Politics / Re: #EndPoliceBrutality should be the headline of this cause! Way Forward #EndSARS by SayITnw: 9:07pm On Oct 13, 2020
And SWAT was born.

The IGP and the federal government needs to wake up and hone their communication strategy and stakeholders engagement. Trust's been eroded way too far and a name change barely 24hrs after government's adoption of the #5for5 demand of the youths appears suspicious.

I have no problem with a name change but the objectives have to be clear, FG and IGP needs to do some thorough selling here. The young people, as I sense are now woke and will now allow matters to be simply glossed over; "awon youths yi fiece gan" (forgive an icon) they are also very intelligent and any attempt to simply play they with some unthought through technicality is dead on arrival.

Tell us what SWAT is about, what's their modus operandi, how will they be resourced? Is this another case of Esua's hand and Jacob's voice. I hope the politicians know that most of the youths especially 35 and below, have not seen a better Nigeria, they have over the years been exposed the an avalanche of societal malady, unexplainable deprivation leading to repressed anger and a yearning for better. They are more equipped to approach their issues heads on and in an era of virality, if the FG dont act with tact and commitment, we may be laying the foundations for a revolution that will reverberate in the history of our country, shaking NG to it's roots. I have a feeling fate is enabling this now....

What should government do now: Be sincere, rise up and do the right thing, win the hearts of the Nigerian youths again, and let them be proud of their father land.

The brutality did not start with the police and will not end with them, I hope the #EndSARs will metamorphosize into a bigger dimension where the citizens demand better and accountable government, where us as a people exhibits zero tolerance to mediocrity, misdirection, corruption and its ugly likes.

Like I always say, A society is a relection of what it accepts or rejects. The indefatigable youths of our land are saying no to bo-bo, propaganda, political jingoism and police brutality. We deserve better and better we will get.

Long Live the good people of Nigeria. Better days ahead. Aluta continua victoria ascerta.
Politics / #EndPoliceBrutality should be the headline of this cause! Way Forward #EndSARS by SayITnw: 12:25pm On Oct 11, 2020
Good morning Fellow Countrymen.

I just thought to add my voice and insight to the ongoing #EndSARs protests in many cities across the nation.

Indeed, bad eggs from the various Police tactical formations have pushed many to the wall and now, Nigerians, rightfully, will have this no more. This struggle which has been approached in diverse angles: phyiscally on the streets through peace rallies, via social media advocacy, print media editorials and articles etc. is gaining needed attention locally and internationally. It is further reinforcing the "power of the people" to be heard and influence their environment.

To the doubter and pessimist, who still think the ongoing protests are uncalled for, I will quote the Yoruba adage "eni kan lo mo", those who have had 1sthand encounter with these brutalities: who have see the unjust and barbaric exploitation & demeaning of the innocent by some uncultured and unprofessional security personnel will most definitely have a different view in support of ending this evil trend. While I have been graciously fortunate not to have had direct exposure to these bad eggs as such, I empathize as a decent human and for sure every clamour for better service and continuous improvement from the Nigeria Police is right and valid.

At the point, let me restate the my chosen narrative for this struggle is only in favour of genuine reforms to deliver better policing to the Nigeria people and a call for a more professional Police Force, an end to every form of brutality of the innocent; a structure that has a mechanism for identifying rouge officers and dishing out appropriate consequences. Non-compliance should never be encouraged or rewarded. A Police culture with zero tolerance to abuse of power; a service oriented Police.

