Politics / How Faleke ‘cried’ Uncontrollably After Supreme Court’s Devastating Judgment by salterswan: 11:06am On Sep 21, 2016
The atmosphere in the 300 sitting capacity court room was tension soaked; the security was water tight, the crowd intimidating, sympathizers across both side of the political divide were seen in clusters discussing in hushed tones.

‘’Will the Supreme Court upturn the election? Will it align itself to the decision of the tribunal and Appellate Court? Will the reverse be the case? Or has Sahara Reporters leaked the judgment already before the judges sat on it? I quickly open their site, only to discover that the top notched Investigative medium was as clueless about the judgment as I was. That compounded my problem.

Outside the court vicinity, armored tankers, fierce-looking police men and DSS officials were seen turning unidentifiable people back in droves. Only reporters and top government officers with notably personalities were allowed to check in after a thorough search.

Aged Men, women and youths occupied the road that connects the Eagles Square to the Presidential villa, leading to the Supreme Court’s complex.

Suddenly, the major actor, James Faleke, who was the deputy to the late Abubakar Audu appeared into the court room decked with well starched Agbada beaming with smiles with his scores of entourage.

Why is Faleke smiling and waving like a Presidential contestant? Has he bribed the Judges’’ a core supporter of Yahaya Bello who was standing beside me asked rhetorically?

Looking at Falake’s starched Agbada, you will never believe that Nigeria is in recession. On a lighter note, his total outfit if well estimated couple with the rising price of dollar to naira could afford to buy 5 bags of rice.

To Faleke’s sympathizers, he was Kogi State Governor-in-Waiting, having suffered a terrific blow in both the Tribunal and Appeal Court. I watched as Faleke settled down comfortably waiting for the ‘’legal show’’ to begin.

At around some minutes past ten, the lawyers numbering over 300 were seated, the seven Judges appeared with the shout of ‘’courrt’’, the case was...Read More Here: http://www.post-nigeria.com/how-faleke-cried-uncontrollably-after-supreme-courts-devastating-judgment-eye-witness-report/

Politics / Fani Kayode Replies EFCC Over N3.2 Billion Fraud by salterswan: 3:25pm On Mar 16, 2016
Following allegations that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had traced N3.145 billion transferred to the private accounts of some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Organization, the Director of Publicity of the organization, and former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has exonerated himself from the said allegation.

According to EFCC sources who spoke with The Nation, the said fund emanated from the account of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and was transferred to the account of a company, Joint Dimensions Limited, and then sent to various accounts.

Fani-Kayode was said to have received N840 million, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, and National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Chief Olu Falae, received N100 million through a company, Marreco Limited, where he is chairman.

However, the former aviation minister while reacting to the allegations maintained that at no time did he participate in the sharing of public funds during the 2015 presidential campaigns. He maintained that the funds used during the election were gotten from public and private donations.

“I served as the director of publicity and I was told to set up an account for the directorate, which I did. I never received money from the CBN but like all the other directors, we received money from... See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/fani-kayode-replies-efcc-over-n3-2-billion-fraud/
Politics / Ezekwesili, Soludo, Okonjo Iweala To Make Buhari’s Economic Team by salterswan: 3:07pm On Mar 16, 2016
Nigerians across board have begun to wonder where the Nigerian economy is heading to as it has under-performed for the past few months.

Economic pundits and analyst have longed advocated diverse measures and palliatives but it seems that the government of the day is hell bent at having its way.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government has over the last few months brought untold hardship to many Nigerians as the nation is practically wallowing in poverty, inflation, fuel scarcity, high electricity tariff, outrageous taxes, and unemployment.

Recall that during the 2015 presidential election, the All Progressives Congress, APC, was voted on the platform of “Change”, as the party promised to transform the economy by creating jobs, building infrastructures, providing social interventions, amongst other promises.

Politics / Tinubu’s Name Pops Up On Long List Of Alleged Looters by salterswan: 3:29pm On Dec 12, 2015
The investigation by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, into an alleged misappropriation of $2.1bn meant for an arms deal has taken another twist as the publisher of Nation Newspaper and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu confessed that he received a “ paltry sum of N9 million’’ of the alleged loot.

Tinubu, in a statement on Page 4 of the Nation Newspaper dated December 12, 2015 disclosed that the Former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki gave his organization the money through the publisher of ThisDay newspapers, Nduka Obaigbena, as compensation for the disruption of their operations and attack on their personnel by soldiers in June 2014.

The Goodluck Jonathan-led government through the security agencies had on June 2014 clamped down on some newspaper delivery vans following a tip off that they were used to convey bombs to Abuja by the Boko Haram sect.

“About a week later, the government made good its promise. Obaigbena sent a draft of N9m to the NATION, saying that the money was from the Jonathan government,” Tinubu said through the Managing Director of Vintage Press, Victor Ifijeh.

He added: “No further payment was made to the NATION by any other person, organization or body on behalf of the Jonathan government.”

Obaigbena had told the EFCC investigating disbursement of funds from the office of the NSA that payments made to him were for 12 newspapers and for his company’s losses during a Boko Haram attack in 2012.

He said Dasuki, paid him N670 million as compensation for the Boko Haram bomb attack on ThisDay office, and an additional N120 million on behalf 12 newspapers under the aegis of Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, as compensation for the attacks on newspapers.

Several Newspapers like Peoples Daily, Tribune and New Telegraph had earlier denied receiving the money but Tinubu’s owned newspaper admitted receiving N9 million from the money.

The confession came on the heels of the anti-graft agency having detected another line of payments made to companies linked to Thisday publisher and owner of Arise Television.

