@niyi u are breathe of fresh air in this forum. I was about to respond on this Mrs Daniel. when u responded. he or she only appears when kiekie is on the burner which of course is many times. it is an insult on the intelligence of people on this forum not to spot the similarities. kudos to the ogas on this forum for keeping it alive...pls less spamming more contributions.

The bigger the panels the better cheesy.
You could get a bigger charge controller of 80A like Fangusun flexmax 80A or Midnite classic of 90A. You could also split the panels... 6 on the itracer and 2 on a 40A EPSOLAR (this I have cheesy)
Thanks for the help. Would look into flexmax 80a . Any idea on price range

This is dicey... But if d distance btw array n charge controller is not long and you can get 16mm cables,
then I recommend parallel
Are the panels on the large size. Because the epsolar states 1600watts for max power. And the 8 in number. Do you suggest I return them for smaller sized panels. Will appreciate need to make a decision.

What is the Voc of the panels? U can get this info from the name plate. What is the wattage of each panel and how many panels in total?
The panels 320watts Voc is 45.07v. They are 8 in number. Tnks

Guys a 24v 500ah system. What's the best panel configuration. If your are going to use12/24/48v epsolar mmpt charge controller 60a. The max power is 1600 watts for 24v system. Is it better parallel all panels or double the PV volts.

NiyiOmoIyunade:
Dear friends,

Please celebrate with me!!!

The good sunny days are coming back again grin I got home early today and checked out my system performance only to see 76Amps NET flowing into my batteries. I could not contain my joy and so I whipped out my camera and started taking pictures to show the house.

Glossary:

Pic 1 - Net amps flow into batteries after deducting house loads and inverter self consumption - 76Amps

Pic 2 - MorningStar CC1 connected to 3.6Kw of Flames Panels (300w x 12 Units) - 47.7Amps

Pic 3 - MorningStar CC2 connected to 2.97kw of Canadian Solar Panels (330w x 9 Units) - 45.9Amps

This for me is stellar performance for a 6.6Kw West-facing PV Array.

And more interesting even to be able to benchmark the performance of Tier 2 Flames 300w vs. Tier 1 Canadian Solar 330w using exactly the same 2units of MorningStar MPPT 60A connected to the same 48v 800Ah battery bank. I will leave the house to discuss this aspect of the price vs. performance (value for money) equation.

NB: The Flames are now about 2 years old while the Canadian Solar are just very recently installed.

Credits to MorningStar Corporation who make these wonderful CCs, Zeestone99 and crew for the installation and JUO who showed me without charge some undocumented performance tweaks that allowed me to squeeze max wattage out of this mid-sized PV array as well as Gennex Tech for supply of Canadian Solar Panels at a bargain price
I guess your 48v 800mps battery bank were parallelled .do you use battery Balancer or equalizer for all the banks together as a whole. Or you use several Balancer.

Why are we deceiving our self's on this thread. At the beginning of this wonderful thread there was a strict code of no sales or adverts to entice people. Along the line this was eroded.
So what you have is sellers pushing sometimes not all the time substandard products to endusers. Then the conflict begins. The two sides leash war on thread.
Can I point out this is a DIY thread. Where people come to share their personal experience on their solar journey.
I am grateful to some peps but more to George d always updating us on his project. Bros we miss u.
But what I recently notice some people have forgotten this is a DIY thread. Your real life solutions to problems you or others encounter with your system. Is what we all here to interact with.
This is the internet you are dealing with a faceless person .on your dealing an element of caution must be in place...let us not overlook what we are here for share, contribute, and learn.

The batteries had scratches and broken vents. I have actually blocked him on my whatsapp. He has no shame or scruples. Lesson learnt.
It's seems many people have been burnt by this sellers on this forum. What u suggested is true. I bought 3 time switch from one of this guy's on the forum. Only to discover one was faulty. After all the phone calls about the faulty time switch, the only response I got was no be manufacture the thing. Do you know how many things I have imported I don't have time for such. Well I don't blame the big time importer, I blame myself for contacting a faceless person on the forum then sending me to pick up the items from a shop that the occupants did not know him. No brick and mortar shop sellers are plenty on this forum.. Beware...

