I guess u must hav read dat he was in a private hosp from where his sample was sent to d lab. emog17: there are few medical schools in Nigeria that does medicine for 6yrs(only few fed uni) most are 7, 8 or 9yrs and it is nt because the person repeated year or ASUU strikes bt due to accreditation and re-accreditation problems most schools wt MDCN. evn in u.s and many parts of d world before u become a medical doctor u'll spend nothing less than 8yrs( 4yrs pre-med and 4yrs med)before u become a medical doctor. And mind u, it is nt jst 6yrs bt 6yrs of rigorous training without holidays(except easter and Xmas)and mch time to socialize. Imagine u doing anatomy, physiology & biochemistry in 18months that students dat major in these courses do for 4yrs each and u're expected to knw it better than them. I'm nt evn talking abt the clinical courses;pathology, pharmacology, Paediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, community medicine, surgery, psychiatry, radiology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, ward rounds, clinics, etc all these in jst 3yrs and u must be grounded in them. Now tell me those johesu dat studied 4 4 or 5yrs wat and wat do they do and how detailed do they go into it? It is nt the number of yrs u spent in sch dat matters bt wat u did within ur duration of study.

chukel: u want international best practices abi? Overseas, do patients "consult" pharmacists for treatment or do they go to pharmacy/pharmacists with prescription from doctors? Sorry to sound this way, but sometimes ur reasoning is warped. If there are long queue in the hospital, does it not translate to either few doctors or few hospitals. So government shud build more hospitals and/or employ more doctors chikina. Not pharmacists engaging in quack practice.

minkawe: Allied health workers is not a ridicule because we have a union that goes by that name constituting other health workers,and I'm sure NMA was not responsible for that nomenclature. The same way drugs are produced for human consumption so also it is for animals, why are you guys not canvassing for leadership of farms. I think most top notchers in pharmacy are into core production, people working themselves out to bring new drugs to fore, claiming patents.
Pharmaceutical companies in the United States are called "the big pharmacy" because contending with them is like fighting with Coca Cola, with a brand name worthing $40billon in franchise. aluunoble: You got it wrong! Sorry a doctor, even a House officer can not only do everything an long-standing experienced nurse can do but also does the work of a Pharmacist, Imaging Scientist, Laboratory Scientist, Physio etc.

Monthly Basic Salary: #120,000 (approx.)
Monthly Hazard Allowance #100,000
Monthly call duty (JUTH for instance as presently obtainable):#60,000

In a month, a House Officer (intern Medical Doctor) will smile home with #278,898.917 (approx #280,000; two hundred and eighty thousand naira?)

Obembe requested earlier on for our members, @ least ONE SSS Officer,ONE SOLDIER,pls remember not to attach a police officer so that their black uniform will not stain their ward suite!
