I will advice you to ask anyone from Nigeria who left Nigeria with BSc Nursing for USA or great Britain and made it instantly . Your expectations are marveling for a young graduate. I am surprised that you don't have any passion except for mundane things like range rover and sport cars. is that all you are about? Those things that get outdated with time and usage? After that then what ? have you not seen illiterate mechanic driving such things in Nigeria? May God deliver you from mundane things. Go to the west or Europe and see how Nigerian are paying taxes forever and are been treated like second class citizens. I will rather be a king in my own country even if I am drinking gari everyday. My brother nurses a driving something better than Jeeps in this country. There is no faster way around these things . Either way you will have to work for it and of course cars are liabilities not asset.
You deserve a bottle of red wine for this comment. Range rover indeed. Let him come to UK and pick Range rover the way others are picking it. Dreamer tongue

The weather here is madt embarassed The most unpredictable weather ever. It can move from 18°c with serious sun and heat. And everyone out happy were t-shirts and shorts, then the next minute it drops to 0°c with very heavy snow. Everywhere suddenly turning white and freezing cold. Next minute, its 6°c and starts to rain with thunder storms.
So in one day we have summer, winter and spring all together. And its supposed to be summer now sad

This is the kind if news I love to read. In the 2016, local subsistence farming with cutlass and hoes should have been long outdated.

waah. small question,
Is eating heavy food for breakfast a cultural thing for west africans? would you still wake up to eat a heavy meal even though you ate dinner? When do you take tea or coffee?
One of the culture shocks I experienced here abroad is that oyinbo people here don't cook. Although i live alone, but i came on holidays at my man's house in the South so we share a fully furnished kitchen with them , but they just don't cook in it. There are 2 German ladies, a French lady and a German man. None has ever cooked any meal. The only equipment getting busy in the kitchen is the kettle for tea and coffee machine. They don't even use the microwave to warm anything.
But me and my man (Nigerians) we stun them by making heavy meals all the time. From fries, jollof rice to grills to Naija soups, and swallows, we don't joke with our tummy. When they come to into kitchen they keep asking what are you making? Looks nice. The German man once asked me why do you cook all the time? Its shocking to him. I told him in my country no man will marry you if you cant cook. But we have given him our Naija jollof rice, salad, chicken and egusi soup. He liked it. The other German lady was stretching her neck into my egusi soup pot and asking questions. We gave her some soup and swallow, she liked it too.
Back to your question, my big cup of tea goes with half a loaf of bread, fried eggs, bacon, sausages. That's to wake the stomach up. Heavy Swallow and soup comes in later in the afternoon. Life is short o. I can't drink half a cup of tea and be okay. My tummy would rumble grin

I used to live in Maiduguri town in the 90s. Maiduguri roads then were smooth. It was a very quiet and serene place. No traffic, no hurrying, everyone quietly going about their normal business. Food was cheap! I loved Maiduguri so much then. If not for the harsh sun, cricket season and long distance to the place it would have been just perfect.
Now when I read or watch news on Book haram's terror there, its heartbreaking cry cry.

MrsOJ your very correct o. That food no dey hold bele grin. My foreign flatmates here take only coffee for breakfast. No bread nothing more with the coffee and they are very satisfied. As for me Na correct swallow and soup for brekie or like today, I had spaghetti and grilled chicken for breakie with tea. My naija tummy is formulated to handle quantity.
The oyinbo people here they don't cook at all. Even the 3 ladies here. Na so so coffee from morning till night. lipsrsealed

She just had the surgery. She is still in pains, on medication and recuperating. She wouldn't look too different from what you have been seeing in the pictures shared. But, if you badly want to see her, go visit her in the hospital and wish her well. Cheers

I am not in the country to do that. I just think its good to tell the progress in pictures too.

@OP, don't mind the negativity. Keep your head up high. Do what you believe in. Don't let anyone deter you. Just make sure your preparations are done in a neat environment and clean.
As for me I won't buy anything with groundnut in it. Maybe you can mix it in varieties instead of all ingredients at once.
Those posting pictures of foreign packaged foods, give our brother a chance. Everyone got to start from somewhere.

Travel / Re: BONNY ISLAND - Where Can I Board A Ship Going There? by Schwartz: 7:56pm On Mar 16, 2016
richkids1:
I've learnt over the past few days in my researches that Bonny Island cannot be linked through the road like the Victoria Island or the Lagos island except through the air or via the water.

I know of the airport from the Port Harcourt International airport to Bonny Island but not of the ferry system.

So, my question is, where is the sea port or the ferry port where one can go for boarding?

Please your responses are highly needed.

Thanks

Once you are inside Port Harcourt, get to Bundu waterside. Its in a part of port Harcourt called 'Town'. Once you are in Town then you head to creek road market. Thats were you stop to take a boat to Bonny. The road where you get the boat is right on that creek road market. Walk a bit and then you see flying boats with passengers going to Bonny Island.
Politics / Re: Amaechi: Wike Hiding Wanted Militants, Cultists In Govt House-the Nation by Schwartz: 8:15am On Mar 16, 2016
One day we will wake up see that PDP and APC have ceased to exist just like SDP and NRC of the past have also seized to exist. One day we will wake up and news like Ameachi and Wike will no longer be in the news just like politicians of the past are no longer in the news just because new ones have taken over.
Why do people not learn from history? Enough of this senseless killings of human beings and statements from both parties that is causing chaos in Rivers state. Politics should not be a do or die affair. The victims of all this are the blind followers.

The dead bodies they are gonna be swapping would include those of his children, extended family and hopefully, himself.

What an incorrigible idiot.

This is all these politicians know- push innocent people off the cliff while their children remain very safe in a far flung country or heavily guarded by adequately armed security operatives.

Wike is indeed an uncouth, bloodthirsty power drunk maniac. I hope his pot boils over soon.
My dear I don't just understand why a scared human life must be killed for an electoral offence or because they are in opposition party. I just can't wrap my head round the fact that politicians will come out publicly to make such comment and people will support him wholeheartedly. Gory pictures of killed APC members comes to mind.
This is a man who cannot stay beyond 8 years in power. So why take a human life you cannot create? Why? cry
Next thing you see them in Church. Such hypocrisy

Politics / Re: I Emailed A U.S Senator, Dianne Feinstein & Here Was Her Epic Reply (see Photos) by Schwartz: 5:21am On Mar 16, 2016
Politics here is very different from the one we have in Nigeria. Here in Germany I have never seen a poster, billboard, or picture of any political office holder from the Chancellor to the governors, ministers etc.Nothing yo show their face or so called projects they have carried out. I have never seen any convoy or heard a siren before. Its just as if politicians don't exist in this country.
Its in Nigeria that we make politicians mini gods and it is for that reason that they kill and do all manner of horrible things to retain their seats. Now that is why Rivers state APC members are beheaded and people come to type on NL and support it openely. We truly deserve the kind of leaders we get.
