blank:Hello, seems you know about this Pension stuff. I also have a pension issue. While in Nigeria I worked for 10 years and I and the company I worked have been making consistent contributions to my pension fund account. I still receive emails showing my balance with them. Since I left what do I do to get my money back please? |
ottersberger:Tax is for Catholics and Protestants only. I am neither one of them. I am Pentecostal. My Church gains no tax money from the government. The pastor told us how difficult and time consuming it was before he was allowed to open this Church. Talking about the Catholic bishop I don't know if its true but here in Germany if you find anyone in a church on a Sunday then you should know that the person truly wants to serve God. The tradition on Sunday in Germany is to stay at home gardening, bike ridding or doing anything that pleases you. People hardly go to church here. The monies from this Tax is heavily used in Charities, refugees, hospitals, schools, retirement homes, medical care for the poor, palliative hospices and so much more. The Tax money is not for the church or Pastor to blow at will. The Protestant church I attended Lutheran, the Pastor rides a bicycle to church. Heck my Pastor rides the bus to church with us. |
OP I feel pain reading your post. I don't know what to say. Through this man you lost the chance to finish your OND at least. You lost the chance to work with the skill you learnt yet he won't man up and take care of you financially. I would advice you wash away shame and involve your family at this point. They won't reject. They can even talk sense to him. |
Silvofitz:Seems the woman wants to be funny. I won't trust such a person IMHO |
kodded:Right now I renew my visa every two years, I don't know what the future holds, I may be permanent or relocate, it depends ![]() |
dukeolumde:The southern part. Yes, Germany is beautiful and very neat. |
dam4wummy:I don't know how CAC prays o. We normally list our individual challenges and pray about it as a Church. Its normal prayer. |
Adortem:Nein, Ich spreche wenig Deutsch, aber ich lerne jetzt Deutsch |
jesuspikinjp:Yes, service mostly starts and ends in 1 hour and no one comes in late to church. |
400billionman:My close friend is married to a bodyguard of a popular pastor in Nigeria. They own state of the art cars, landed properties and numerous trips abroad for my friend. Her hubby moves with arms to protect this MOG. I have personally sighted a pistol on him which he covers with his suit. |
ichommy:Gut, danke ![]() |
tlops:Sorry I don't attend churches were abominations are permitted. This are Bible believing true churches concerned about missionary work and refugees. |
Lalasticlala please come and move my ministry to the permanent site ![]() |
No multiple offerings: the offering basket is usually close to the exit door. In the three churches in three different cities I attendend I have never heard a call for offering. At the end of the service as you exit you may choose to drop an offering, any amount of your choice. No special seat for anyone: No special seat or special recognition for any titled person or senior politician etc. Nobody cares if you got money or not. No one is treated differently by the pastor or any member. Persons called to take the mic few times are people who are involved in missionary works. To intimate the congregation on efforts so far. Some people here just live to do missionary work alone. Its amazing. Every one is friendly: Its kind of intimidating being the only black around. The members want to know your name, what you do, where you are from and what's happening with you. Everyone introduces themselves with a smile and a handshake. They make you feel at home, like a brother. I remember when we were told to wait for Mexican food because the Mexicans in the church were celebrating their anniversary. After taking food, I sat at a corner to eat. Lo and behold everyone was calling me to come seat with them and eat. It felt nice ![]() |

Service today

Hello All. Here is my experience at Church in Germany. So far I have attended 3 different churches in different cities here and I love it. This are churches by whites. Though there are one or two Naija churches around but personally I love this ones. I saw a lot of differences ![]() No loud speakers outside: The norm has been during service, churches put on loud speakers outside so the neighborhood of the church hears every thing going on inside the church. To me I feel its noise pollution and unfair to neighbours because some times you have in one street alone in Naija over 5 churches blaring away. Here its so quiet outside the church building that if you don't get into the church you don't even notice there are people inside the church holding service. Noone comes in gaily dressed: This people are so simple that they don't dress any different to church. If you don't have a nice Sunday wear no one cares. Picture attached was service today. Its summer now and people were wearing shorts to church! Also sleevless floral light dresses. There were no suits, no nice hats, no bogus jewelry, no nice shoes, no Italian bags, no one with nice hairdo. Its was just plain clothes, sneakers and sandals to church. You can't even differentiate between the rich and the poor. I remember in Naija when I used to take materials to my tailor to sew the latest dress so i can wear for church service. I remember all the outdoing and show off by members. The pastor has no hairs around him: The simplicity of the whites is amazing. Even into the work of the ministry they carry it along. The pastor comes into church carrying his bag by himself. Goes round each member to greet you with a smile and a handshake and asks how you're doing. He is just a humble caring friend you can chat with and he prays for you. He reminds you there is a table he has set for coffee, tea or water. There is just nothing special about him. He just carries out the service normally. He has no special name like G.O or daddy etc. I just cant explain the simplicity of the 3 white pastors I met. At the end of the service they stand at the door for a goodbye handshake. |
Bollinger:Papa Akpors Na hospital I dey o. Food is just crappy. It is properly cooked et al but I have never been a fan of German food. Thank God I have someone bringing in Naija food everyday. I for don kpai here ![]() |

