Lmao, No one should refer you to daad. I nukwa! First of all, you should have said - "Please, can someone kindly suggest to me some schools that teach IT courses in English. I have checked daad multiple times, and I seem not to find any". People here often suggest courses and schools freely, but you sounded too forceful with your demands. |
kryptonite44:Hello, Do you have degree in Economics? If you want to learn more about this course, please send me an email. This is my department. |
vikeb:Hello, I have crossed Pforzheim before. It is a student city and looks like its happening there. On the other hand, Germans, who know their land said that students there usually dont like the city and the area. If you can spend 1.2 million a sem for an MBA, you could as well pay that in the UK. That is almost 5 million for the 4 semesters. Another thing to consider is AACSB accreditation. In Germany, most of the MBAs are expensive, and only a few have AACSB accreditation. In addition, you can look at alternative courses which have management content, such TUM's Management and Innovation or some International Management courses around. However, if you want to proceed, try to understand German up to B1 level. It would help you, since it is a small city. |
Obinnafrancis:I swear. I applied for Management and Technology at TUM. The procedure can make you weak. I even wrote a ten-page Essay. Still waiting for my VPD - so that I can send them everything. TUM and LMU have crazy Admission procedures. |
Sakasitay:exactly. one Needs their VPD to be able to apply online on their Portal. |
vivianobas:TUM requires uniassist. Theirs costs 30 euros. I think if your result is good, they would give you Admission. |
Ogoonna:I'm at University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart. |
Koval12:Ordinary banana o |
Chriswazo:I flaunt my blackness. And I comport myself. I try as much as possible to say something in class. There's one prof that likes pointing fingers when he asks questions, as if we are in a Nigerian University. I wont sit in front again during his classes biko. But it's not that bad. I get along with the white people, Asian people and so. The trick in breaking into their circles, is to approach them and introduce yourself, from the onset, so that you are not left in isolation. Another, is to engage them in a discourse concerning Africa, or stuff you know about the world in general. Oyibo people like to dey yarn educative gist lol. The wifi is provided by STW, in collabo with the school. So, when you are coming, buy a router and a WLAN cable from computer village, or any computer market in your city of residence, that's considering the fact that some people don't live in Lagos. I have not experienced racism. Even if I do, I would just look away, because I am not bothered such distractions. Although, the bus drivers can be cold some times. But na today? Are they worse than danfo conductors? So, one can actually not pay attention to slight racism, and keep the head up. |
Wow hello guys, It has been a long time. I really suffered before I got my visum. About three weeks after I got my AM. Thanks be to God, and also my advisers, and even the International Students enrollment officer at my university. So, I got my visa on the 15th of October. I was supposed to move out Nigeria on 13th October, but the embassy used my visa to dance shaku shaku. God pass them las las. Their delay cost me extra money for the rescheduling of my ticket. Some people can be annoying sha. When I told people about my case, they undermined it by saying - "that I have no problem now", some people even said that if I can afford to pay tuition fees in Baden-Wuettenberg, then that means I can afford to have my rent counting, while I haven't arrived Germany. To the Glory of the Lord, my name was announced as the first person for visa collection that fateful day. (Paulinus my ni^^a lol). So, I departed on the 19th of October, 22:35 pm and arrived frankfurt 6 O'clock in the morning, before I took my connecting flight to Stuttgart. Settled down, and even toured the school. Then the following Monday, the real business started. During the first two weeks of intense, fast-paced and rather confusing lectures, I was doubting myself. I began to have cognitive dissonance (psychological/mental disturbances that arise after a decision to do something has yielded results). But, I have begun to cope. I am even the only black man from this whole wide world in my class. 1. When you are coming, ensure that you revise some of the key components of your undergraduate degree program. 2. Come along with your undergraduate research project. You may be asked to defend it again, in front of Oyibo profs (INTIMIDATING!) 