The investigators said Obaigbena was paid at least N650million from a questionable transaction with Dasuki.

The anti-graft agency had last week arrested the Former Chairman of DAAR communication Raymond Dokpesi for collecting N2.2bn from the office of the former NSA.

Confirming that the Nation partook in the alleged loot, Tinubu said: “The Nation was one of the 12 Newspapers named by the President of the Newspapers Proprietor Association of Nigeria, NPAN, Nduka Obaigbena, as beneficiaries of the sum of N120 million obtained from the office of the Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.”

Politics / REVEALED: How Tinubu Company Received N10m From Dasuki by salterswan: 5:34pm On Dec 11, 2015
Leader of the All Progressives’ Congress, APC, Ahmed Tinubu, and owner of the NATION NEWSPAPER may be dragged into an ongoing investigation of the alleged misappropriation of $2billion in an arms deal by former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

This comes to light as the President of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN, and owner of THISDAY, Nduka Obaigbena confirmed its members received N10m through him from Dasuki.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, investigating the $2.1bn arms deal had detected a fund transfer linked to Obaigbena, who allegedly received N650m from an unknown transaction.

Reacting to these allegations, in a letter dated December 9, 2015 and sent to EFCC on Friday, Obaigbena promised to honor the commission’s invitation after returning from the United States of America, US, and insisted that he never received any “suspicious” payment from Dasuki.

He further explained that the funds received were compensations for his company after suffering a Boko Haram attack in April 2012.

He also said he received compensation on behalf of other Newspaper proprietors following the brutal and unlawful seizure of newspapers and stoppage of circulation by armed soldiers in Abuja and several cities.

Politics / How Can Buhari Really Say He’s Fighting Corruption? – Chief Justice by salterswan: 5:06pm On Dec 01, 2015
Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Mahmud Mohammed, has decried what he termed a “lack of political will” by previous and current governments to prosecute high profile corruption cases.

He also insisted that the blame game between the judiciary and executive arms of government in tackling corruption have always been stalled on the altar of political exigencies.

CJN stated this while counseling Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation/Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) on the need to eschew political affiliations and bias in the fight against corruption.

Mohammed bared his mind during a meeting with the AGF, condemning further in a statement issued by his media aide, the lackluster attitude of government towards the prosecution of criminal cases “especially those involving politically exposed persons or political party family members.”

“Experience within the Judiciary shows that there is abject lack of political will to prosecute some of those cases pending before our various courts almost a decade in some instances. It is not because there are no special courts, but mostly for reasons of political expedience and other ancillary considerations.
“I would likewise wish to encourage you (AGF) to display a greater resolve than your predecessors in tackling outstanding cases before the courts. In times past, the Attorney General of the Federation would often lead teams of legal counsel in high profile cases so as to demonstrate the resolve of the government to enshrine the rule of law.

“Sadly, recent Attorneys-General have become less inclined to do this. I would certainly like to see you, as the Attorney General, appear before us especially in cases of important national purport.

“There is the need for seasoned prosecutors to prepare and file charges before courts of competent jurisdiction so that criminal matters are timeously determined.”

Buhari has since come under attack for trying his political enemies in the pages of newspapers only without strengthening the legal process which experts have recommended as the constitutional procedures for fighting corruption cases.

With his friendly disposition with suspected corrupt members of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, who were major financiers during his election, the promise of stamping out corruption may be hanging in the air, as experts have predicted a stalemate in his anti-corruption mantra. Politics / Ex-ppmc Boss Threatens Legal Action Against Spin Doctors by salterswan: 4:43pm On Dec 01, 2015
Former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, PPMC, Haruna Momoh, who has constantly come under fire from major oil barons and cabals in Nigeria, has threatened legal action against spin doctors for attacks on his integrity.

A source close to the family revealed that he is fed up with the forces who are hell bent on denting his image and have parroted false accusations about him and his family.

Momoh has since come under attacks because of his dogged approach in stamping out corruption in the Kerosene scam, a racket by some top oil marketers used to milk the country dry. On account of this, spin doctors have been used for false image laundering about him, especially since the former President, Goodluck Jonathan lost his re-election bid in March 2015.

Some PPMC insiders say Huruna’s tenure was based on the mantra of “demystifying the racket in kerosene subsidy scam.”

Amongst those mentioned in this campaign is Forte Oil chairman, Femi Otedola who upon investigation has renewed his attacks of false corruption allegations against Momoh and his family for standing as a stumbling block against him in the industry.
BBC correspondent Sam Piranty falsely reported sighting Momoh at the Charring Cross Police station in London, as security operatives quizzed the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

However few days later, facts revealed that the BBC reporter’s account was only a ploy against the former PPMC boss, and he tendered an apology to the Momoh family.

Following this, reports have also been circulated purportedly alleging that Momoh and Diezani had both fallen out, this according to a close source was expected to create heightened tension and reports of alleged returned stolen funds back to the federal government’s treasury.

Upon investigation by POST NIGERIA, this has since been proven to be untrue and the alleged acrimony and return of stolen funds was parroted by an oil magnate who is currently gunning to buy Nigeria’s refineries.
A family friend who spoke to POST NIGERIA pled anonymity and said “If you know this man, you will see that all this talk about stolen money is just lies. These spin doctors are just cowards.

“He has not fallen out with anybody and has not made any dirty deals.”

Momoh has however continued to state he did not loot public funds.
Politics / Tinubu Did Not Kill Prince Audu – Okorocha by salterswan: 4:51pm On Nov 23, 2015
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has distanced himself a statement credited to him by one Olutoyosi Omotoso accusing the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu as the mastermind behind the demise of the Kogi State APC governorship candidate, Audu Abubakar.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo on Monday, November 23, Okorocha there was no rift between him and Tinubu and consequently, the indicting statement was unwarranted.

