RomanceRe: Why Do Men Marry? by salako: 8:30am On May 01, 2006
To marry is to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for A Woman and any children you may have together till death. To marry is actuall one of the most sacred acts Man can do.

Initially AND still - men and women are to remain virgins until marriage then they will have intercourse after the ceremony. This is called Consummation ie Completion or Bringing to Perfection.

It is a Very Holy act between two people.

Should the woman be a virgin (as she SHOULD) then her hymen should be intact. The breaking of it during the act of (first) sex will release blood. That blood will make contact with the husbands penis and what you have is a (biblical) BLOOD COVENANT. The same type of covenant God has made with all of Man via the Blood of Christ. This is what God intends for us all. That is the covenent a man will have with his wife.

To marry is to create a family. Family means 'Fathers House' that means the Husband is the Absolute authority accountable to God. For this reason a Woman can put herself under his authority because she knows that his actions towards her will be of Gods guidelines. Gods calls for men to lead/ dicsiple his house Gen 3:16.

A man who marries does so because he is READY to take the Authority and Accountability of a Husband.
PoliticsClose Down Guantanamo? by salako(op): 7:52pm On Feb 17, 2006
The UN wants Guantanamo Bay to be closed as soon as possible after fresh allegations of prisoners being tortured. 490 so-called "terror suspects" are being held without charge at the camp. So, what good is the detention camp to anyone? Isn't it about time America either charges or releases them?
Abuse of human rights or a necessary evil in the war on terror?

FamilyWhen Mums Walk Out by salako(op): 4:50am On Feb 15, 2006
You think of the bond between mother and child as being something utterly unbreakable. So what could make a mum abandon her kids? It’s a concept most of us find shocking, but it does go on. Why? Is it an act of selfishness? Or in the best interests of the kids? And what are the repercussions for all concerned.

LiteratureRe: Does Harry Potter Encourage Witchcraft? by salako: 7:06pm On Nov 22, 2005
I don't really know if there is any such thing as witchcraft.
Harry potter isn't about glamorising magic any more that superman glamorises jumping out of windows.

Harry potter is about friendship, growing up, relationships and all the other complexities of life. It deals with loads of feelings and emotions that children and adults deal with and have to deal whit in future. It teaches people that life is not black and white in a way that makes its readers more appreciative of other people, more understanding, and thus better people. I think they are a great set of books with so much positivity to offer any reader, and do not deserve to be spoken ill of.

Personally, i think JK. Rowling's writing is positively inspiring. I challenge anybody to read them and not feel better for it!
I am currently half way through the half blood prince... i am an AVID FAN! grin cheesy wink smiley!! grin cheesy wink smiley!! grin cheesy wink smiley!!
TV/MoviesRe: Osoufia in London: Nigerian Home Video/VCD by salako: 6:46pm On Nov 22, 2005
This is a great movie. part 2 is utter garbage, but part 1 is superb!
my favourite bit is the scene when the lawyer and the teacher come to his house to inform him of his inheritance. telling the kids to cry for their uncle made me laugh so hard, i had to stop the movie so i could recover!
Excellent! grin
HealthAbout Pregnant Woman Who Drink by salako(op): 9:57pm On Nov 16, 2005
Are Pregnant Drinkers Evil?

What sort of women can’t go 40 weeks without a drink? Heavens 40 weeks! You know what a night on the tiles does to our bodies, well, imagine what a four pound foetus is going through after three pints? My mum had the odd drink while carrying me. Is that why I turned out like this grin ? Can women have a drink while pregnant? Do you feel wicked if you do?

Your thoughts on that.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Miracles! by salako(op): 7:21pm On Nov 14, 2005
I personally have never witnessed a miracle and believe that everything that happens in this world has a logical explanation, whether known or unknown.

RomanceRe: I Married My Girlfriend Because She Got Pregnant by salako: 8:17pm On Nov 09, 2005
I think guys should behave to women as they would like guys to behave to their mothers/sisters/daughters.

