It is delicately poised for em - so i am loving it.

Lose to Chelsea at Anfield - No 4th spot, No UCL, probably no Europa league.
Beat Chelsea at Anfield - 4th spot(possibly), Europa League(Certainly).

Which ever way - the only bad result for United is if Chelsea win at Anfield.
The last time Chelsea did that was under Jose Mourinho in 2005. Can they do it again with so much at stake? Fingers crossed!!!

Arshavin was brought in only when it was obvious Rosicky wasn't going to be back anytime soon, Silvestre and Sol were never bought to be first teamers. They were basically cheap experienced players brought in as stop gaps, only that one of them served that purpose very well while the other didn't and its no surprise where the one who didn't came from. Djorou would have been ahead of both of them if not for his extended time out due to injury.
There are millions of youth players in Europe who Wenger woulda brought in as stop-gaps. Why did he opt for Campbell/Silvestre if we are to believe in this your theory of 'Youth Policy'. Arshavin was 28 when he was brought in, why didn't Wenger buy Ben Arfa or any 22 yr-old to fill that role?

In 1995, Manure and Blackburn were fighting for the title going into the last game of the season. . .

Blackburn had to beat Liverpool and Manure had to beat West Ham. . .

All the conspiracy theorists were saying that Liverpool would throw the game to Blackburn. . . but they beat Blackburn. . . unfortunately Manure couldnt beat West Ham. . .

Anyone who thinks Liverpool will throw the game to Chelsea is having a bubble
The stakes are higher now. . . .
In 95, the league title count was Liverpool 18-10 Man Utd. They didn't give a damn in 1995 if United could win title number 11.
This is 2010, the count is tied at 18-18. . . . . .I know em Scousers. . . .They are the scum of the earth - Jobless and retarded folks and i am 100% dead cert they will readily sell their grandparents to slavery than let Man Utd clinch the 19th title before them.

I never mentioned dates so there is nothing to dispute with you here, you only asked for marquee signings and I gave you (actually didn't see the 3 year limit) but even then we are in the 4th year and the last 3 years would be 06/07, 07/08, 08/09.
The last 3 years would be summer of 2007.

Now you are losing it Debo, even my manure friends here would gladly take any one of those two ahead of Gibson. Apart from the odd long ranger, there isn't much that guy offers. Pique only had to move cause of the sheer quality of Vidic and Rio ahead of him. I hope and pray for the days the likes of Gibson will get 20 league games run for manure cos that would herald the return of the PL to the emirates.
I can bet DELUDED GAYnners said the same thing about Fletcher few seasons ago. . . .but look at him now.
He is cut for the BIG GAMES and he's now one of United's most trusted midfielder. See how the table turns!!!!
Gibson is ascending. . . Next season is a BIG season for him.

Almost any player can turn it on any given day, its the consistency that is elusive. Samir Nasri also turned it on against Manure last season. Those players have been bit part players and in no way first teamers at manure until this season.
Nani and Anderson turned it on against BIG TEAMS in their debut season.
Arsenal n Liverpool felt their wrath and they were understudy to Scholes and Giggsy in their first season unlike Nasri who made the first team immediately.

The afore mentioned reasons, the shift towards a youth policy which you stubbornly refuse to see or admit.
There's no shift towards a useless youth policy. . . . .Stop shifting the posts.
Youth policy wouldn't have brought in Arshavin, Silvestre and Sol Campbell. . . . .unless you wanna claim here Silvestre is 19 and Campbell is 17.

I'm not going into how good or how bad the players bought have been, but there has definitely been a shift in Manure's spending,  they bought Hargo for close to 20m and Carrick for close to 19m.
Carrick was bought for 18 million. . . .The only signing United copped in 2006/7.
It was in 2007/8 United bought Hargreaves - stop distorting the facts to suit your selfish wet dreams.
Hargo and Carrick were not bought in the same transfer windown.

And please stop mentioning Gibson as someone who is getting better by the day, that Chap is the same age as Song and Fabregas but would you change him for any of those 2?
The difference between Gibson and Cesc/Song is the lack of opportunities. . . . . .
Before Pique left United, many peops thunk he was average until they started seeing him doing the shifts at Barcelona.
Give Gibson match appearances in a run of 20 league games and he will show his worth. . . . .

Nani and Anderson were bought for 15m each at 19 and 21 years old and have taken time to come good 2 years later, can Arsenal afford to have playing staff worth 30m warming the benches?
The same Nani/Anderson that copped MOTM performances against Arsenal in their debut seasons?
Are you high on cheap drugs?

Its the strength in depth these teams have built up in the past they are still depending on, cue Schole's last minute header at City or Gigg's impressive season. We are building our strength in depth within our youth and it will definitely pay us going forwards, we will definitely make the breakthrough very soon.
Who asked Wenger to sell good players like Gilberto, Pires and Ljunberg prematurely?

Give credit where it is due, I pointed it out on here that Chelsea and Manure cannot afford to continue to spend the way they have and the rule was one of the reasons I stated that anyway but even apart from the rule, Chelsea's moves in the transfer market at the beginning of this window had already pointed to the emerging trend in purchase of players. For example, since Manure has sold off CR7, they haven't breached the 20m ceiling or brought in any marquee player.
What difference does this make?
Whether you buy a player for £50 million or you bought 4 players for £50 million , the fact remains £50 million was spent.
Since the sale of Ronaldo. .United have bought Obertan(£3 million), Valencia(£16 million), Smalling(£10 million), Hernandez(£10 million) and Diouf(£4 million).

Does that look like a club that is suffering from cash?

