Politics › Re: Amaechi : Nigerians Vote For Thieves, Certificate Forgers’ [photo] by sageb: 4:13pm On Oct 29, 2023
ENDTIMEISNEAR:
Former transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused Nigerians of voting for corrupt politicians especially thieves and certificate forgers.

Amaechi disclosed this while speaking at a recent event in Lagos.

The former minister noted that Nigerians know the politicians with history of corruption but choose to support them regardless of their crimes.

“What is new to say, Nigerians don’t react to anything. Has any politician told you he is not a thief? Which politician told you he went to university, which politician told you she served in NYSC, and which politician told you he has his certificate? Nigerians know and still vote for them.”

The minister had accused President Bola Tinubu’s adviser and former Nigeria Ports Authority boss, Hadiza Bala Usman, of telling unquantifiable lies against him in her book.

Politics Nigeria recalls that Amaechi lost to Tinubu during the 2023 APC presidential primary election.

Hmm. I don't understand why our people cannot do simple analysis before commenting on posts, why are we so beclouded with our religion, political and regional affiliations.
Yes the idea is a good one, it worked in the UK. But it cannot work for us in Nigeria. The United Kingdom Government will not end the project with them providing the education loan, they go as far as providing them grants to augment the loan, they make sure the students are profitably employed after graduation. Our government is not looking into these possibilities, they only see it as a way of increasing school fees to the tune the UK students pay, so they can divert the subvention funds to their personal purses.
This idea will only destroy our education, it is not for the masses, you can only have access to the loan as a student, so how do an average Nigerian parent pay the admission fee, acceptance fee, and the first year school which may cost hundreds of thousandths before they begin to have access to the student loan.
I really hope the Government will not have to be forcefully withdrawing every kobo that enter people's account to reimburse the students loan eventually.

Let's take a look at this scenario, during the second tenure of Governor Ajimobi in Oyo state, he declared that all primary and secondary school pupils must start paying a sectional school fees of 4000 naira, some principals add their own share of 2000 naira to it. The implication was that a lot of boys and girls stopped going to school and that gave rise to more thuggery in the stated.

We always need to remember that phrase in the Galaxy Television Song; "...person wey dey cry dey see road"

My Submission
The increment of Tuition fee for Universities is a challenge that needs to be reviewed.
About Ajimobi, remember what "constituted authority" did to LAUTECH.
LAUTECH is now fully owned by OYo state as a result of the good work of Engr. Seyi Makinde.

richmond500:
The essence of these policies is to kill importation business and make Nigeria a production country.
Your business is not the only business that is dying, many business that depends on dollar has closed down and more will close too.

Time is coming when Naira will hit 5000 to a dollar. When this happens, foreign products will be difficult to purchase and we will have no choice but to buy made in Nigeria goods cos even a pair of foreign pants will be so expensive that only politicians can afford it while the rest of us will wear plantain leaves.

It's so annoying that the average secondary school student knows the dollar to naira exchange rate, that shows how we depend so much on the dollar and killing our own naira.
Until we patronize our own companies, we can't grow the economy, this painful stage is called the transition stage from foreign to local, the govt is not the problem but the time it takes Nigerians to accept the Nigerian goods will determine how long the pain will last.

In the next five years, we will fully accept our own economy and in the next ten years, we will have an economy that will beat France and Germany cos we have the market already.
It's been a long time, Imbre.

Programming › Re: Degree Vs Experience: Which Do Employers Prefer? by sageb: 6:52pm On Oct 24, 2023
Segzy19:
It depends on the environment and industry...

You know like they say... People who hold pen get more paid that people who hold tools.
When it comes to appointment into leadership positions, your qualifications matter. That's why you see some situations where they will bring one inexperienced lad with degree to be your boss despite your years of experience all because that position has to be held by a degree holder... Yet you will still be the one to teach the inexperienced lad on the job o... You see that a lot in the govt parastatals and some private organisations..

As time goes on, if the lad is serious he will become experienced on the job and become balanced..

On the other hand experience is good as it enhances your CV and make you more marketable but then your assention on your career ladder maybe limited without a degree... So even with the experience it is advisable that you get a degree alongside...

Why do you see some people e.g. engineers, IT guys , doctors, technical guys go for MBA? It's because they aim to take up leadership positions and that is where the real power and money is...

So I will say both experience and degree are necessary. Whichever one you have first, make sure you add the other to it

Cheers