How to we ensure we have the Police we desire as a nation? Our leaders must buy-in into the essense of the aggitation of the people, it is a genuine call for change. A society is only a reflection of what it accepts or rejects. The following should help get us back on track with the Police Force:

1. Redefining the core values, training and tactical methodologies and culture which must be in synergy with international best practices and ultimately the yearnings of the average Nigerian.
2. Aligning the team to these through learning and development strategies:
-New recruits: robust job profiling and character profiling- psychometric testing must be deployed. Not everyone will fit into the Police Structure. They must identify the behavioural potentials they seek and locate alignments from the recruitment process. This must be followed by thorough onboarding into the culture. Training and retraining. Barbaric practices and methods must be esponged. Set indicators, monitor performance and reward bravery.
Existing workforce- not too late to reassess and retrain. Re-onboard, sensitize, rehabilitate, redistribute competences and prune where necessary. Not all will fit, so we must be clear about this and act appropriately.
3. Adopt Technology for crime deterrence, traceability and training.
4. Showcase the Police in new lights: community efforts,
5. Reward, reward, reward. Implemente compensation as a strategy.

To stop the ongoing protest quickly before it degenerates into a monster, our government must honestly engage the populace along the above ideas with clear timelines. They can partner with professional organisations such as CIPM, NILD and NIM to contribute brilliantly to the process

As we become more reawaken as a people, let's be reminded that the impunity is not only with the Police Bad Eggs, there are many more across all works of life and they will continue to thrive untill we as a people decided to collectively stand against this. The list is endless:
- Thieving Politicians yet serially winning elections
- Demeaning employer who treats workers lower as than dogs..
- Exploitative Doctors and Nurse running foul of the ethics of their hallowed profession.
- Teachers/Lecturers not modeling the right characters rather becoming predators.
- Recruiters exploiting job seekers, poaching their ideas yet dumping them under the bus
- pls add to this list

The struggle continues....

Say no to mediocrity. Let your voice be heard.

Romance / Re: Is It Still Possible For Girls To Keep Their Virginity Till Their Wedding Night? by SayITnw: 7:21am On Oct 09, 2018
Yes, I married a Virgin! Candidly don't feel I deserved one, because I had my fair share of women (out of naivity and somewhat commission; even though I was clear about moral and religious standard) especially during my early twenties.

As virginity was not one of the criteria for my spousal choice, I recall asking her how a 25 year old at that time , Uni grad, good looking Lagos girl etc could have achieved that...summary even beyond Faith, was the conviction that she is only meant for one man - her husband! So it is possible to be a chaste!

Ultimately, I feel blessed to have married one. It's divine. However, it was a tough job getting the marriage consummated. Ab-initio, it was so though to break through the hymen, but we were good later and the kids are growing so fast already...

Education / Re: First Year Semester GPA Of 0.2, I Need A First Class. Am on Verge Of Giving Up. by SayITnw: 9:49pm On Jun 24, 2018
Amakababe:
My name is Amaka afuzor, and i am a student of Federal university of technology minna. Mechanical engineering. 100 level

Before you accuse me of being dull, I had a 204 in JAMB.
I always wanted a first class, but
I decided to check my result yesterday only to see F parallel and some good grades out of 10 courses.
Pls am 22 and I need to pass so I can get a good job after graduation.
I know I didn't give my books much attention this semester.

I am confused because I will be asked to withdraw if I get a cgpa less than 2.0 on a scale of 5 after second semester and don't meet the 10-8-8 requirement which I am very far from.

CAN I GRADUATE WITH A FIRST CLASS STILL?
Tell me the honest truth, I can handle it.

Pls who knows how many percentage of final cgpa the first year performance takes In futminna

Hi,

I think you can turn the table around if you can do some basic introspection and take actions as may be required. Firstly, mathematically it appears your target of 1st class may be impossible at 0.2 overall 100 level CGPA. I have good news for you though, you can finish with a fist class mindset and knowhow which are quite critical to you ultimately succeeding in life.

What went wrong? Over confidence, distraction etc. Now is the time to refocus and get back to the basic: listening , reading and understanding. Attend classes, work hard to get assignments done, be familiar with your curriculum, get the right textbooks, be friends to like minds who are already flying in their coursework etc.