He therefore described the report as one that was “totally false and cannot pass any logic to be believed,” adding “It was written in bad faith.”

The report credited to one Olutoyosi and entitled; “Tinubu, others killed Kogi Guber candidate-Okorocha”, was published on the Facebook account of the author.

The statement reads in part: “In the basically untrue report, the author claimed that the Imo Governor had accused the former Governor of Lagos state and one of the key pillars of the APC in the country, Senator Bola Tinubu and others he didn’t mention, of being responsible for the death of the APC governorship candidate in Kogi state, Prince Abubakar Audu.

“The report came up Sunday (November 22, 2016) evening and of course, few hours after the news of the death of the Kogi Prince were still in doubt by most Nigerians”.
“In the report, the author however failed or refused to mention or tell his audience whether Governor Okorocha had made that claim at a press conference or in a press release, but unfortunately and unintelligently said that the Imo Governor spoke on phone to say that.

“The truth of the matter is that, the report was totally false, even on the face value. It cannot pass any logic to be believed. It was written in bad faith.....See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/tinubu-did-not-kill-prince-audu-okorocha/

Politics / How I Gave $5.6bn To Buhari – Diezani by salterswan: 1:15pm On Nov 23, 2015
Former Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Alison-Madueke Diezani has revealed that the bailout funds for states were made possible because she left $5.6bn in the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG, during her stint in office.

Diezani who has been battling with cancer made this shocking revelation during the concluding part of her interview with the Publisher of the Boss Newspaper and Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu in the United Kingdom.

She maintained that her determination to save money for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration immediately the administration she served lost the 2015 poll constrained her to leave such a whopping sum of money in the NLNG account.

On the assumption of office, the plea by some State Governors to Buhari for rescue in order to pay workers salary gave birth to the release of the sum of N1.2trn as bailout fund.

At least 12 of the 36 States including Osun, Rivers, Oyo, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Ondo, Plateau, Benue, and Bauchi states were believed to owe their workers over N110billion in salaries and allowances.

That came on the heels of a Buhari statement claiming the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led government left a “virtually empty treasury.”

Following the release of the fund, the PDP in a statement through its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh insisted that the fund was saved by the immediate past administration. See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/how-i-gave-5-6bn-to-buhari-diezani/
Politics / Why Are We Silent Over The Death Of Our Brothers? #kanoattack #yolaattack by salterswan: 5:13pm On Nov 19, 2015
“All these people who claimed to be activists, advocates and heartfelt sympathizers who tweeted and posted every single time Boko Haram struck … during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, but who have now suddenly become blind, deaf and dumb in the wake of the continuing carnage by the same Boko Haram under this government….#Yolaattack”

I read this from a friend’s Facebook wall, as usual I took the liberty to tinker a little with the rage in his choice of words as he poured out what was weighing on his mind.

Consider this. President Muhammadu Buhari narrowly escaped death in the twin bomb blasts that rocked Kaduna on Wednesday 23rd July 2014, hence he understands the challenge before his door steps.

Death and sleep are two sides of a coin. When sleep takes the centre stage, our human faculties are dead; dead to reason, to smell, to fears, to the thirst for triumph, to the fear of failure, to think, to fantasize, and to glory in the vanity of Chelsea and José Mourinho.

Remember how those people my friend was referring to haunted former President Goodluck Jonathan anytime the bandits detonated an Improvised Explosive Device, IED?

Many rallied around the then opposition APC to blackmail the Commander-in-Chief and almost took him to the cleaners. Some gained attraction as they consistently updated their Facebook status and Twitter handles with the number of casualties in every attack.

They were able to drag CNN into the country, and they reported on a day by day basis, updates of bomb blast in the country. It was a stage of propaganda, they made sure that the whole world focused on us.

Senator John McCain, former presidential candidate in the United States of America, USA, lambasted our military and leaders. Not long after, those people my friend was referring made sure Malala, winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace came calling.

Why then have we suddenly kept mute with the latest round of bombings? Hmm, like crude oil spilling on pristine waters, it was a dangerous gamble.

Everyone seems persuaded by the aberration that President Muhammadu Buhari was the answer to Boko Haram’s bloodshed, this idea has altered our lives and values as a people.

What went wrong? Where are the advocates against Boko Haram? Where is the #Bringbackourgirls group? I taught we agreed to always put the Government on its toes. Read more here: http://www.post-nigeria.com/why-are-we-silent-over-the-death-of-our-brothers-by-emeka-thomas/
Politics / REVEALED: Oil Baron Otedola In Major Cover Up Scandal by salterswan: 3:45pm On Nov 19, 2015
Oil magnate Femi Otedola is said to have tendered an apology to the Haruna Momoh family, following a feud which involved a sustained onslaught of attacks on the latter’s family in various sponsored media reports.

Momoh was relieved of his duty at the PPMC immediately Ibe Kachikwu was appointed the new sheriff at the NNPC, a move which was motivated by Otedola and his cronies who parroted unsubstantiated corruption allegations against Momoh, only as a result of his dogged approach towards stamping out Otedola’s grand standing with his companies in the kerosene subsidy scam.

The sustained corruption attacks and lavish lifestyle peddled by some aspects of the media (online) against Momoh have been a hatched plan by his adversaries, chief of whom is Otedola, to stain and distort his image to the general public.

Otedola is said to be heading for very difficult times with the new regime in place, and would rather have the ex-PPMC boss go down instead.

It started with a false alarm about Momoh’s arrest by the London metropolitan police on October 5, which went viral, and claims by certain agents that he was sighted entering Charing Cross Police Station.