PoliticsInec Voters Registration A Big Joke In Alimosho by samnaija(op): 12:28pm On Jan 26, 2018
First my impression on this voters registration exercise is that it is worst on terms of enlightenment. You will virtually not know such is going on. No adequate media presence.

The one that shocks me is the entire behavior of inec and it's staff for registration of voters card in Alimosho. Lagos..
I took a week leave after finding out by chance the registration exercise is going on. After stumbling by chance on the location of the inec registration center in Ikotun I got there by 11am Monday. There was a crowd I was told by the staff they had finished for today by 11am and no more registration . Come back early tomorrow. Wow closing by 11am with more than 100 people around not registered.
Next day determine to register got there by met a crowd of 400 people by 7 am. At least I am early today waited for the staff to come. Only to announce we are registering only 50 people. What is going to happen to rest of us. That's what happened by 11am closed for the day.

Next day got there earlier by 6am met a crowd of 80 people. As usual waited for the staff and announced 60 today. By then the crowd was around 400.

Till Friday today I have not registered the shabby and unprofessional lack of commitment to the registration exercises is glaring. Alimosho is very big in lagos just the center in Ikotun has close to 500 people appearing everyday.
Today I tried another center in ayobo the same thing even. Only 30 people are registered a day. With a crowd of 150 people.

folakemigeh:
@ the Poster, i feel you don't love your wife enough.
While i was in school then, my BF said i normally sleep talk, and he would wake up at night and admire the way i curl my hair and talk jargons while i was asleep.
When one is in love, simple things like that do not bother you, instead you find a way around it if it's too disturbing... Remember she's your wife and not an "Olosho". I have pricked my Ex with my sharp nails before when he was deep asleep and started snoring like a pig and when he woke up we laughed about it and had a great midnight sexxx!!!!!

Gosh i missed school days cry
That is very harsh of u to say he doesn't Love his wife. From your post alone I can deduce you are currently not with your ex. Schools days was fun but not marriage. You had the time to cuddle and laugh at things no stress at all. We all went through that stage.
Marriage is a total game changer different from a relationship in school.
@Poster I feel your pain don't stress. This is a forum to share experiences and learn from it. Don't mind comments.. First those suggesting seeing a doctor in this Nigeria. If you have a sleeping disorder specialist no problem. If not face this squarely like men have been facing it for generations . Our better half's (wife's) undergo a lot changes during child birth. One of the changes is this snoring in most cases. So it is not new I am going through it my father went through it so also his father. You are beginning to have sleep deprivation which can affect your health and thinking overall.

Solution you learn to leave around it.

1. Try and sleep earlier than your wife. A few hours of wink before she comes to bed can make a difference.

2. Try different sleeping positions by gently nudging her to change positions.

3. Exercing regularly to shed weight. Good luck at this!!

4. Sleeping in different rooms. It may seem drastic but older couples do this to keep peace in the marriage. Go to bed with an issue on your mind then your wife starts snoring in your hear. My brother the kind of battle that will be unleashed no part 2.

Overall, things change adjust. When you do wake earlier than normal use the time wisely exercise or read or work.
NB. the 4th solution if you decide to migrate to another room to sleep be prepared your wife can all of a sudden show up with a pillow. My guy where you dey run go. Na till death do us part o o!!!.

When my water heater setup clocks one calendar year, I'll give the house my own review. It works fine for me, sunshine or no sunshine. And trust me, it is very battery friendly. The don't-try-this-at-home clause is the only reason I haven't published my report to the house. Besides, it's not to be attempted by beginners.
My brother you took the words out of my mouth. So far 2weeks after my upgrade no problem so far. Even set the timer on my fridge earlier now 9am. While water heating by 12 pm. Still studying the whole system. Like i said earlier a day of heating last 3days..

