55truth: Should I quit this job and return home?
So I have been unemployed for a while until late last month that a friend gave me link to his place of work and I got the job. The pay is not good but I had to take it cos I was wasting away without any income.
Now I joined him in the city but he didn't tell me in his one room apartment, he has 3 other guys living in. I now make the 5th guy in one room. All of them have a girlfriend that still come to sleep in the same room. I'm sure you can imagine what it means living in such a condition. I'm just 2 weeks into the work but I have already felt so tired and fade that I'm thinking of quitting the job and go back to the village which is neither a better option. Some days, I sleep in the open in the compound because no space for me inside, absorbing all in the cold into my system which is very unhealthy, plus uncertain security situation. Also, according to the company's policy, I won't get paid through out the probationary period which is 3 months. How do I handle this?
I need advice please. Don't go back home Continue with the job and also be looking out for a better offer somewhere else Endurance is a virtue Later on, someone that knows your character might help you with an accommodation before you finally rent your own. This country hard ooo, by all means you have to start somewhere. |

DrChukki: I remember my NYSC days in Kajola LGA Oyo state...
... Anyways, Op, as they used to say, "the reward of the teacher is in heaven"...
... No matter how much we try to deny this fact, it keeps proving itself.
Naturally I'm gifted to teach. I love and enjoy teaching, but now I'm into ecommerce because there's no money in teaching.
My advice to you is this: if your desire is to see destinies of young people changed and to see them have a good future, then go on and work there...
... But if your concern is to make money, then quit teaching and go into business...
... Don't ever make a mistake of ghosting it... Else the effects of the plight of those young poor students will befall you and your children.
It's better you resign as a teacher, than to be collecting salaries without teaching the students... That's a crime to God, humanity and the future.
That's all I can tell you... Iseyin camp that year Nostalgia |

I remember during Yar Adua/Jonathan era, Uniben was the cheapest federal University in the South South zone. But now, Uniuyo have overtaken Uniben in terms of tuition fee. |

Fatbam003: I recently picked up an appointment with Oyo state government as a state secondary school teacher but alas! I was posted to a village in saki .From my house to saki is about 5hrs then from saki to the village is over 1hr on bike . The condition is very unpalatable.. No browsing network, poor light and poor leaving condition . I don't think I can cope again. All means to secure transfer back to Ibadan are abortive as the village is in dire need of teachers .The salary is not even enough to travel 3 times in a month ,my only thought is that it's a govt job but it's a very hard environment and it's very depressing. have some attachments. Saki East or Saki West? I opine that you should try and see if the TESCOM can transfer you to Ibarapa East or Oyo Town. That will be better than Saki |

Chummynoni: Why would economics be under faculty of social science? Everything is wrong about this school/result. Economics is the study of human behaviour (the key objective of the social sciences) in relation with it's ends and scarce means. It cannot be termed under the "Natural sciences" because it permuates natural phenomenon and examines Human behaviour. Go and read Karl Marx " Das Kapital" so you will understand. |

giftibo: Princewill Jumbo He raised the alarm that there was no favourable salary structure in place at the different sites in the area, stressing that entrenching a proper salary structure commensurate with the amount of work put in and in line with global best practices was in the interest of all.
“The project is a welcome one. I know the Amanyanabo-in-Council means well; the Bonny Local Government Chairman means well; and the Bonny Chiefs Council means well for Bonny people. But from what I have seen so far and the interaction I have had with workers there is no salary structure for the workers and the earlier that is put in place the better for all of us.”
The Chairman Emeritus, Ibani (Bonny) Clan, appealed to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Dr Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI, and Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua, the Leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Larry Ibaningo, among others to set up a joint consultative committee to wade into the matter.
“I am appealing to the e one. I know the Amanyanabo-in-Council, the Bonny Local Government Chairman, and the Bonny Chiefs Council that they should look into this salary matter.”
“It will not be good that the project is going on and every now and then we hear that the workers have downed tools because their welfare is not well packaged.”
Concerns have been raised recently over the salary situation across various sites in Bonny LGA, with stakeholders calling on the authorities to intervene and ensure there was a template for all companies to work with in existing projects and the Train 7 project. Well said |
