Veteran Superfalcon Midfielder Rita Chikwelu Sign for Spanish Clubside FC Levante Las Planas

*_7 KEY OBSERVATIONS LEARNT FROM THE FALCONETS VICTORIES AGAINST FRANCE & SOUTH KOREA_* _nigerian context

1* Team build up from defence, midfield to attack was most times fluid _especially against France # keeping possession and fighting to retain possession is key to winning games

2* More should be done in practice to improve on set piece execution/organization especially with variation _ in tight games set pieces would be key in scoring and winning games

3 * The art of goal scoring is a continuous drill that needs consistent review and practice with 2 goals from 2 games there is still room for improvement( technical crew should adopt modern training routines )

4* The Falconets have kept a clean sheet in 2 games _ the synergy between the goalkeeper and the backline is top notch - more should be done in areas of

a, Set piece defending' organization

b , zonal and man to man marking _ in intelligent combinations

c, Keeping a tight offside line with communication links

5*Systematically , during attack- team build ups need to do more to attack in numbers _ it could be one man less but the balance should be 5 v 6 , 7 v 8 or 8v9...the more the numbers in the box the long balls ,crosses and duels would be won with high pressing

6* Counter attacks should be utilized with space available _ the team is blessed with pacy players so it could easily score goals from such game situations

7* Team Fighting spirit and bonding is exceptional _ no doubt the team is on course on winning the tournament

Ekaka1:
Sebastine is good, funny, quick and nimble on the ball and true she's got a big heart taking on on defenders for her size they did not give her the king of through pass..In the middle like the one that she scored against France...the midfielders were just spraying and pumping the ball forward today ..
Her little moments were quite a threat to the koreans

She was brought down on two occasions by the Korean, and during the first half the Koreans had two to three players on her but she still had her time...

Good to see the Ghanaian Fans there Supporting the Falconet.. It's a pity that their team is out already. Better Luck next time Ghana

TheSuperNerd:
This Esther Chinemerem Onyenezide lass is something.

She showed same class in the first game. Her class on the ball and workrate off the ball has always been obvious.

That she scored with her right foot is indeed testament to her ambipedality. Her two-footedness is very very strong and combined with her technical ability, it is little wonder she is quite unpredictable on the ball. A young midfield marvel.

Super Falcons material 100%.

You didn't notice how Flourish Sabastine takes on the Korean in a 1V1 situations.. She isn't afraid to face her opponents that's the kind of confidence we need from our attackers..

Defensively she was there too...

These girls know how to serve opponent late breakfast...
Congratulations Falconet

Hopefully we would get a fit again Deborah Abeodun, Chioma Olise who came in for her tried her best but Abeodun is way ahead..

Goalkeeper Oyono getting better and better.

Gotham FC names Hue Menzies interim head coach

Just two days after parting ways with Scott Parkinson, NJ/NY Gotham FC has announced that Hue Menzies will lead the team on an interim basis for the rest of the 2022 NWSL season.

Menzies is the second Black head coach, interim or otherwise, in NWSL history, both of whom were named to their posts on an interim basis in 2022. Seb Hines is in a similar position with the Orlando Pride. He was named the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Coach of the Year after helping Jamaica qualify for the 2019 World Cup, a first for the country.

“Hue is a soccer lifer and a true professional with a track record of success when it comes to building programs and developing players,” said Gotham FC GM Yael Averburch West in a team press release. “I’m confident Hue will help our players reach their potential this season while we continue our coaching search.”

“I want to thank Yael and ownership for giving me the opportunity to work with such gifted athletes,” added Menzies. “This is an incredibly committed team and there’s still time left in the season to turn things around. I’m excited to get to know these players and help aid their progress anyway I can.”

Menzies, who holds a USSF A License, has a wide range of experience outside of the NWSL. He has worked in college soccer as an assistant at the University of Texas, co-founded the Lonestar Soccer Association in Austin, and has for the last decade been the executive director for the Florida Kraze Krush youth program.