Nothing special.
The 4 AC's are inverter Ac's ( 1 LG 22,000 BTU , 1 LG 18000 BTU , 2 x diaking 18000 BTU) - On power save mode they consume less than 700 watt ( sometimes 300 watt) each - the AC's are power controlled by a cheap aliexpress regulator so if switched on accidentally in turbo mode ( 2.5 KW each) the power controller gives audible alarm and after 60 sec switches off the power to teh socket

The whole setup plus my microwave + 1.5 kW water heater is connected to 2x 5 KVA Ipower on 400 AH battery bank with 2.5 KW solar PV and 7.5 KVA DG ( 3 phase 50 amp 48 battery charger)

The Ipower are controlled by a software ICC which changes them to Solar mode between 9 am and 4 pm- If the SOC drops below 47 V DC the ipower come out of solar mode and change to Nepa

The DG comes on if the SOC drops below 70 % and switches off automatically. ( or 12 pm in the night even if they are not full) This is mainly useful in the night if there is the power failure .

The rest of the house is on seprate 5 KW inverter +lithium so I am not worried if the DG does not start and the batteries are fully depleted in the night as I can attend to them if required in the morning

This setup allows me to use the parlour Ac's in the daytime directly on the PV panels ( or bedroom at weekends smiley and on batteries or DG in the night

I have used 31 ltrs of Diesel since 1st Aug till date - including the maintenance run once every 2 weeks .
Na WA ooo. See power backing up power. If to say we dey abroad your system will be supplying the grid effort lessly and eventually pay off itself. As for the AC like u suggested to change to inverter brand. Apart from LG inverter AC can you drop some other names...

Update like I said still studying the system. Used to bathroom today to test the run time of the heater.
Thanks for all the inputs the results are.

Bathroom 1 . Hot water was consumed more from this heater (wife and kids). Time used to reheat completely 25 mins.

Bathroom 2. Hot water consumed less. Only me. Time to reheat took about 15 mins.
To my people for house I bow and I am humbled.

Like I said 3mins to 5 mins. I don't know how people use hot water to have their bath. But as of this morning the water in heater is still hot. I do not bathe with a full bucket of hot water I no wan bleach. So if I flip this switch on I expect the run time to be less.

Hmmn thats massive .. It must be well regulated under due monitoring as 1500w×4 is on the high side .. Guess you used a seperate battery bank on this project . Congrats !
I know you are joking. So u expect someone to on all 4 the same time. Are u for real... To people in the house that already have your water heating already installed and don't want throw away your heater or thrash your house with new plumbing this is the way.
Besides it takes less than 3 mins for the heater boil then switch off. Averagely that will last you for 2 days even if there is no sun the next day.

I have done best of both worlds I use a solar heater but it has additional 1.5 KW element which is hooked up to my 2.5 KWp solar array .
This array is exclusively for air conditioning and water heating so I can top up residual heat requirements using solar as and when needed. The heater and water volume is controlled by a separate controller Sr500 ( 90 USD from Aliexpress)

I have kept my system on the ground _ Although not pressurized system I use a 100-watt pump on the outlet to boost pressure and flow. Working great so far with a family of four and solar heater of 200 Lts.
Pranil can give more details on your airconditoning system.

Kudos to your set-up! How do you run your 1500w water heater 24hrs ? What's your battery bank capacity and solar capacity ? Remember you stated you had no space on your roof for the non pressurized solar water heater but if you can work on your piping, you can use a pressurized solar system..
Your pics states 1500w for just a 10L ariston/sweethome which can't serve a family of 4-6 .. Why we emphasized more on central water heater are ;

- centralized solar heating water system with reservoirs ranging from 50L-300L
-Ability to retain HOT water for 72hrs
-Central heating element of 1500w for rainy days or emergency
-Unique concept for those who have more than 1 bathroom etc...

Its an integral step/approach when building but can always be improvised like George D initiative .. I applaud your efforts but running an ariston 1500w or a thermostatic 1500w air-condition for 24hrs on your main battery bank will leave you in the DARK someday and also reduce your expected battery DOD and lifespan...
I never stated running the heater 24 hrs. I stated having hot water 24 hrs. I hooked up the 4.water heaters in my house. Besides on Nepa that same water heater last 2 days before getting cold
