adeoladrg: I presently don't have the CONHESS figures.
Community pharmacists work in the communities, while hospital pharmacists work in hospitals.
Thing is, due to the diverse nature of pharmacy, pharmacists don't just sit and do one job. I know one pharmacy graduate working in an industry paying about 140,000. Closes at 4pm and resumes a locum job at a community pharmacy for about 80K and also does drug detailing. At the same time, he used his certificate to register a premise for about 400K annually. https://www.nairaland.com/1818712/nigerian-health-sector-face-janus. U wil find CONHESS structure there. |

igboboy3: I see what @drered is trying to do but while your extrapolation is a tad unbalanced, I appreciate the effort. A doctor can't head PSN and a pharmacist can't head the NMA or be a CMD. Why? The interpretation of extant laws governing these institutions require different qualifications. The term 'medically qualified' can only be fulfilled by doctors. If you want to make NAFDAC the exclusive preserve of pharmacists, change the qualification from 'good knowledge of pharmacy' to 'B.Pharm'. N:B - Don't overestimate the 'shared knowledge' between a doctor and a pharmacist o! Cheers must u b spoonfed? What is meant by good knowledge of pharmacy? Note: it dint say good knowledge of pharmacology. . . By the way dint u c good knowledge of food there? |

U shld nt b called doctors wen u don't ve a doctorate but physicians until u get one. A doctor is one who is a philosopher in his area n makes knowledge n nt jst a knowledge consumer lik our medical doctors. whether two or ten bachelors degree it doesn't give u a master until u do masters cos, if its so what wil u den say of BDS graduate who also bears Dr? . . All am saying is that there is professional doctorate even in art professions and there is research doctorate(Ph. D). |

Cmanforall: Then read this
He said 'If Pharmacology was Pharmacy, then pigs would fly'
Pharmacology is a 4-5yr course in nigerian universities. His statement reflects that hatred Pharmacists have for the pharmacologist, especially if they should be working together in any establishment. Pharmacologists here can attest to that..... No be to just fight Doctors, let them resolve their internal wickedness.... he said that inorder to tell u that its a section of pharmacy and nt pharmacy itself. . Even the Pharmacologist knws that. We love the Pharmacologist and they knw it. Besides, this Pharmacologist/pharmacist smth came as a result of that NMAite who is a Neuro-pharmacologist. |

ziga: In the hospital, the title Doctor is reserved for Physicians.
Our patients do not need any more confusion.
Physicians are called Docs
Nurses are Nurses
Pharmacists are pharmacists
Lab scientists are lab scientists.
Everybody should love and practice their profession!
And whoever does not want to be listening to Docs in a hospital, should get another job or go back to school.
Afterall, lots of people do it. It is okay for people to think they can do better than the Docs we have, just as long as they do it the right way. By going to med school. ok. . . In inference, our patient should remain ignorant. |

alentyno: No it must not be marketing.... You can go into lecturing, you can also work in hospitals (where u will be paid btw 100-150k monthly).....But the basic truth about pharmacy is that if you want to enjoy it to the fullest, you just have to strive as much as possible to practice outside nigeria preferably in the UK. Why? Because the starting salary as of now is $80,000/yr! So if you are still a student, I advice that: 1. Do all you can to come out with a delicious result! So that you get overseas scholarship easily 2. Pray pray pray! ok |

alentyno: Unfortunately that seems to be the case........ That notwithstanding sha its pertinent to note that that figure is the actual basic salary. E.g a company like swipha offers fresh grads 60k/month for startment but there are other things like sign on bonus which will be paid to you if you can meet the target (e.g market drugs worth 1m naira within 6 months) set for you The summary of everything is that for you to make it as a pharmacist u must be extremely hardworking so you could meet your companies target because that's where the actual money lies.... If r not the lazy u could make up to 1m naira/yr before ur basic salary sef esp thru *smiles* emm ur personal add-ons e.g selling a drug of #200 for #250 ok o. Bt, must it b marketing? |

Idyllic: Pls take time to read what the OP wrote gently, though it is a long post and try to absorb what he is saying. He was contrasting the type of system they have in UK with the one they have in US. And he was trying to say that the Government should implement anyone they want out of the two, because the two system obviously favour the Doctors. Don't get it muddled up. The two system favours the Doctor because in the case where the CEO is a neutral person, the next position after the CEO is given to a Medical Doctor and in the case where the highest position is given to a medical personnel, that medical personnel is a Doctor. Even in W.H.O, the head is a medical Doctor. No where in the world is a paramedic place above a Doctor except in the US military where the health worker with the highest military rank is considered instead of considering their profession. Hope you now understand. I asked u for who occupies the highest rank in the US and Nigeria and u are asking me to read what the Op said. Answer my question pls. . . NOTE: I read b4 u asked me to without being bias. |

most pharmaceutical companies pay fresh graduates between N500,000 and N900,000 per annum, and it could increase to N2m or N3m after about eight- or nine-year job experience. u mean Pharmaceutical Industries pay 42-75k/month to fresh pharm grad? Too low but, we shall go there. |