This has since been dispelled by both the U.K Police and foreign journalists who were present at the police station on that day.

Following this unsuccessful attempt at damaging his image, Otedola sponsored some persons who claimed to be Momoh’s relatives, all in a bid to draw the attention of anti-corruption bodies in Nigeria and U.K.

The motive behind Otedola’s latest onslaught, is the imminent sale of the nation’s refineries, which the current administration has promised to carry out in confirmation to world standards of transparency.

Otedola’s acts are seen as media cleansing of his image, against Momoh who prevented him from leaking the country dry from his masked subsidy racketeering.

Otedola has been accused of illegally influencing behind the scenes occurrences in the build up to the sale of refineries while being implicated as a major figure in a huge $6.8 billion fuel subsidy fraud.

This led to several clashes between him and the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke.

When an investigative committee was launched against Otedola and other marketers, it was revealed that fraudulent occurrences as disclosed by the committee were lurid, but hardly shocking. The report confirmed public suspicion that the bloated expenditure on fuel subsidy was the latest scam in town.

It underscored how fuel marketers, a small cartel chosen by some of Otedola and allies, raked in billions of Dollars in illicit, fraudulent profits. The committee exposed the many schemes used to steal Nigerians to stupor in the name of fuel subsidies. See more http://www.post-nigeria.com/revealed-oil-baron-in-major-cover-up-scandal/
Politics / Buhari Dares Tinubu, Sacks EFCC Chairman. Pic: Sack Letter by salterswan: 6:23pm On Nov 09, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has finally bowed to pressure by sacking the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC, Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, who has been accused of being a mole and stooge of national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.

He has been replaced by Ibrahim Mogu, a top level official with the Economic and Governance unit of the EFCC.

POST NIGERIA had earlier revealed plans to replace Lamorde when Buhari through the Ministry of Justice ordered his immediate probe over and alleged diversion of N1trn believed to be proceeds of corruption recovered by the agency on his watch. Politics / WATCH: Minister: Buhari Denies Amaechi by salterswan: 5:18pm On Nov 03, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has consciously denied the Ministerial nominee whose nomination deepened the rift between Senators from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the Senate’s screening and confirmation.

Buhari issued this disclaimer during a press conference, after the India-Africa Summit, in New Delhi, stating he doubted he had ever met the nominee since the nomination process was a team effort.

When asked if he was bothered over the polarisation of the Senate following the confirmation of one of his ministerial nominees he said;

“You see, this is a team work. They say I know people but there are people I accept in our team, I trust without knowing them. May be the one that has problem in the National Assembly, I doubt if I have ever met him in my life (coughs).
“I did not work into the Presidency alone; I have to depend on the three tiers of government from all parts of the country. I have to work with the constitution.”

When Post Nigeria contacted the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina via telephone, he said the President could not possibly deny Amaechi.

“You must be joking, His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari cannot deny Amaechi. Listen to the video clip again,” Adesina said before abruptly ending the call. See video here: http://www.post-nigeria.com/watch-minister-buhari-denies-amaechi/
Politics / Confab: It Will Be Foolish Of Buhari To Throwaway Report – Member by salterswan: 4:58pm On Nov 03, 2015
A member of the 2014 National Conference, Akin Oyebode has stated it would be irrational for President Muhammadu Buhari to discard recommendations from the confab report, recommending that an executive committee be mandated to implement vital components of the report.

Oyebode gave this warning during an interview with Daily Trust, warning of an imminent danger if the report is jettisoned on the basis that the conference was initiated during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said insinuations that the report would be discarded by the Buhari-led administration would be disastrous to the nation.

“It would be injudicious to throw away the report of the confab even though it was allegedly convened to promote and project the second term agenda of the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

“Why should we spend so much money and throw the report in trash bin? It would be injudicious and unwise to throw away the report of the confab.”

Shortly before ex-President Jonathan left office, he forwarded copies of the confab report to the National Assembly for action and also informed Buhari that the confab report was more important than his handover note. Politics / The One Too Many Lies Of The NNPC GMD by salterswan: 5:49pm On Oct 28, 2015
Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Emmanuel Kachikwu despite being accused of numerous contradictory statements has again apportioned the nation’s inability to optimally refine crude to obsolete equipment.

Kachikwu made this known through the Executive Director, Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, PPMC, Aisha Katagwu at the ninth Oil Trading & Logistics, OTL, Expo in Lagos.

The NNPC boss during his ministerial screening had on October 14, claimed the Kaduna refinery having gone through routine maintenance and checks, would begin the refining of crude oil the following day.

Unfortunately, Post Nigeria gathered that the said refinery was yet to receive crude.

See: http://www.post-nigeria.com/kachikwu-lied-kaduna-refinery-cannot-receive-crude/

In another scenario Kachikwu while speaking on behalf of the Federal Government said “By the end of December when the 90-day ultimatum will expire, any refinery that does not work optimally will be sold.”

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in reaction to the statement queried the GMD NNPC, clarifying that the Federal Government was not in any way planning to sell the nation’s four refineries or any part of its stakes in joint venture assets in the oil and gas sector.

See: http://www.post-nigeria.com/osinbajo-counters-kachikwus-recent-statement/

July 30, the NNPC boss through the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Ohi Alegbe, had disclosed that both the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries had successfully begun the refining of crude as the duo had been re-streamed after a nine-month phased rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.

See:http://www.post-nigeria.com/port-harcourt-warri-refineries-almost-fully-functional-nnpc/

Despite the billions spent on rehabilitating the refineries few months ago, Kachikwu on Tuesday, October 27 reiterated the call for more funds to be made available for another round of maintenance.

