I used to tell people that admission is like a notice given by parents to children to leave their house. It signifies an additional mission for you to go out there and fend for yourself.

From the moment you secured that admission (additional mission), you've unknowingly been asked to leave the house.

When parents begin to pay school fees, send money for expenses, etc., they are investing in you to grow and yield returns in the future. Many students get carried away with school fashion and trends without grasping the bigger picture.

During NYSC, you start to experience the eviction notice in action gradually. Nobody asks how you are coping; they assume the government is supporting you. Some even request you to send money home, while others simply ignore your challenges.

Some students still fail to see the bigger picture and start planning for life after NYSC. However, everything becomes clearer right after NYSC.

For women, most families are not even interested in your certificate or job. You keep hearing questions like when will you bring a man home to meet us? You are now a grown woman; when will we celebrate your marriage? The pressure of marriage begins to weigh on you, and you feel compelled to move out to avoid going mad — that's when the eviction notice becomes active.

For men, upon your return home, they expect you to find a job and take on responsibilities. They expect returns on their investment — to be cared for, bills paid, siblings supported.

You return home to find that your peers have progressed significantly, and it feels like school set you back. If you can't secure a job immediately, you stay at home watching your younger siblings head to work every day and pay the bills. You sit at home, trying your best, but jobs are scarce.

You can't expect them to work and return home to do chores; you assist where you can by helping with household chores for your siblings who are working.

You feel insulted and disheartened, then find a way to move out, staying with a friend or finding your own path — that's when the eviction notice is activated on you.

School isn't designed to make you successful; it's a business after your money. Your task is to plan your life while theirs is to collect your fees.

Look at the number of graduates leaving each year compared to the jobs available — there's a significant gap. Yet, more and more students are admitted, entering the ever-expanding job market.

To avoid falling into this cycle, learn skills while in school, take relevant courses, excel in your field, and prepare for an independent life ahead.

Don't get caught up in what your affluent friends do. Many are from wealthy families with connections that can elevate them, whereas you, praying through school, shouldn't emulate everything they do. Draw the line and understand that after this journey, everyone will return to their roots to face life.

My words may not make sense now, but they will after your youth service.

What you are suffering from is called Microfilaria and it is not a well known sickness in Nigeria even though over 250 million people are infected with it yearly in Africa.

I have had my own fair share of it and I can tell you that it is frustrating and depressing.

Microfilaria is transmitted by mosquitoes or black flies. When an infected mosquito bites you, it deposits the filaria larvae into your skin which develops and moves into the bloodstream and feeds on it then reproduces millions of other larvae.

If microfilaria is left untreated it can cause severe skin damage, elephantiasis, river blindness, heart and kidney damage.

I was surprised when I discovered that mosquitoes transmit it because I only know of malaria not microfilaria.

My itching was so severe that I almost ran mad. Many doctors and hospitals In Nigeria look at you like a fool when you explain your symptoms to them

For solution

First goto a lab and tell them you want to perform test for microfilaria (please go at night because that is when the worm is active)

Then will take your blood samples and observe it under microscope to check for filaria movements.

If it reads positive goto a good pharmacist
Tell him to give you Mectiza (ivermectin), he will give you about 10 small tablets, take water and swallow all at once.

Once you take Mectiza please don't take it again. Ivermectin is to be taken once a year


After taking the Mectiza, purchase cenocide cup (full cup) take 3 morning, 3 afternoon 3 night

Buy antibiotics like Doxycycline and drink along.

Buy tydineal and rub on your body.

Be diligent with your drugs do not skip any.

It's a very simple test

So for some weeks I started experiencing severe itching on my body which was appearing on different spots most especially my legs, back, hands and stomach region.

The itching was crazy and at first I thought they were heat rashes given the fact that the weather was hot and I do sweat alot.

When the itching wasn't going, I visited some pharmacists and they gave me some drugs siting cream reaction and same heat rash I suspected. But after finishing the drugs, the itching got worsened and I had to visit same pharmacist and he gave me a cream called tydaneal which I was applying morning and night.

Tydineal helped in removing the rash and reduce the itching but I noticed that they surfaced the moment I stopped using it.

It occurred to me that it could be inside and not an outside remedy so I visited another pharmacist and explained my symptoms to him and he advised I go for test.

I went for a lab test and gave them my urine sample, the result came out to be negative without any bacteria in my system. I took the result back to the said pharmacist and he said I should perform a blood test which I did and the result showed positive for microfilaria.

It was my first time hearing of such and I went back to the pharmacist who gave me a drug called Mectiza then asked me to drink it all at once (tiny tablets about .

I drank all and he added antibiotics which I rejected because I always react to antibiotics


3days after taking the Mectiza, the itching reduced and I could be myself again but later on they started showing again which I ran back to him. This time he gave me more drugs and also antibiotics.

From my understanding, Microfilaria is caused by mosquitoes and black flies. If an infected mosquito bites you, it deposits the larvae into your blood stream which matures to become a heart warm.

It has no cure but drugs can reduce the Microfilaria load in the blood. If left on treated it can lead to elephantiasis, river blindness, heart and lung damage.

I thought malaria is the only thing mosquitoes transmit I never knew there is something called microfilaria and my question is, if it is spread by mosquitoes and black flies, it means 95% of Nigerians are positive to it because we have abundance of mosquitoes in this country and may be asymptomatic to microfilaria

I have taught kids before and I can tell you that the teacher was unfortunate.

I think I remember this man's case. I listened to a radio program where the human rights activists were talking about how this man impregnated his daughter and on their way to court to testify he boasted that they would meet their end and truly they met their end in an accident.

I had a friend that had issues with the wife. I the wife reported to me and I advised her against reporting her husband's flaws to her people if she is not ready to let go of the marriage.

I could remember in 2019 there was a dying man in front of my compound. That man had been lying on the floor distressed for hours but everyone was scared of attending to the distressed man because of police wahala.

I came back from work and saw the man, was told he had been like that for over 24hrs then I decided to call Lagos state emergency number 122.

It took several hours and tries before someone picked and when the guy picked, I explained things like, is the man mentally stable, does he have family members, is he looking like someone that will make it? I was stunned by those questions but did my best to respond to the guy.

The ambulance didn't show up not until after another 24hrs. We did our best to care for the man but just scared of police.

The man died on same spot and that was when the ambulance came to move his corpse