Lennon has copped 12 assists. . . . I doubt Valencia would have copped much more despite playing the full season.
Stop talking like a ninny. . . . . .Appearances also count. . . .
Lennon has been crocked for huge parts of the season. His Actim Index will be in the negative integer by now.
It's not necessarily about assists/goals or fuckever. . . . .Match appearances also count a lot which is why Vida/Terry/Torres/Rio have not made it.

You dont need a defensive midfielder in what is a nominal representation of the best 11 players in EPL. . . . besides, how do you know that Fabregas is not my DM?. . . . according to Xavi, Fab4 would make a great defensive midfielder. . .  grin
And each time he's come against Darren Fletcher, he has been sodomised rigorously.
Fletcher deserves his place. . . . .He's come against many midfielders this season and he's made all of em look toothless.

In my book, Fabregas would be player of the year over Rooney, much less competing with Milner for Young Player of the year.
Rooney is streets ahead of Fabregas this season in his one-man mission of pushing United to the summit.
Wazza's performance since Christmas outstrips whatever Ronaldo even achieved here. . . .Rooney's head n shoulders above any player this season.

Its all subjective. . . . when Lamps went 8 games without a goal, the press overstated the case. . . what they also failed to mention is that Lamps was assisting in all those games, and had already copped 10 assists by Christmas. . .
Lampard has been useless this season until recently.

Sauron's TEAM OF THE SEASON

                   Friedel

Cuellar    Dunne    R. Johnson   Evra

Valencia  Fletcher  Milner    Malouda

Yeah right - if Chelski were 4th because of this 'free flowing' footie we'd see what they'd be saying. Without DD's goals, they'd be lower than City right now on points. Forget all this talk of 'flowing footie'.
Somebody else will score the goals.
Chelsea won all their games when DD was eating roasted corn in Africa during the Nations Cup.

Drogba came back and the team started misfiring - the thing is. . . .some players gloss over their lethargic performance by scoring with their arse or their groin and then the media go bananas. . .

Drogba and Giggs belong to this horrible sect. . . .99% of their game is a shower of shyte then they supply a goal assist or get the goal and everyone forgets about their useless performance before their goals.
I mean, how could Giggsy have won the MOTM against SPURS? Did he complete a pass successfully in 90 mins?

The exceptions are the massive scorelines that Chelski secured this season and nothing more. Even at AC Milan, which of Carlo's teams made such high scoring victories?  huh
Serie A is different to EPL and mind you. . . .Chelsea benefited from some dodgy officiating yesterday.
Kalou shoulda walked after dislocating Sorensen's elbow - that's DANGEROUS PLAY. He went in two-footed knowing Sorensen was closing in.

Villa's defence is one of the best in the league, so it is an OBVIOUS one off that they lost so catastrophically, ditto with Stoke, whose players have little to play for. To attempt to castigate DD based on those clear outliers is not statistically sound.
DD is a very good player - no one is disputing that but Can Chelsea afford to drop him and still blossom? I think they CAN!!!

I agree. . . .

The same people who voted this nonsense are the ones who tell me that Milner is more deserving of Young Player of the Year than Fabregas. . . .
Milner played more games than Fabregas so i understand why he was chosen. He has really improved and should go to South Africa.
How many times will CESC be nominated for this same award?

Lamps also copped 26 goals and 15 assists and cant make the team of the year?. . . crikey!
Lampard had a disappointing first half of the season.
The diamond formation didn't suit him at all and he was a passenger in most games. He contributed nowt until his gaffer changed his tactics.
Fletcher had a better season than Lampard - It's not about goals.

This should be my team of the year:

                               Friedel/Hart/Schwarzer

Ivanovic                Dunne               Vermaelen             Evra/Ashley

Lennon                Lampard            Fabregas                Malouda

                            Drogba              Rooney
Has Evra missed a game for Man Utd? I didn't think so.
Forget about Ashley Cole - pound for pound. . . .Evra is streets ahead of Ashley Cole - don't buy the English hype.

Lennon was superb but then Valencia played more games and contributed more than Lennon.
FFS, Darren Bent has scored 24 league goals and he isn't even in the team. By the same token, Bent should be in the team ahead of Drogba.

Scored 9 yesterday but lost against Utd and Arsenal without DD. . . .I guess the few games with high scores is what will win them the league and not the hard fought points that DD has been securing from the beginning of the season.
We are discussing Chelsea's free-flowing football with/without Drogba. . . . . It's not necessarily about the goals scored but the brand of football.
Chelsea flow better without DD. Anelka's movement worries defenders more than Drogba's flat-track bullying.

Myopia and tunnel vision are very severe ailments to suffer from - and Chelski fans seem to suffer both consistently - Ibime once said Chelski NEVER lost playing 4-3-3, before yesterday's game, Chelski NEVER won by large margins with DD playingundecided
There will be exceptions. . . . . .Messi is aerially poor but that does not mean he won't score the odd goals with his head.
Thierry Henry is also aerially useless but i am sure he has scored a few with his head at some point.
What you cannot then say is. . . . . . Henry is as good as Tim Cahill or Oliver Bierhoff aerially.

How many of those goals came from penalty kicks/dodgy freekicks?
Abeg, get some perspective. . . . .Malouda is the most consistent Chelsea player this season and the most improved player in the EPL.
I ain't a Chelsea fan but Malouda deserves a space in the starting XI more than Cesc.

Every player goes off the boil at some point, even Rooney has been poor since before the CL quarter finals. So for a player like Vermaelen coming into the league for the first time and doing as well as he's done, it is highly commendable.
