Not the same. Haas doesn't really have much going for him, no name to protect. If Haas gets knocked out early in a tournament, no one would bat an eyelid. On the other hand, if Federer fails to make the semis (at least), hell will let loose as a result of his legendary status.

Exactly, we have placed so much expectation on him as if he's still the same 26 years old Fed. Fed has won almost everything a player can win and he's just playing for the love of the game a la Jimmy Connors.
Sports / Re: Tennis ATP/WTA: DAVIS CUP 2013 THREAD... by Santino1(m): 10:11pm On Jul 20, 2013
If you watch the game, you'd agree Federico was a man on a mission. It had more to do with Federico's brilliance than Fed's aging. He was only broken once in the entire game.

dammybravo: Age is really getting on Federer's game, as he lost to a player out of atp 100 Delbonis 7-6 7-6, delbonis will play aginst italian Fabio Fognini....#Hamburg

In bastad Serena ousted Klara Zakapalova 6-0 6-4, she is gonna play against johanna larsson....

Why should he? Haas at 35 is still kicking some a$$ (including world number one) when he's nowhere near Fed's brilliance.

celebchic: Hi everyone, stumbled upon this thread while trying to find out about getting into Switzerland. I am a Nigerian currently in my Final year in the University of Ghana, Legon. I'm currently studying Finance and expect to finish with a first class degree.
I've been doing research on internships in switzerland, Geneva and Zurich to be precise. I've done all the necessary research, have a list of companies id like to work in, have some info about the average pay for interns and living expenses and all.
what i really want to know is if it'd be possible for a soon to be fresh graduate like myself, to actually get an internship in one of these big finance and commodity trading companies? what do you reckon my chances are? what can i do to increase my chances? and if by some miracle i do get in, how easy is it to save money from your salary?
I'm trying to save enough money to send myself for an MBA program at the Stanford University

Thanks in advance guys smiley

Firstly, nothing is impossible. I actually know a few Nigerian graduate doing their internships in Switzerland eventhough all of them are from European universities. To be honest with you, your chances ain't so great (but that is my humble opinion) not because you are studying in Ghana but the Suisse immigration laws place so much limitations on non Schengen/EFTA/EU migrants that plan to work in Switzerland.

How to better your chances, well, there is no clear answer to that. You could start by applying to those said companies in Ghana ( if they are domiciled there) then seek a transfer to their Swiss branches.

Switzerland pays loads of money but the downside is that it is equally expensive to live in. It is totally up to you to find a balance in-between by prioritizing what are necessary from those that are luxurious.

Good luck

You can't say that when he completely avoided playing the French Open.

Cut the young man some slack, would you? He was injured, straight and simple...

Besides, my sentences were straight forward enough.

FACT: He has made the finals of the last 4 majors he's played in.
FACT: He has won two of the last 4 majors (including RG where he was missing).

God punish rivalry. There's already a rivalry in Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. There's no space for anyone else just yet. Especially not for a Briton. He should compete with his fellow London brought ups. Rubbish.

Not a great fan of Andy myself, but to besmirch his achievments (especially since Lendl took charge) is a disservice to the game.. He has made the last four major finals he's played and holds two of the last four majors.. Come on, it's no rocket science that Andy is the best performer in majors for the past one year.

maybe The head to head is your own way of putting Ferrer first
but I'm judging based on the matches I've seen Potro this Wimbledon
The same way I knew Federer was heading for an early round exit

David has had a few tough matchups but has lost easy straight points with his service. clearly, I'm still not convinced with him. That's my opinion. And Ferrer would never get past Murray or Djokovic. FACT!!!

Well, let's wait and see.
There is a reason I highlight his number three ranking meaning in the remaining pool of players, only Nole and Andy (1 and 2 respectively) are better than him.

^^^ I never said he's gonna win but I'd like to see him win and if you think he's not a real contender, then you are clearly mistaken (don't forget he is the world number 3 and has made 7 consecutive QF appearances in the last 7 slams which only Nole has achieved). You even made me laugh with your Delpo assertin, go check the H2H and you'll know Delpo stands no chance against Ferru as evident from last six meetings with Ferru winning all including two on grass.

FACT: At almost the same age as Fed, he has been way more consistent than Fed recently (I'm saying this as a Fed fan).

^^^ Li Na wetin? are you forgetting we still have a former wimbledon champ still competing (in Petra Kvitova)? I wouldn't rule her out just yet but I think we are gonna have a new grand slam winner this year.

As for the guys, I honestly wanna see David lift his maiden slam title, he has worked so hard for it and really deserve to quit tennis with atleast a major title.

Thorpe85: Berdych also got to FO semifinal(2010), Monfils is a bundle of energy, he can cover a court faster than most people on tour but he blows hot and cold. There is a reason he could only crack top 10 once(ranked 7 in 2011). That been said he was exceptional last nite.

By more successful run at Roland Garros, I meant he has made more deeper run than Berdych..aside 2010, Berdych has never progressed beyond the 4th round as compared to Monfil who was twice Q-Finalist. His 'blowing' hot and cold has more to do with injuries than his tennis though.
Sports / Re: Tennis ATP/WTA: DAVIS CUP 2013 THREAD... by Santino1(m): 12:56pm On May 28, 2013
Thorpe85: i really dnt understand what is wrong with Berdych , one moment he is causing upset beating Djokovic and Tme next he is losing to a wild card entry Monfils rank 81. Not trying to take anything away from Monfils.

Not to discount Berdych's achievement but the ranking usually don't tell the whole story... Gael Monfil is no push-over in tennis and as a matter of fact, he's had a more successful run at Roland Garros than Berdych (a la 2008 semi-finalist).

Sometimes people are used to the sms/chat format for communicating with people online because they are already so used to it. Besides this is not a corporate formal forum, any way I feel I can express myself and people understand passes because......it just passes..

I do understand but been used to it doesn't make it proper. If people can get used to it, why not get used to the standard way of writing also. I do use sms/chat format sometimes depending on my type of audience but not on serious stuffs where subtle things can be misinterpreted (e.g. tanx and tank).

Well, been on Nairaland, the first assumption most people make is that you are Nigerian and those 'Nigerian' english are something no Nigerian will ever miss.

Anyways, you have done an excellent job on this thread and minor 'breakdown' in communication should not deter you from doing what you think is right (which is helping people the little way you can).