Two hours before the announcement, Averbuch West spoke to reporters and said that an interim head coach would be named before Gotham’s match on Sunday against OL Reign, with Menzies announced afterward.

Menzies takes over with Gotham on a miserable run, having lost six of their last seven games. They have the fewest goals scored in NWSL this season, and have lost by multiple goals six times in 12 regular season games.

While the chances of them overcoming that to return to the playoffs are slim—Gotham would need to make up a nine-point gap in 10 games—improved performances are well within reason for a team boasting USWNT regulars Midge Purce and Kristie Mewis, as well as a preseason Golden Boot favorite in Ifeoma Onumonu.

Since none of the two are listed anyway. Then it seems so. None can lay claim to her right now or after this WC.

If there are Offers on the way to Flourish Sabastine, I'm very much certain non between Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens have right to her, Maybe her guardian (Management) might get the little tip( Sign on fee) if any.

#U20WWC | Flourish Sabastine (joint top-scorer in the African qualifiers) extends fine form, scoring a late winner to lift the Falconets past France in World Cup opener. Fine start that.

FT: FRA 0-1 NGA [Sabastine 85']

NGA's next group matches
14/08 vs Korea Republic
17/08 vs Canada

I wished Flourish Sabastine was playing Club football like the others prior to the tournament, She has been out of Club football since qualifying games for the World Cup started...

She's currently listed Unattached, not even her Academy was listed there...

daveP:
That Abiodun girl too

This win is bigger than we seeing it o. Like these french girls are in psg, Marseille, lyon o.

Some of them start Champions League game this past season against Lyon...

Especially this Fazer she's a regular for PSG..

Clint02:
Idoko is the captain yeah?

Oluwatosin Blessing Demehin is the Captain....

hatakekakashi:
The keeper finds it hard to grip the ball well, always spilling it first time before holding.

The goalkeeper must be told to stop coming out unnecessarily, Her average height was almost used against her.. Hopefully as the tournament progresses we would continue to improve...

This girl's didn't play any international friendly going to this tournament.. They tried.

Deltamani:
Ramat Imuran… LB
Rosin Demehin… CB
Deborah Abeodun… B2B
Esther Onyenezide… AM
Flourishe Sabastine… LW

Joy Jerry, Mercy Idoko, Blessing Okpe, Chinyere Kalu can also be a major surprise to us..!

You can also take a look at Monle Omini, who I see as a low budget Alaba Jonathan

This 5 listed players above didn't disappoint at all, they all lived up to expectations and few others also stepped in... Kudos to them

Nigerian Sisters (Roosa and Tracy)

Bayelsa Queens football club have the best Goalkeepers set up in the NWPL...

•° Onyinyechi Okeke a member of the Superfalcons Homebased Squad and a former youth international...

•° Angie Bawu Cameroonian Women National Team first choice goalkeeper...

•° Sandra ChiiChii former U20 first choice goalkeeper who was in goal all through Nigeria exploit at the 2014 U20 Women's World Cup in Canada
Note; She's now Married but still playing.

•° Monle Omini currently the U20 first choice goalkeeper

Onyinyechi Okeke remains one of the best Goalie in the NWPL....

But still need to Step up more and more..

Can Blessing Demehin claim a spot in the Superfalcon starting 11 just as Osinachi Ohale did after the 2010 U20 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany..??

Osinachi Ohale beat the likes of Ulunma Jerome who was one of Superfalcons best Center Back pair then along side Christie George

lovewins:
Back to sender

Hahahahahaha.... Na really back to sender oo

AkinDS:
Happy for her, but I am not really feeling this move.
The Turkish league is really nothing to write home about, as the quality of play is average at best.
Was hoping she would move to Italy or Spain.

None the less, good luck to her.

Fenerbahce mean business right now, with the full time support of their male side.
It's a good move as Fenerbahce is arguably the best Club in the Turkish division right now.. The Club was formed last year, they finished top of the group A division of the league and 3rd over all after the final playoff...

Failing to qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League, have made them sign the best players from the likes of Besiktas FC, ALG Spors, Fatih including Patricia George in preparation for the new Season..
