurses like my wive i trust her and she knows that and that is why she feels free to tell me things at work how she operates and handles men and womens private parts etc at work, you all knows doctors and what the can do, but for me? who cares.

Thank you my Brother, my wife has not made any effort to see me,her father only took her to the Registry to demand for the custody of the children. I was called by the Registrar that they want the custody of the children and i asked is`t the children they want or to reconcile the marriage and she told me they are asking for the custody of the children because they are still young. So what does that suggest to you? I will leave you to answer that question. My Mother is still alive and i have Brothers and Sisters they know very well, since i sent her to her parents have they made any effort to reach my people?? I will leave that for you to answer?? I can tell you that my wife has never called me on phone to plead or discuss this issue with me,she called the home phone yesterday and fortunately i was at home i answered the phone and asked what she wants and she said she wants to know how her children are doing and i asked her if that is all she wants to know she said "yes" and i told her they are doing good and she dropped. The issue is she has a bad father who is covering the evil of his child,i can assure you that i would have let everything go and bring her back but the position of her family especially her father and Brothers is sickening. When i went to the parents to complain, if the father had owned up to say what she did was bad and caution her like a father would do to an erring child we would not have had this thread but i was convinced by the actions of her father that her attitude will never change even if i take her back because she will never be told the truth by those who ought to tell her.

Thank you all NLs for your contribution towards my thread, to say i have benefited immensely from your advice would be an understatement. I have finally decided to move ahead with my life after careful and prayerful consideration of the issue having taking the welfare of the kids into consideration. I have finally sent the kids to my Mum and i want to be separated from her for at least 1yr then i will file for divorce. I am convinced that she is not my wife but she got married to me because i probably was the only one willing to take her to the alter at that point in time. I cannot be an alternative. I am not afraid neither am i too proud to admit my mistakes and as such i cannot put up with one who feels he/she is infallible. In today`s world it seems to have become impossible for people to accept that in their actions and conduct there are some benchmarks below which we must not go, if we do then we may just be pulling down a symbol or structure beyond us. I feel really hurt seeing my kids leaving the comfort of my home to stay with my Mum, it is never my wish or plans for them, as they say that is the irony of life, It is a bitter pill that i have swallowed it is just a matter of time,the bitter taste will soon go off my taste bud,

I have reported the matter to her parents,i was astonished when her father stood on the defensive and asked me if she was actually going out with the guy while married and i told him how would i know but the pictures should speak for itself and he told me that if she is going out with him,it is wrong to send those pics to him but if she is not going out with him then there is nothing wrong with it, her mother who sat close to the father at this time burst into tears insisting that her father is wrong in his judgment, i spoke with the Dad one on one and showed him the pics but he is so narrowly minded and i realized that he has a problem with his value system. I have only sent her to her parents to enable me come up with a decision. I cannot say where the Ex lives because i really never cared about him, i doubt if it is an online relationship but you know emails,skype and facebook and sure mediums for fast communication today.

I am married for 4years now and have two kids from the relationship, before i married my wife she had other guys who were also coming after her,there was this guy in particular that she dated while she was dating me as well as she later confessed to me. I forgave her and we had to move ahead, that was precisely 2005,we went ahead and got married in 2007. In March 2008 i came back from work around 10.00pm and met my wife chatting with this ex-boyfriend of hers and also using the head gear to talk with him on skype, she ignored me until i called her attention to prepare food for me, when i realized it was this guy,i warned her that such an act could affect our marriage and she should desist from doing so as i don`t feel comfortable with her relationship with the guy based on the fact that they have had intimate relationship before we got married,i even threatened to report to her parents if she fails to stop it.

Over the years my wife attitude became unbearable as she does not respect me and has refused to take care of the business i opened for her since she lost her job, i happened to stumble on her email box which she did not sign out and saw that she has sent 18 pictures she recently took in our masters bedroom, while laying on the bed,in the shop etc, between July 2011 to August 2011 to this same guy. I just could not figure out why she has been sending this pictures to this guy, this is a woman i have done everything to satisfy but she does not appreciate any and lacks respect for me as she insults me even in the presence of my friends and neighbors.

The kids are 4:2yr respectively,please if you were in my shoes can you continue with the marriage?

Religion has done more harm than good to those who believe, I will date an atheist if i meet one.

Good information, My Brother, we must be ready to change this country by any means necessary and so i will suggest that we put this criminals in uniform out of business and  save our fellow Brothers and Sisters from further extortion,let us meet and contribute on how to erect a sign on that spot,advising motorist and pedestrian to stay off the rail track for their safety(train and vehicle collision),we can do it using rotary club or any other well known association, I am just tired of sitting down and be passing blame, I want change, Let me know what you think and i will give you my contact.

I don`t see this law working because Landlords will always find a way out and trust the average Nigerian who is always on the rush and the money miss road guys, Government should embark on building affordable houses to put this so called greedy Landlords out of business, Otherwise,i don`t see how this will work. Most Landlord took loans from bank at a cut throat interest rate, the high cost of building materials, the Omonile that will come for his pay after the purchase of Land, Foundation money, roofing money etc, I am not in support of the Landlords but we should also agree that they are not the problem, The problem is the failure of the Government to live up to it`s function, Fashola, please embark on the building of 1 Million low cost housing,which should not be :
1.sold at coat throat price like your predecessor and God Father
2.sold to your political cronies
3.to your family members,friends,girlfriends etc

This should come under public and private partnership with Government having the highest stake and the the houses can be mortgaged/rented out at affordable prices. If Jakande can achieve it, BRF i know you too can achieve it.

It`s over 11yrs why did it take him so long to reveal this truth ? I will advice him to bury his head in shame.  As the Chief security officer to Abacha he imprisoned,killed and drove thousands of those who wanted to make the system better to exile and today he wants to be heard. He is only reaping from what he has sowed.If it is true that he has such a privilege information as he claimed,then i will be so happy because they will never let him out of prison which is my earnest prayer.God Bless Nigeria.

I left on my own volition because i wanted to move on with life and pursue a course which otherwise i will not be able to do if i remain as a JW. It was not a difficult task as you want to make people believe from your post; after careful consideration of my decision, i wrote a formal letter of disassociation to the Congregation and that brought an end to my membership with the organization. The vow i made in the first place during my baptism as a JW was to God and not to man or the organization and so i was not interested in what people or my family will say. The beauty of life is the fact that we all have a "CHOICE" as to how we want to live our life. It is our fundamental right as humans and a free will from God to us to choose how we want to serve him. I doubt if it is an exclusive preserve of any religion.