Now, mechanical engineering is one of the best engineering course with a vast array of specialism and aplication across industries. Spend time to research about this and leverage your internship opportunities, holidays etc rmto acquire field experience. IT/holidays are a gold mine if you utilize them well when they come. I am a living testimony.

Mechanical engineering is not a workover, hardwork is key. God will bless your sincere hussle.

Hoping this helps you.
Religion / Re: Apostle Suleman Replies Daddy Freeze on Tithing Controversy by SayITnw: 7:59pm On Nov 10, 2017
This is quite instructive, please read and thank me later....

What Does the Bible Say About the Tithe or Tithing?Frequently Asked QuestionsDoes the Bible require me to give 10% of my income to my church?Should I tithe based on gross or net income?Am I obligated to give to my church even if I am having trouble paying my bills? What does the Bible say about church offerings? Will I receive blessings if I give "seed money" to a ministry?Old Testament"Tithe" means a tenth or 10 percent. The tithing system described in the Bible was designed specifically to meet the needs of the religious, economic and political system of ancient Israel. Each of the twelve tribes of Israel, except the tribe of Levi, initially received an allotment of land in the promised land of Canaan. The Levites were assistants to Israel's priests and were supported by a tithe offering from other eleven tribes. All families of those eleven tribes were to give a tenth of all produce, flocks, and cattle to the Levites. In turn, the Levites were to give a tenth of that to support the priests (Leviticus 27:30-33, Numbers 18:21-28). Tithes were also used to meet the needs of foreigners, orphans and widows. (Deuteronomy 26:12-13)

In addition, everyone was to be generous with those in need:

If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs. (NIV, Deuteronomy 15:7-cool

New TestamentThere are several mentions of tithing in the New Testament (Matthew 23:23, Luke 11:42, 18:12; Hebrews 7:5-9), but all refer to the Old Testament system. The New Testament does not give any specific rules about tithing, and most aspects of the Old Testament Law do not apply to Christians. (See What Does the Bible Say About the Old Testament Law?)

Jesus seems to support the tithe in Matthew 23:23-24, but these verses are primarily intended as a criticism of the Pharisees as hypocrites who obeyed the letter of the law but not the spirit of the law. They were so meticulous about the law that they tithed even the small amounts of spices they grew in household gardens, but they ignored the more important matters of justice, mercy and faith!

However, Jesus made it clear that we are obligated to be generous to those in need (Matthew 25:31-46).

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. (NIV, Matthew 5:42)

Giving is to be done cheerfully, rather than as an obligation (2 Corinthians 9:6-7), and not for the purpose of public recognition (Matthew 6:1-4). The right amount to give may be more or less than ten percent, depending on one's circumstances (Matthew 19:21, Luke 18:22, 21:1-4, Hebrews 13:16, 1 John 3:17). Generous giving is an acknowledgment that everything we have is a gift from God, and is to be used in His service (Luke 12:33, Acts 20:35, 1 Timothy 6:17-19, James 1:17, 1:27, 1 Peter 4:10).

Rather than give a certain amount as an obligation, we are urged to share generously of whatever talents, abilities and wealth God has entrusted to us:

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (NIV, Romans 12:6-cool

QuestionsDoes the Bible require me to give 10 percent of my income to my church? Should my offering be computed on gross or net income? The Bible does not require Christians to give any certain percentage. Modern day questions about what percentage we should give and whether it should be computed on gross income, net income or wealth are not answered in the Bible. Nor does the Bible tell us how much of our giving should go to a church and how much to help the needy. (See What Does the Bible Say About Generosity and Duty to the Poor?)

In Biblical times Christians typically held their meetings in private homes or public spaces (Acts 2:46, 12:12) and did not have significant operating expenses. However, modern churches do need money to pay for salaries, rent or mortgage payments, utilities, maintenance, supplies and other expenses. Churches also need volunteers for many ministries and tasks. The apostle Paul urged Christians to diligently use their God-given gifts to support the work of the Church (Romans 12:4-cool.

