This our generation is so anti-knowledge. The guy did a research with a specified limitation of time to colonial era - yet You have managed to turn it to some sort of islamophobic complex. Obviously Christianity (catholism) was widely accepted in the East during colonialsm but same cannot be said in the north.
Here is a researcher that has identified a factor for that (which should naturally interest evangelicals in the north), but someone is trivialising it to "how to stop Christianity in North " angry

I guess anyone that does a research on witchcraft as it relates to Benin will either be burnt at a stake or at least accused of witchcraft. Bunch of ignorant lot

First of all go and beg your mom for forgiveness. Then secondly humble yourself and ask her for advice and guidance. Trust me she moulded you to whatever you are today and she nows you better. Not because she knows what you are capable of, but also why you are capable of those things...

Have a heart to heart discussion with your mom

Well this war that Europe and North America are mongering about, I guess it will come to pass. But one thing everyone needs to know is that outcomes of wars are unpredictable. Like the saying goes a sheep that is destined to go under the knife does not hear the call of the shepherd.

op are you alright at all even when the prophet was alive people says worse things than this to him ,he never pass judgments on them .rather he returned it with good behaviors whatever we do in this life with our mouth, eyes, hands ,legs we all gonna make account for it . op hope you able to say this when you face Allah
I tried and tried even harder to state unequivocally that this is no way justifying their act but trying to deconstruct this complex, intertwined issue and address an aspect of it.

I even had to condemn the jungle justice in another post. But it seems we can't discuss issues devoid of sentiments in this clime or rather those that can are considerably smaller in number than I thought.

Mind you in this heated debate going on online there are different interests fanning the flames, there are the secessionist, the politicians, the religious extremists on both sides, non Nigerians etc

This idea of cause and consequence you are trying to sell is terrorism

How many Muslims have been killed for calling other people's deities idols
The fact remains that people should be able to say what they like. Muslims do. At the core of Islamic belief and teachings are things that are offensive to others.
[/b]
If you are genuine in preventing future recurrences the look at Muslims and get them to accept that if anyone abuses their beliefs they have to pursue redress lawfully not by violence bearing in mind that their own beliefs are offensive to some and no one is killing them for that

Actually I agree with you, but the world is what it is. There will always be miscreants, mischief makers and genuinely offended people (who won't take laws into their hands). And although the latter might be the majority, the former two hide under sanctimonious outrage, and heightened emotions of the latter to perpetrate their acts.

There are reasons why some countries have laws against hate speech, holocaust denial, insulting a monarch etc. These societies evolved these laws to suit their peculiarities and if we find it difficult to even discuss such amongst ourselves without shouting, accusing or intimidating each other - then what are we

Yes we can decide to change the subject to irrelevances or play victim or make grandiose speeches

If Muslim or Christian can can Ogun an idol and not get killed Ogun worshippers too can call Allah fake or Mohammed a liar and not get killed that is the point here
The key word is offensive and not insulting

Do you know that Muslims find ascribing a son to God as offensive?

Like I modified above:

Your comparison above is not valid because, many have denied that the prophet was even a prophet from God or even denied his message which can be uncomfortable for Muslims but have to deal with it as reality of the world we live in. So your mentioning that Muslims do not consider Jesus as GOD is a fact but they will not dare insult him (peace be upon him)

Infact insulting Jesus peace be upon him nullifies your islam.

My point, a "condemnable" act has happened. Let's find ways to prevent it from happening again

Is it offensive to Christians when Muslims insist that Jesus is a man and not God?

Is it offensive to Ogun worshippers when Christians and Muslims say they worship Idols
Is it offensive to atheists when Muslims and Christians say only a fool will say there is no God?

There is no monopoly on being offended and Muslims and Christians are not the only ones in Nigeria but they go about causing offence and many like you never see anything wrong with that.

THINK

Telling an atheist that there is a God is just as offensive as someone telling a Muslim that there is no God and Muhammad'd claim that God sent him is a lie

The simple reality is every religious belief causes offence because it negates another belief either in another religion or atheism

We might decide to Bury our heads in dust, or shout at each other or call every Muslim a terrorist all we want. My discussion is directed towards future occurrence of this unfortunate incident - the cause and its consequence.

