There is this negative attitude called PRIDE that is making some people to appear foolish in the eyes of others without them realizing it.

How will a grown man/woman be full of pride because of the wealth, intelligence, beauty, connection etc they possess without first trying to find out what do other people think about them. They assume people are envious of them while in actual sense they are irritating. Some people still gat dignity even with the little they have.

These set of people are so inconsequential, irrelevant and unattractive but while to them, the world revolves around them. It's a pity.

Nice one. Often times the character becomes an offshoot of what they have eventually become and not something that is inherent.

And as for your assertion about women marrying up and vice-versa, the younger women (21-25) are the ones driving this notion and when they get older and realizes it too late, they subsequently migrate to feminism.

The truth of the matter is that, women are complex beings who are driven by emotions, achievements, status, peer pressure etc. Even the less sophisticated ones that lives in the slum will do everything to wanna belong(fake life) how much more those that are already there.

There are still some down to earth women, but statistically, the percentage is nothing to write home about.