Am I obligated to give to my church even if I am having trouble paying my bills? No. We must pray and listen to our consciences and consider the needs of ourselves and our families (1 Timothy 5:cool when deciding how much to give. No one should feel pressured to give a certain amount of money or a certain percentage of income to a church or other ministry. Will I receive blessings if I give a donation or "seed money" to a church or ministry? No. There is no requirement in the Bible to give "seed money" to a church, preacher or ministry, and no promise that any wealth or other blessings of any kind will come as a result. Verses like Matthew 13:1-9 and 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 are sometimes cited to support requests for seed money or other donations, but the blessings promised here are spiritual blessings, not material blessings.

The Bible does urge us to be generous with our wealth and time. However, any claim that wealth, health, good fortune or other blessings will come as a result of a donation should be looked at with suspicion.

Marry the woman you can't live without; a woman with a life: career or vocation, Happy and reasonable. Don't overlook deal breaking signs while u court, people hardly change, they either reduce bad habits or get worse. Make sure the final decision of who to marry comes from you, not a friend, pastor, imam or your parents should make that life changing decision for u.

I would have normally pass by and say nothing but I think a few of us can use my experience!

As a fresh grad post NYSC, I have had to run unconventional errand for my MD besides the normal IT project management I was employed for. Some of the errands includes but not limited to the following: Purchase of Boli and Epa on broad street, Garden Eggs, seldom picking children from school, getting him a glass of water in the office among others...Some of this errands can come quite arrogantly and I would not be wrong to call his bluff but my sight was on the big picture. I loved my job and I was learning a lot. I was professionally engaged and getting better by each new day. My plan was to leverage on the skills and make myself economically better, this I achieved in grand style within 4 years. So I dammed the ego thing and did the masters bidding.....I learnt humility and also a way I would not treat others because of the way I sometimes feel whenever he calls.

Today, I am a champion at what I do. A lot of men at my disposal ready and willing to run errands for me. People love me because they think I treat them good, my ex - boss, now a professional colleague respects me and gives me lovely references any time I require it.

Think and be wise. Pride has destroyed a lot. I do not subscribe to foolishness but a little shit does no arm as long as such request do not challenge morality and ur religious beliefs.

Romance / I Was Heady; I Lost You. U Moved On Just Like Me, But Today I Wish I Can Reverse by SayITnw: 2:39pm On Oct 03, 2014
Sitting alone on this day in deep thoughts, like many other days in recent times...I am no longer a teenager, no longer twenty something, I am grown and matured, an achiever in my space....but I look back at my first true love whom I lost to my headiness many years back! I recall how much she would cry and sob to get my attention to forgive her and have her back....but I was stubborn and didnt cut her any slack. I made up my mind, I can't share my future with her...just for a flimsy reason which I could have managed better.

We planned together what tommorow will be, we prayed, we shared true pure moments straight from the heart! She is naive and I was also but never will accept....it was a relationship of model...pure before Man and God but sadly it was not meant to be.

I got married to another before her, she moved on after.....We are both blessed in our space but while my marriage is great, my heart intermitently betrays me! The memories of my first love is always in my heart, my Dove, tender and graceful... While it's all impossible now, I have prayed to God to give you the grace to forgive me and may your marriage continue to flourish. I trust him to give me peace too and also flourish my marriage forever....

Fellow esteemed Nairalanders, are there a few in my shoes, you may want to share and salute the "love you missed"....

There are many ways they will be earning money:
1. If the apps is networkcentric, then the network provider and the apps owner would have defined benefits within a contract. Which could mean while the apps is free, you will incur cost on data use for download and continuous usage of the application, the apps owner will be getting an agreed share of that, in some cases it could be a one of payment....Even if the apps is not free...a sharing formular would have been agreed.
2. No of positive hits could be another. Apps on playstore for example don't just get in there, play store team will have reached an agreement with the apps developer.