Your comparison above is not valid because, many have denied that the prophet was even a prophet from God or even denied his message which can be uncomfortable for Muslims but have to deal with it as reality of the world we live in. So also your mentioning that Muslims do not consider Jesus as GOD but will not dare insult him (peace be upon him)

The fact still remains that over 2 billion people on this planet love this man called Muhammad peace be upon him beyond your comprehension. Of these, majority of them don't support taking laws into their hands but most definitely support strict state backed punishment for anyone who involves in such instigations.

And yes there are laws in many jurisdictions that condemn people to death for offences some might find trivial or subjective like treason, desertion, espionage, drug smuggling etc.

This is using a sledge hammer to kill an ant.
What is bad is bad.
Let's condemn this act so it will stop ONCE AND FOR ALL.
The Holy Quaran never supported the killing of others.

The True and Real Muslims (the ones we know and have as friends, neighbors, clients, Should always preach this message to the fanatics, the animals in human skin among them, they make people say rubbishabout their religion.
Do not be like the Muslim on the image below

Quran tells us to ignore Blasphemy because in Islamic law, there is no punishment for blasphemy.

“And when you see those who engage in making fun of Our revelations (Blasphemy), stay away from them till they turn to another topic.
And if Satan causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

Quran (6:68)

From the above verse, the stance of present-day Muslims goes totally against the teachings of the Quran. Whenever anyone in their judgment commits an act of ‘abuse of the Prophet in speech or in writing, they instantly demand that all those who insult the Prophet be beheaded.

This verse of the Quran makes it plain that it is not the task of the Muslims to establish “media watch” offices and hunt for anyone involved in acts of defamation of the Prophet, and then plan for their killing as in the case of what happened in Sokoto.

Like I said earlier, there are multiple threads denouncing the act already, my aim is to discuss the remote cause.
Whether we like it or nor Muslims are offended by such speech against the prophet of Islam, though their response will vary (and like you pointed out above majority will turn away in disgust).

But my question is why such verbal assaults towards Muslims, and how its an issue that gets little attention

I am not here to discuss the incident of her death, but rather the comment that triggered it.
So if you are unable to deconstruct and analyse issues without sentiments, this is not for you.

Below is a translation of what she said verbatim. I have removed the expletives she used:

"holy ghost fire, nothing will happen to us. Must you send the things you send, this group was not created to send all this rubbish, it was created to send matters of test, assignments etc. The prophet of Allah @%/#*&* " (the last phrase she uttered were extremely offensive hence i used symbols)
.

Like I said the essence is to analyse what she said. One wonders, was she deliberately trying to start a religious crisis thinking it wouldn't go beyond the usual social media banter against Muslims?

I ask this because for some one trying to stop religious posts in a chat group do you start by saying "Holy ghost fire"? This is self contradiction.
Secondly, after making your point on not posting religious materials in the chat, why on earth did she had to insult the prophet (peace be upon him)

It is a fact that Muslims revere the Prophets of Allah more than anything in this world, and the prophet of Islam occupies a special place in their heart.

It is also a fact that although ignorant people have over time and in different places used bad words against the prophet (PBUH), no Muslim worth the name dear mention great prophets like Moses, Ezekiel etc without saying "peace be upon them or "Alaihim Salaam" or AS, not to think of using bad speech against them

So it is important to state that I condemn the act of taking laws into one's hand, but also condemn any form of instigation and inciting speech against anyone, Muslims and non Muslims alike

If you do this, if your suspicion turns out to be true you can take the appropriate decision then with proof, if not you've saved your fragile relationship the stress of unfounded allegations

Another flimsy thing we fight over is when I send any of the kids out on an errand, small time, if they delay, you'll see him looking for his slipass or trouser- he'll go and look for them. It isn't that where we live isn't safe, I don't know his problem. My argument is somebody born me too

In addition to the reply you got, it takes a disciplined mind to consciously stay away from water and snacks till sunset. Many people eat during day, but this time, every Muslim must abstain from food and water.

