I have applied to two schools yesterday and today. Applied to University of Hohenheim (International Business and Economics MSc). Today, I sent my signed form to University of Jena. I got to know about the school today, called Dr Markus Pasche (these German people are so willing to assist, unlike the Canadians or Americans), to know how to go about it, I begged that I didn't have any TOEFL or IELTS, and he said it was not compulsory for us Nigerians. Staggeringly, 40% of applications to Jena come from Naija.
May the Good Lord help us all to achieve this dream, Amen. |

Good morning great people.
I want to ask based on your experiences here. Can I apply to Heilbronn for the MA International Business program, with my Letter of proficiency? Or do they insist on the IELTS/TOEFL?
Please, can someone give me a response? Thanks.

Lmao Eke... Nice ones Eke40seven: Myth 9: Once you enter Germany, you become fresh automatically. Fact: There is something about German weather, water, soap or air or whatever that doesn't translate to you having that "UK" or "Yankee" fresh looks for most African people. Most people develop skin spots especially if you are light skinned already. Some people develop dry flaky skin etc. I know this might be more important for girls though. Once you come in, you must and always should look for the right products. In Germany most of the products are developed to "brozen" their skin rather than lighten against what is obtainable in Nigeria. Many of the products might not be right for your skin. The soaps from Nigeria in my opinion doesn't actually provide the ultimate solution in my opinion. In order to pursue that abroad fresh look, you might need biotin and zinc supplements. You will need soap for "sehr trockenen haut" which translates as "very dry skin".
For girls, you can as well waive good bye to "good" braids and hair, it's damn expensive here. You must learn to DIY or you can "tandem" with other girls who also make hair. Many women carry incredibly horrible thorny and abandoned bird nest for hair because of how expensive it is. Learn to make wigs or make your hair and you will excel. Make use of hair products with a lot of oil like coconut and almond oil and if you have good hair, then go 'Team Natural' or cut your hair and dye it well, it trends here and girls look beautiful on them and it's easier to manage.
For boys, if you can't part with 12 euros for a hair cut every month, then learn to cut your hair yourself or learn to barb, you can make some money that way too.
P.s. Not to sound pessimistic, many people come with fake profiles and rosy unrealistic stories, so that's why my post are actually the opposite. However, it's good you know the challenges and as I give some tips, you can prepare yourself on how to overcome. |

upkay: O man! this money is to much and if I may ask, which state Ministry of Education is that? Last summer application, I used this same English proficiency letter issued from Ministry of Education, secretariat in Ibadan and an invoice was generated for me to pay #2k at Skye bank branch. I used this letter for all my applications and none of the schs complaint on it. So, once ur sch has no issue wit it, then go ahead. But I will rather advice you to try and get the letter from ur institution as it serves and also stands as a recommendation having university letter head wordens in it cos you will still come across some schs in Germany that does not recognize the one from Ministry of Education. In my sch, LAUTECH the English proficiency letter was issued at the registrar's office and it is a charge free. Viel Ergfolg! Lagos State Ministry of Education. Although, A representative from Ruhr University Bochum told me to go ahead and use it, that it is enough to get me considered. Thanks for the advice. |