I also think you married your wife because she said yes. She didn't have to marry you, so stop thinking about yourself and appreciate her decision. Or do you not respect her?
LiteratureRe: Best African Author: Wole Soyinka or Chinua Achebe? by salako: 8:08pm On Nov 08, 2005
I find this topic funny because these are the ONLY two Nigerian authors i had ever heard of. i have read none of their work yet, but i will.
From my own sources Achebe is the most influential.
RomanceRe: Interracial Dating & Marriage ("Jungle Fever") by salako: 5:51pm On Nov 04, 2005
I'm sure I've even posted here before....
I think it is fine. i don't see any problem with it. I do not think that the colour of someones skin determines who they can and cannot love. Yet at the same time an instinctive part of me cringes when i see it. it is because of my earliest memory of it. The movie 'Jungle Fever' really shaped my ideas a bit. i always thought black women were just against it. even though in the movie a black woman falls for a white dude - her character wasn't really explored well (i think) in the movie, so it made it difficult to relate to her. i related to the angry black woman who goes nuts when she finds out about Wesley snipes activities with the white girl. so i does freak me out a little at first (for like 1.5 secs) when i see black women with white men.
Black men and white women doesn't really affect me as much (on an irrational level) but then that's because of the double standards i guess. grin

FamilyRe: Does A Man Need More Than One Wife? by salako: 12:35pm On Nov 04, 2005
is sex so important that it can determine whether or not a couple stay together or monogamous? i thought relationships were about support, caring & patients. If sex or sexual gratification is critical to a relationship, then the interests of the couple are misguided.
FamilyRe: Does A Man Need More Than One Wife? by salako: 7:03pm On Nov 03, 2005
One must devote themselves to their wife. if they have a lot of love to give, they should start a family and use their spare love on the children.
If they still have an abundant amount of time and effort to give away they may adopt more kids, or start research in to how to cure cancer & A.I.D.s out of love for their society. there is no real excuse for polygamy just lust.
FamilyRe: How Many Kids Are Enough? by salako: 6:54pm On Nov 03, 2005
enough is as much as is bearable. so long as one can bear to raise more they may continue.

Of course one should always remember that there are many children without parents in the world, so perhaps before people start multiplying like rabbits they might want to consider adoption too. wink
FamilyRe: When Love Dies, Will You Stay For The Sake Of Your Children? by salako: 6:48pm On Nov 03, 2005
Love doesn't die because love is a choice.
People love when they see something pure and innocent in others or another that is worthy of their time and effort.
They recognise that persons potentially great contribution to the world and their own lives and so offer their time and effort to aid them.

People choose to stop loving when their expectations of another of others are not reached or satisfied. (i believe this means that if your choose to stop loving somebody it is because you have judged that this person no longer deserves your patients, time or effort).

The thing that people consider is 'lost' is not 'love' but the recognition of that purity innocence and contribution to the world or themselves that their partners once seemed to have.
Christianity EtcRe: What Happens When We Die? by salako: 6:20pm On Nov 03, 2005
perhaps you should be more concerned with what happens when we are alive. Life is far more interesting that death and i bet you don't know all there is to know about life yet. so once you know everything there is to know about life, then you can explore death but until then... leave it out. cheesy

CultureRe: Female Circumcision: what's wrong with it? by salako: 1:36pm On Nov 03, 2005
I don't agree with it.
I think it is dangerous, invasive, unnatural, and unnecessary.
It should be left only to the discretion of the woman.
If a woman chooses to do it that's her choice; it should not be done to children, babies or anyone that does not volunteer for it.
FamilyRe: Help: I'm Married But In Love With Another Woman by salako: 12:32pm On Nov 03, 2005
You should discuss your problem with you wife. Tell her the truth about your feelings, so that the two of you can deal with it together. If you are completely honest about why you 'love' the other woman and not your wife, your wife will know who you truly are and then together you can deal with it.
its not going to be easy but at least it will be honest.

FamilyMarriage Without Parents' Knowledge? by salako(op): 11:46am On Nov 03, 2005
Wed Without Blessing?

How important is it to get your parents' blessing before you get hitched?

I know of a girl that didn't tell her parents she was marrying her husband. She said she didn't [care] about what others thought. Is she right? Did you elope without a word? Do you live to regret it?

And mums, dads, family what's it like being the last to know your little baby/sibling has gone and got hitched? Share your experiences.

FamilyTired of Your Married Friends Playing Matchmaker? by salako(op): 11:53am On Nov 02, 2005
Smug Marrieds?

Are married people just a little too smug when they come to dealing with their single friends? Just because they’ve got hitched, does that mean they have a god given right to pair all their mates up, too? Is there anything more frightening than hearing one of your married mates go: "I’ve got this lovely friend who'd be perfect for you!" Yeah right.

If you’re happy being single and sick of marrieds trying to run your life post it here!

CrimeRight to name a rape suspect? by salako(op): 3:04pm On Nov 01, 2005
then is it right to name rape suspects before they're tried or even charged with any crime? Any woman could walk into a police station and claim just about any star raped her. that accusation would leak to the press and that star would find themselves front page news, accused of rape by someone they might never have even met. while his accuser is guaranteed anonymity. is that fair?