The calls buttressed Kachikwu’s earlier statement during the ministerial screening were he openly campaigned for a fresh round of refinery maintenance before the lawmakers. See more lies here: http://www.post-nigeria.com/the-one-too-many-lies-of-the-nnpc-gmd/
Politics / Akpabio: I Must Recover All Stolen Funds – Buhari by salterswan: 5:13pm On Oct 28, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his resolve to continue his anti-corruption mantra aimed at eradicating and prosecuting corrupt public officials whom the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and other anti-corruption bodies have found guilty.

He added that Nigerians should be prepared as the anti-corruption campaign would persist for many years.

Buhari made this declaration while addressing members of the Nigerian community in New Delhi India, conveyed by a statement issued by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to ensure plugging of leakages in public sector finances and reducing corruption in the country.

“The anti-corruption campaign will be ongoing for many years. We are committed to the enthronement of good governance that plugs the loopholes in public sector accounting, and the use of scarce resources for public good.
“We are determined to demonstrate exemplary leadership that will make our citizens to change their ways in a manner that lays a solid foundation for reconstruction and development.

“I am confident that our approach to fighting corruption through value re-orientation, improved internal processes and systems and the rule of law, as well as enhancing the capacity of the various anti-corruption agencies and institutions will prove more enduring in addressing this evil.

It could be recalled that the EFCC had quizzed the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio for alleged mismanagement and defrauding the state of N101.8bn and piling up debts for the State.

This allegation has since been denied but the Presidency has insisted that the full wrath of the law must take its course. See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/akpabio-i-must-recover-all-stolen-funds-buhari/
Politics / Buhari Runs To India Amidst Boko Haram Crisis by salterswan: 6:03pm On Oct 26, 2015
Few days after insurgents laid siege in Maiduguri and Yola, leaving dozens dead and 96 injured, President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded plans to depart Abuja on Tuesday, October 27 for New Delhi, India to participate in the 3rd India-Africa Socio-cultural Summit.

This was confirmed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, stating the summit would afford Nigeria the opportunity of integrating its culture with that of India.

Buhari had earlier insisted that suicide bombings may not end by December, saying desperate actions like detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, are expected to go beyond the deadline given to the Military for the eradication of insurgents.

With palpable tension now on the rise over heightened attacks from insurgents on major towns like Kuje and Nyanya in Abuja, Maiduguri, Yola in Borno and Adamawa respectively, Buhari has decided to pursue a 4-day cultural relationship with India leaving Nigerians in fear and apprehension.
According to Adesina, the India trip is expected to accelerate current socio-cultural ties, eradicate hunger, poverty and illiteracy between both countries. See the PDP governor Buhari selected to travel with him: http://www.post-nigeria.com/buhari-runs-to-india-amidst-boko-haram-crisis/

Politics / PICS: Just Like GEJ, PMB Hires Mercenaries To Battle Boko Haram by salterswan: 4:41pm On Oct 22, 2015
With the December deadline given to the Nigerian military by President Muhammadu Buhari to end and crush insurgency in the N/East gradually elapsing, senior military sources have confirmed that 250 South African mercenaries have been hired to meet the deadline.

Buhari in September, had given the military a December deadline to completely weed out Boko Haram elements in the ongoing counter insurgency operation. However the military has expressed doubt over the possibility of meeting the deadline, attributing logistics and weather as possible hindrances to meeting the deadline.

In order to accelerate the anti-insurgency fight, top military source at the Nigeria Defense Headquarters who spoke on anonymity to Anadolu Agency have confirmed that an estimated 250 mercenaries hired from South Africa based private contractor Specialized Task, Training, Equipment and Protection, STTEP, are being deployed along with fighter jets in Operation Fire Force. STTEP includes veterans from the South African apartheid era who will work with and train a Nigerian strike force, according to the source.

“The mercenaries have been reengaged and their platforms are being deployed,” the source said.

Politics / Amaechi Must Be Minister, Even If Corrupt – APC Youth Forum by salterswan: 5:06pm On Oct 19, 2015
The All Progressives Youth Forum, APYF, under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has demanded that the embattled former Governor of Rivers State and ministerial nominee Rotimi Amaechi be given accelerated screening and confirmation by the Senate and referred to corruption charges against him as mere political “obstructionism.”

The forum in a statement signed by its Chairman, Ismaeel Ahmed cleared Amaechi of any corrupt activities and subtlety confirmed him as a “saint” adding that the Senate should institute an accelerated process in his confirmation as a Minister.

“The All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) commends the strides and performances of the Ministerial nominees sent in by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Senate confirmation Hearings.

“While acknowledging the constitutional right and independence of the parliament to conduct such hearings uninterrupted by anyone or anything, it behooves on us to call on them to do so without recourse to personal vendetta or partisan obstructionism.”

Amaechi’s confirmation by President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to generate ripples from the Senate over corruption allegations during his tenure as Rivers Governor.

His screening process has been postponed twice over the inability of the Senate Committee on Ethics Privileges and Public Petitions to submit its report.
In reaction, the forum insisted that Amaechi should be confirmed as a Minister on the basis of his financial contribution towards the success of the APC during the presidential election.

Politics / Chibok Girls: Association Of Idol Worshipers Offers To Rescue Army by salterswan: 1:54pm On Oct 19, 2015
A group of Ifa worshipers, under the umbrella of Ancient Religious Societies of African Descendants International Council, ARSADIC, have offered to assist the Nigerian Army in the ongoing counter insurgency war against Boko haram insurgents, advocating for traditional oath taking for politicians as a panacea for curbing corruption.