Very true. But fasting is beyond just abstaining from food. It also entails refraining from vain speech (especially slanderous speech or backbiting), refraining from looking at forbidden things, refraining from typing what is forbidden (online trolling or insults)

The Prophet of Allah is reported to have said: 'If one does not abandon falsehood in words and deeds, Allah has no need for his abandoning of his food and drink

Islam for Muslims / My Daily Ramadan "Playlist" (insha Allah) by Saifullah01: 5:25pm On Mar 31, 2022
Yes, yes. It's not a musical list but a todo list. I am writing it down as a motivation to myself and hopefully as an inspiration to others. Even if it is one person that finds this post helpful then "Alhamdulillah".

Please feel free to share your plans, perhaps it will inspire others.

1. Complete the Quran in the month of Ramadan: Here is my trick. The entire Quran (madina publication) has 30 Juz, that is 1 juz per day. A juz is about 20 pages, so you can read all 20 pages after fajr prayer or any other prayer, or you can just read 4 pages after each of the 5 daily prayers. At this speed you should complete the Quran in 30 days.
Tip: I use this particular Quran app "Quran for android"

2. The prophet (PBUH) recommended 12 rakaat of non obligatory prayers daily, the reward for who ever observes it being a house in Jannah (look up the hadith). It goes thus: 2 before fajr (dawn) prayers, 4 before dhuhr (afternoon) prayers, 2 after dhuhr prayers, 2 after maghrib (sunset) prayers and 2 after Isha (night) prayers. May Allha make it easy.

3. Pray all your obligatory prayers in the mosque in congregation with others.

4. Every day give something out in charity. Thus is because rewards are multiplied in the month of Ramadan, and you never know if this is your last Ramadan.
One secret to charity is that when you give it to people close to you like family members, relatives, friends etc. It attracts double rewards (and then this is multiplied in Ramadan) because you are not just giving in charity but also maintaining ties of kinship (which is very important in Islam)
The second secret to charity is that it doesn't have to be monetary here are some things the prophet listed as charity for people with less means, these are:

- Removing harmful objects from the road people pass
- Smiling when you meet people
- To help someone with his transport (pushing a faulty
car in our time)
- And yes, fulfilling the main rite of marriage (if you don't gerit forget abourit) to your spouse smiley The companions of the prophet were so amazed about this point that they asked "why should we be rewarded for fulfilling our carnal desires?" He replied "wouldn't you be condemned if you satisfied it illegally? Hence, the reward for doing it legally"

5. Praying the taraweeh prayers in a congregation. There is a hadith that says whoever observes these prayers in good faith and hopeful for its rewards, all his past sins will be forgiven. May Allah make it easy

6. Call your parents daily to wish them- something, anything, but call them daily. This is one of the easiest ways of gaining Allah's pleasure. There is a hadith that says the pleasure of Allah is in that of your parents and otherwise. Meaning if your parents are pleased with you then it is hoped that Allah is pleased with you and vise versa

7. Don't mess this opportunity up. And I say this to myself self too; don't mess this opportunity up.
The prophet was once heard saying Amin, when asked why he said that he replied that Angel Gabriel appeared to him and said may he be cursed, whoever witnesses Ramadan and does nor earn the forgiveness of Allah shocked
I ask, whose damnation amongst these two would you want to be under (the angel or the prophet PBUH) may Allah protect us

8. Avoid arguments and fights. And if anyone approach you with vain talk reply them like Mary mother of Jesus said in the Quran when accused of having an illegitimate child, her response was "I have vowed a fast to (Allah) the Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into no (vain) talk with any human being"

9. Lying, talking behind people's back and other forms of societal character disorder voids the essence of fasting. The prophet PBUH said many a times people fast but get nothing from their fast except hunger and fatigue. In another hadith the prophet PBUH said whoever that cannot restrain his tongue from lying and vain speech, Allah has no need for his abstinence from food and water (strong talk there)

10.

Guilty as charged. My silly argument is always that she spends more time at home and thus must have seen it but didn't care to pick it for me.