3. Don't carry excess luggage. When you reach here, you can buy the appropriate winter jackets and so on. 4. Learn some German, before you arrive. Communication is a problem, if you can't speak "come-and-be-going" level of German. 5. Try to sort out your STW accommodation before heading to Germany, lest you spend your entire money on staying in hotels. 6. Distraction dey here oo. Free internet, beautiful shops, parties here and there. Be guided. I can't believe that I have become an adviser on this page. Look at me now, about eight months ago, I was still asking for how to navigate on DAAD.de Just believe and have the courage to take the risk, and you will be glad you did. Thanks for all the people who made this thread lit. Eke40seven, and his mythbusters, Cassie V for ze tips, Justwise, Dailydollar, shasha, everyone. I will still pop in from time to time, to provide help, in any way I can. Auf wiedersehen alle. |
Good evening, Who is traveling on 13th October? |
Wow! God has been great! Angela Merkel gave me a hug today. Date of interview: 30th Aug Uni: University of Hohenheim State: Baden-Wuerttenberg Course: International Business and Economics. |
Hallo Haus, It has been a long time! I am sure that most of you are rounding up plans to move to Germany? I cannot wait to leave for my beloved Merkelland. Congrats to those who have received their AM! For those who have done their interviews and are still waiting, the AM will be sent to you soon. |
Daboiz:Swear an affidavit for a change of name. I guess this helps. |
TUNDEMI1:I later realised. But I didn't mention his party, I think. I only emphasized oh his political neutrality. Thanks |
domfeyer:Yeah he did. I suspected you were Nairaland.. Lol how was your interview? The visa officer gave me back the passport ni |
Thank God for His Grace.. It was a successful interview - and my wishes were granted. I was interviewed by the guy in a punk haircut. He has no problem - so easy going and reassuring. So, I woke up by 2:54 am, six minutes before my alarm rang. I zoomed off to VI around 3:50 am. It was tough to find a parking space, and I was like "wetin be this one again?" Eventually I got a parking space opposite the Indian Embassy. I got to German Embassy gate by 4:49, and was number two on the queue. We all lined up there until about 5:40, when we saw a slightly bald man arranging sits and stools, and giving orders to the police men - and I realised that was the Great Mr Paulinus. He barked here and there, and all we kept saying was "sorry sir, we are sorry sir". We did all the routine security checks and sat for our turns at the Visa section - It felt like the abroad man. So I got a notification to enter the third cubicle: Me: Good morning V.O : Welcome to the German Embassy. So, is it for Bsc or Masters? Me: It's for MSc please. V.O: which school are you going to? Me: University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart. V.O: for which program? Me: I'm going to study MSc International Business and Economics. V.O: Can I have your documents please? The original and copies... Me: Passed them through the counter, and paid for the Visa fees as well. V.O : I need an extra passport photo please. It should be on white background. Me: I checked my pocket and I saw passport photos in red background. (Lmao, I've been trusting my village people for being good people all these years, why would they come and fall my hand at the interview nau?) Luckily I found and extra photo. I passed it on. V.O : why study this course in Germany, when you can actually study it in Nigeria? Me: Actually, I've chosen to study it in Germany because no university offers it year as a joint degree, in addition, the approach in Nigeria is not interdisciplinary in context (or nature). V.O : Why Germany and not UK, Us or Canada? Me: Germany offers best value for education, and its universities are more affordable than those in the me too education countries. The unis in Germany are highly ranked in the World University Rankings. V.O : why this course? Me: I want to study this course, so that I will attain a management position in the nearest future. I want to gain skills in applying econometric methods in the solving of management problems. I will also learn how business is approached from a global perspective. It will also help me to expand my professional network. V.O : After this course, what next? Me: Come back to Nigeria (as if) just in time to help my company plan and strategize on how we are going to expand our business to ECOWAS nations like Ghana and Ivory Coast. I will like to be in the team that will set the plans and strategies... Furthermore, in the future, the knowledge from course will be needed, so that I can render management consultancy services to the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, where I would give advice on how to develop