The group stated this through its Chairman, Executive Working Committee, EWC, Olalekan Ifagbenuola, at a press conference held at Ile Ife, appealing for recognition and collaboration with President Muhammadu Buhari in the ongoing efforts to ensure the rescue of the kidnapped 276 Chibok girls and eventual defeat of the insurgents.

“If proper oath of allegiance is taken genuinely, our leaders would not misbehave when they get to power. If the oath is taken in a traditional religious way, they will not misbehave.
“There must be fear of God in anything we do.”

“Corrupt leaders in offices promote crimes and if our leaders are honest, the level of crime in the country will greatly reduce. We are ready to assist to tackle insurgency, if we are invited by the government.” See pic: http://www.post-nigeria.com/chibok-girls-association-of-idol-worshipers-offers-to-rescue-army/
Politics / Ministers: Lonely Amaechi Gets Fulani Herdsmen Support by salterswan: 3:20pm On Oct 15, 2015
A Fulani group under the umbrella of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for considering former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi for ministerial appointment.

The group gave this declaration after meeting with its members from Benue and Nasarawa states on Tuesday, insisting that Amaechi posses the requisite skills and knowledge needed in achieving the plans and promises of the Buhari administration.

The secretary of MACBAN and its National legal adviser Barr. Garus Gololo stated this on behalf of the group at the end of their meeting, insisting that Amaechi’s 8 years experience as a governor would be a vital resource to the Buhari Administration.

An anti-corruption body had petitioned the nomination of Amaechi for the position of minister over alleged corruption offences committed during his tenure as governor.

The group argued that Amaechi is yet clear his name over allegations of fraud concerning the sale of the State power plants and conversion of proceeds running into $302 million, unlawful payment of over N4 billion to Clinoriv Specialist Hospital and unlawful enrichment of a firm, Messrs Collect Nigeria Ltd., with public funds amounting to over N1.5 billion.

Following the petition against his nomination, the senate had on Tuesday postponed his screening, pending the final report from the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions. See picture here: http://www.post-nigeria.com/ministers-lonely-amaechi-gets-fulani-herdsmen-support/
Politics / Kachikwu Lied, Kaduna Refinery Cannot Receive Crude by salterswan: 3:04pm On Oct 15, 2015
Report emerged, Thursday, that the Kaduna refinery is yet to start receiving crude oil contrary to the claims of the General Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Co-operation, NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

Speaking exclusively to Post Nigeria, a source who pleaded anonymity maintained that the NNPC boss was being economical with the truth because the plants are not yet in good order, let alone ready to receive crude oil for production.

Kachikwu, a ministerial nominee and Group Managing Director of the NNPC, during the screening on Wednesday on the floor of the senate revealed that the moribund refinery was in good condition and would commence operation today, Thursday.

“We just finished repairs on the pipelines, we would begin pumping crude into Kaduna refinery tomorrow (Thursday) and over the next four five days, they would get the stock that they need to get the plant kicking.”

He argued that any refinery that “produces below 60 percent is no production, because the reality is that the performing capacity of refineries worldwide are in the 90 percent and above categories. That’s when you begin to make yields that turn into a profitable refinery.”

In reaction, the highly placed source in Kaduna refinery dismissed the statement by the NNPC boss describing it as “a mere talk.”

“Even now, I was just discussing it with my superintendent. The issue of receiving crude today is just a mere talk; we haven’t started receiving anything, because we are still working seriously to be prepared.”

He added: “we are not ready to receive crude because the plant is not all that ready. So what will we need the crude for as stated by him?

“The maintenance work, all things being equal, before November ending it will be done.”

Political analysts are of the view that the NNPC boss speaking from both sides of his mouth will pose a disaster for the oil sector. See more revelations here: http://www.post-nigeria.com/kachikwu-lied-kaduna-refinery-cannot-receive-crude/
Politics / Buhari Wrong To Call Ministers “noise Makers” – Tinubu by salterswan: 4:57pm On Oct 12, 2015
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has affirmed that it was incorrect for President Muhammadu Buhari to describe his list of Ministers as “noisemakers.”

Tinubu, disclosed this through the Nation Newspaper,in an article titled “A case for Ministers” describing the pronouncement as unfortunate.

The APC leader stressed that Ministers are key officials whose role is to assist the Chief Executive in the formulation of policies while explaining the position of government to the populace.

“To claim, therefore, as the president did, that the work of governance is performed by the bureaucrats is misplaced.
“They are men and women of stature who have distinguished themselves in other spheres of life and might have contributed immensely to the making of the government. To dismiss them as noise-makers is to lower their esteem in the eyes of the public and the civil servants.

“We hope the presidential slip would not lead to unnecessary competition and friction between the ministers and the top bureaucrats in the ministries; it must be made clear that the ministers are the bosses.”

He however said that the expectations of Nigerians are high on Buhari and his team of Ministers who are emerging after a four month wait.

“We expect so much from President Buhari and his team of ministers. During the election, the president promised to give the entire gamut of public administration a facelift. He pledged himself to offer change.

“There can be no excuse for failure, he needs to assure the country that he was able to come up with the best materials after four months of search, if an anticlimax.

“The task ahead is quite enormous. All the ministries must begin to work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals which the developed world has already achieved; and moved to attaining the newly launched Sustainable development Goals.” See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/buhari-wrong-to-call-ministers-noise-makers-tinubu/
Politics / Ministers: APC, PDP Senators Set For Showdown by salterswan: 3:47pm On Oct 12, 2015
Ahead of the Senate screening on President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet nominees slated for Tuesday October 13th, Senators of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have expressed determination and readiness to shield the nominees from any possible plot from Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Senate Leader Ali Ndume gave this warning to his PDP counterparts during an interview with Daily Trust, adding that APC senators were prepared for any showdown during the screening process, insisting that the requirement where nominees are expected to get an endorsement from at least 2 Senators before confirmation would not be applicable.

“We won’t allow the PDP senators to disqualify the ministerial nominees because they are qualified and suitable for the federal cabinet in line with the constitution of the country.
“Even though we will allow the PDP senators to do their job, we will not allow them to use any selfish interest to push down the ministerial nominees. The interest of the country should be the utmost interest of all of us now.

“Let me tell you, the issue of getting two senators is not sacrosanct.”

As part of plans to ensure a transparent and inclusive screening process, Senate President Bukola Saraki outlined procedures aimed at ensuring that all nominees go through a thorough vetting process acceptable by all parties during the exercise.

The nomination of former Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi sparked outrage and condemnation over the corruption perpetuated during his tenure as Governor.

The nomination of the Amina Muhammed from Kaduna has also faced rejection from Senators in the State based on doubts of the status of her indigeneship.

In a move to ensure a soft landing during the screening exercise, ministerial nominees have been lobbying and reaching out to Senators across both divides in order to ensure a hitch free process.

Reacting to reports that nominees are lobbying the PDP senators, Ndume stated that ...http://www.post-nigeria.com/ministers-apc-pdp-senators-set-for-showdown/
Politics / I Saw Alamieyeseigha In Heaven – “prophet” Okupe by salterswan: 2:40pm On Oct 12, 2015
Former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe has disclosed that the late former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is in heaven and is now wearing “a crown of glory.”

Okupe made this known in his tribute message where he stated that the deceased was a good Christian as he forgave his jailer, former President Olusegun Obasanjo under whose administration he was convicted of embezzling state funds.

Alamieyeseigha, ten years after the anger arising from the impeachment and subsequent imprisonment, in September, before his demise said he had forgiven all those who plotted and sent him to jail purely for political reasons.

He however added at the time that the experience remained very painful to him.

“I have forgiven all those who plotted against me, including former President Obasanjo.
“I know all those who plotted against me and sent me to jail. I cannot be living in the past as it does not help me in any way.

“What I passed through is painful all right but it would not have happened if it was not permitted by God.

“It is even more important to me that I am still alive today because I passed through many shadows of the valleys of death and still came out of them. “I have met Obasanjo at very close quarters twice since I came out of prison.

“But I held his hands. He was scared and he felt uneasy all through. Then he began to ask ‘DSP, DSP, DSP! What have I done to deserve shaking your hands?’ There were many people there; one of them was Kenny Martins, the then chairman of the Police Equipment Fund.

“I told Obasanjo ‘I was only shaking you for two reasons: one-because of the fear of the Almighty God, who created us and two, for the fact that I am the Ganuma Katsina and you are a visitor to my emirate and tradition demands that I should welcome visitors.”

“That prompted Kenny to get up also and greet me, saying ‘great leader, great leader’ and he came and hugged me,” Alamieyeseigha said

According to Okupe who is always known for his biblical references said, Alamieyeseigha “Also like a good Christian he openly, publicly and sincerely forgave former President Obasanjo who was his jailer.

“DSP you have run a good race and fought a good fight. A sure crown awaits you with our lord, your maker.
“As the crown prince of ijaw nation bows out may the God Almighty who till this day still stands with his people. Stand by and bless your people you have left behind.”

Okupe expressing ill feelings on some comments regarding Alamieyeseigha death slammed Nigerians for passing judgment on their leaders insisting that only God can judge.

“I am amazed at the degree of disrespect, lack of etiquette, and complete loss of decorum among our people.
“What I feel is real and personal. Some may like it some may not but why the abuse and insult? Not even the dead is spared!

Politics / Security Watch! Orji Uzo-kalu, An “illiterate” – Tinubu by salterswan: 1:29pm On Oct 12, 2015
National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has taken a weighty swipe at the former Governor of Abia State Orji Kalu for authorizing a report alleging that the Presidency has launched a security surveillance ring around him (Tinubu) over an alleged plot against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu who stated this in a statement through the Chairman, Board of Editors, Nation Newspaper Sam Omatseye on Monday titled “ Kalu For FIFA President” said Kalu had to be an illiterate for allowing such publication to emanate from his newspaper stable.

The Sun Newspaper had reported on Saturday, October 10 that Tinubu was under watch over an alleged plot against Buhari for purportedly ignoring his nominees for ministerial positions.

According to SUN, a close associate of Tinubu, who pleaded for anonymity, stated that indeed the APC leader was badly hurt by the rejection of his ministerial nominees by Buhari.

Tinubu alleged he would, however, not have a hand in pulling down “a house he almost single-handedly built with his efforts and resources.”

Rather than pick the choice of Tinubu in the S/West, Buhari selected former Governors Babatunde Fashola (Lagos) and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), both estranged political godsons of Tinubu.

In swift response, Omatseye’s attack went; “I have always tried to restrain from writing on Orji Kalu, a former Abia State governor. But who can ignore his laughable new ambition.

“He wants to be FIFA boss. I laugh even as I pen these words. What struck me first was a conversation he had with editors when somebody asked him about his educational qualifications.
“We are talking about forwarding Abia to all forwardness, he said with a flourish, ‘and you are talking about certificate (sic).’ Is this the sort of literacy you want for Nigeria? Nada. In local parlance, we should say he has committed foul, or ‘fa-fa-fa foul!!”

“Not long ago, he embarked on a nationwide trip from state to state, visiting governors. It was more of ego trip. He was jobless and bored, although boorish.

“He was, however, not boring because of his disastrous elocution and capacity to amuse after he had left the scene of his performance.