strategies for enhancing Nigeria's exportation, and to give the ministry a sense of globalization. I believe that this will be my way of contributing to the country. V.O : I hope you have a motivation letter Me: Yes, an original and two copies, please. V.O : Have you paid school fees. Me: No, not yet. The uni strictly said that I should pay after I must have got a Visa. V.O : Have you learnt German? Me: I have not registered for a course at the institute, but have been learning online, so that when I get to Germany, I will intensify the study at any institute there. V.O : Facts about Germany Me: (The normal yarns. Just that I added jara in my own. I even mentioned the three seas which the rivers flow into) V.O : is that all? Me: (I gave a shout out to Angela Merkel, and Frank Walter Steinmeier, and the dates they assumed office, and the roles the play, then I mentioned that the President has no party) V.O : Are you sure he has no party? I mean, if you say plays a neutral part, it doesn't mean he has no party. Me: yes, he was in the CDU before he became president and assumed neutrality. V.O : where did you graduate from? And which year? What have you been doing since. Me: I graduated with a Bsc in Marketing from the University of Port Harcourt. Graduated in 2015 and convoked in 2016. I got a job as a graduate intern, until it was time for nysc, and the company retained me as an nysc staff, and subsequently gave me full time employment. V.O : Do you have any questions? Me: Yes. Please, I was told to bring a biometrically old document, should I submit my ID card? Oh! Here's my scratch card. V.O : we don't need the ID card. Sign this paper and copy the email address. Once you fund a blocked account, kindly send us an email for confirmation. Henceforth, all communication will be via email. That would be all... In addition, don't let Paulinus get to you. Be obedient and don't do what you were not asked.. |
Kenthumphz:Thanks have fun in Siegen |
When Anselloty said we will start using +49, I said "na so". I can't wait for this beautiful number. |
Hallo meine menschen, Hope you are all doing great. Should I address the motivation letter? for example - My address Date Embassy address Letter of motivaton |
femiti:Hallo, I can help you. There are few schools who offer Msc Finance. The list goes this way. 1. University of Cologne - this uni is in NRW, and offers MSc Business Admin, with a specialization in Finance, HR, Econs, Accounting and Information systems. You may have to submit a GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS, even though the GMAT is optional (it will just boost your points during admission selection process). Feel free to call the school, or the program co-ordinator, or check www.wiso.uni-koeln.de or www.daad.de for this particular programme. 2. University of Tuebingen - this one is located in the southern part of Baden-Wuerttenberg. As it stands, universities here charge nearly 6000 Euros for a 2 year program (1500 per semester). Their MSc Economics and Finance is restricted though, so you would need to have a high CGPA from OAU. Still apply though, and make sure you have your TOEFL too. Check https://www.uni-tuebingen.de/en/international.html 3. University of Ulm - Don't really know much about them, but they offer this course Msc Finance. One tip, be flexible with your choices too. Like - also go for other management courses like Marketing, Accounting, Project Management and Economics. Avoid the Uni-assist route - like some on here have asserted in the past posts. And of course, research more by yourself - not everything said here paints the clear picture. Tchuess! |
festop2002:Wow congrats. That makes the three of us going to Hohenheim. I'm going for MSc Int'l Business and Economics |
Guten abend. Ist alle okay? Unsere AM kommen bald! |
Yobaby:Congrats. Only God can do it. I tap into your blessings. Which school you dey go? |
gagaphorus:God is faithful. Nothing is impossible. Just about 3 weeks innit. |
tmed1:Thanks. It's good to interact with students and generally people from other cultures -Arabs, Indians, Pakistanis, Cameroonians etc. Thanks for the practical advice. I told someone to prioritize his education when he moves to Germany, and people flared up in my whatsapp group. We need more people like you for these counsels. |
schwenin:You may want to consider Turkish Airlines. I sent you a PM |
Please guys, can't I buy the prepaid envelope at another DHL office? |
Enephkay:Lol, God's Grace doing mighty works here and there. I tap into your swift response. |
Who else is going for an appointment on 30th August? Let's begin to know ourselves |
MaroCruz:Congrats is advance. It's apparent they use a template for the interviews. It would not be easy for everyone to remember all the answers word-for-word. |