“Never mind that he writes a column. I would want him to write that column in public, so we can know if he is capable of the literacy he poses.

“Only a Kalu could have encouraged a headline last Saturday saying that Asiwaju Tinubu was under surveillance for a plot against Buhari. Publishers like him make editors look unprofessional.

“The story did not pass Journalism 101 test. If there was surveillance, what was the nature? The man was not even around? Two, if there was a plot, what was the nature of the plot, to overthrow him as President – which is treason; or to unseat him in APC?

“When a man does not know the difference between verb and noun, how can he become a good boss of world football? How can he distinguish score as verb and as noun?

“No one will vote him boss of Southeast soccer. It is enough that Ochendo has made him a mouse in Abia State, so he dreams to be an elephant of world football. What megalomania!” See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/security-watch-orji-uzo-kalu-an-illiterate-tinubu/

Politics / PICTURE: BREAKING: Kashamu Losses Battle At Tribunal by salterswan: 4:55pm On Oct 09, 2015
The election of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district Buruji Kashamu has been nullified by the State Electoral Petition Tribunal sitting in Ogun State.

The Tribunal also kicked out the election of Adekoya Adesegun, a Member representing the Ijebu East/Ijebu North/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives as well as five other Members of the state House of Assembly.

The Tribunal said the elections did not comply with the Electoral Law.

The tribunal ordered fresh elections in some of the areas where infractions were observed.

Kashamu was once arrested by the United States government for alleged drug offences, an offence which led the NDLEA to institute an arrest on him.

He was famously held hostage in his apartment’s toilet in Lagos for six days as officers of the NDLEA raided his home and placed the inspiration for hit TV show “Orange is the New Black” under house arrest in June. Sports / Oliseh, Your Eagles Job Has Just Begun by salterswan: 3:48pm On Oct 09, 2015
On hearing about the squabbles between Sunday Oliseh and Vincent Enyeama in Belgium, what came to mind is “Oliseh’s Eagles Job has just begun.”

Reports from the Belgium camp allege that both men clashed after the Lille keeper openly challenged the decision to make Ahmed Musa the new captain. One thing made sure at the end was the punctuation of Enyeama’s career.

He was missing in the trip to Tanzania for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Dar es Salaam in September and the friendly against Niger Republic after losing his mother.

Antecedent hints to all previous Eagles handlers including Samson Siasia, Shaibu Amodu, and Stephen Keshi being involved in one clash or the other, either with the players or the NFF, this has come to be a definitive aspect of being the Super Eagles gaffer.

Oliseh has now taken a line right out of that playbook, perhaps it is in order to congratulate and welcome the 41 year old as the Super Eagles handler.

Clearly distracted, the Eagles fell to their Congolese counterparts in a friendly on Thursday night and the isssues to be dealt with seem to be rapidly stacking up.

Team Management
Few months at the helm have shown Oliseh must do more in terms of team management, starting from the dressing room. Crisis management will determine the success of the former Eagles midfielder; keeping the players and the media onside is crucial to a long reign for him.

It is baffling to see players receive the glory for successes or the coach singled out for failures. Synergy between both variables shows both have various degrees of responsibility for victory or failure. Oliseh will be aware more than most that he must not be intimidated by anyone while also understanding he is not a dictator. The farm belonging to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SFG, Olu Falae has again been invaded by suspected Fulani herdsmen, destroying and wrecking havoc on his produce, barely two weeks after he was released by his abductors.

Falae’s farm Manager Bruno ‎Akhigbodemen confirmed this when he took newsmen round the farm located at Ilado in Akure North Council area of Ondo State, declaring that over one kilometer plantation of maize was destroyed during the invasion that took place around 2am, Monday.

Akhigbodemen explained that the herdsmen arrived the farm with their cows and wrecked the havoc despite the terrible experience which led to Falae’s kidnap, adding that the incident has since been reported to the state Police Command for necessary action.

Politics / Buhari Ministers: IMF Confirms Nigeria Heading For Recession by salterswan: 2:09pm On Oct 07, 2015
Days after President Muhammadu Buhari sent the first tranche of his ministerial nominees, it is becoming clearer to Nigerians that the hope of fixing the economic challenges and setting a pathway for industrialization may not go beyond sheer “Body language” of the President, as yet again the International Monetary Fund, IMF, has downgraded Nigeria’s economic growth forecast for 2016.

This is coming just after the senate on Tuesday unveiled Buhari’s list of ministers, whom foreign and local investors have long anticipated, but to the surprise of many, it was without any glimpse of economic direction and further darkening the vial of the administration’s economic direction.

Notable amongst the 21 nominees for ministers are; Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, Rotimi Amaechi, others include Audu Ogbe, (Former PDP chairman) Kayode Fayemi, among others.

Few hours after the masquerades were finally unveiled, the IMF released a damming report about the Nigerian economy and other emerging economies, predicting a rather slow and sluggish growth pattern in 2016, and sending dark hopes to Nigerians and reaffirming the possibility of a recession as predicted by the Central bank of Nigeria, CBN, in its last Monetary Policy Committee meeting.

The IMF had earlier predicted a growth rate of 3.3 per cent in July for the rest of the year and 3.8 per cent for 2016. But in a report released Tuesday 6th (the day ministers were unveiled), it further reduced those figures to 3.1 per cent and 3.6 per cent respectively.

“The risk of an outcome worse than its forecast are more pronounced than they were just a few months ago”, the report declared.
IMF pointed out clear economic challenges facing the Nigerian economy as well as other emerging markets to include; See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/buhari-ministers-imf-confirms-nigeria-heading-for-recession/