Williamso:Bros look for African shop and pick your poundo and soup ingredients. Egusi 5€, dry fish 4€, crayfish 3€, star Maggi 2€, small Palm oil 3€, dry pepper 2€, Goat meat 5€ etc as your pocket reach you can buy more stuff. To get substitute for Ugu leaf, go to Aldi, Netto and co get You can buy Blatt spinat 1.50€ For poundo you can either buy a tuber of Yam for 7€ or you buy the powdered one. To pound you can boil your yam soft and use a blender. It comes out likes its mortar you used. If you can't cook, split the ingredients into 2 first. Make your money no waste o. You tube will guide you perfectly. I recommend this woman: http://www.allnigerianrecipes.com/soups/fried-egusi-soup.html Copy the link and follow the video. On a side note, I know some people who couldn't boil water in Naija but after introducing them to cooking here they have turned master chefs ![]() |
ireasontight:This is from Wikipedia: Abubakar worked in the Nigeria Customs Service for twenty years, rising to become the Deputy Director, as the second highest position in the Service was then known. He retired in April 1989 and took up full-time business and politics. He ran for the office of Governor in the Gongola State (now Adamawa and Taraba States) in 1991, and for the Presidency in 1993, placing third after MKO Abiola and Babagana Kingibe in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) primaries. So no he was no longer in customs when he co founded Intels. His foreign partner put in a lot of money to start the business. Those saying Atiku only invested in his base know nothing. His business investments are in different states and nations of the world. |
hobermener:I don't know where you get your news from and I don't care. I saw with my very eyes how proposals were made, signed, men and machinery were moved to sites (the company was working 24 hours a day even on Christmas and new year days) jobs were recieved, executed and we were paid. Our clients were the biggest multinational companies like Shell, Mobil and many more. The income Orleans Invest / Intel's was making huge earnings legitimately without anything hidden. Atiku was in PDP o, he did politics o, he stole o, I don't know, I don't care. This man is so wealthy that his co funder an Italian who was only getting income from the company owns his personal plane, pilot and media crew. |
hobermener:Only in Nigeria would a former vice president with absolutely no other legitimate known source of income, except being a vice-president own a University, and no one asks where he got the money from. You said as quoted above that Atiku has no legitimate known source of income and I came here to tell you that you are wrong!! Very wrong and naive. Attached is a picture I snapped in 2013,when we celebrated 25 years as a company. And I ask you was Atiku vice president as at 25 years ago? Google Orleans Invest the name Intel's reverted to and find out the enormously huge company and its worth. Atiku used to say he is the highest single largest employer of labour in the country. This man pays foreigners and Nigerians in millions monthly from his business even before politics. It was a company as young graduate you will be happy to recieve employment letter to work because you will marry wife, you will buy car and you must build house. No dey here come curse man wey give me and uncoutable families garri to chop for years without owing or delaying salaries I dey vex for you o Cramjones ![]() About travelling to US I got no idea.
|
cramjones:You are wrong. This man co owns and co founded Intels a company which I worked for in the past. As at 2013 we celebrated 25 years of operations. As a staff of Intels we are fully in charge of the NPA Port construction, maintenance, Logistics and many other operations in Nigeria, Mozambique, Angola and headquartered in Italy. Intel's grew so big it had to be constantly split into sister companies. As at when I left it grew to a multimillion dollar company. Now 25 years ago was Atiku vice president? I hate it when people just come online and argue blindly. This is a man who provided secure income for tens of thousands of workers both Nationals and expatriate staff. A man who never owes salaries for all the years I worked in one of companies. I don't care who you are but I won't allow someone who just sits on his computer to say this unfounded story about this man. |
An aunt in the USA had a worse experience. She sent money consistently to her trusted nephew. This guy collected the monies and indeed built the house. As soon as this woman came down to Nigeria to inspect and enjoy her finished building the guy stopped her from acquiring her own property. The case has been in court for years with her having to travel down to Nigeria multiple times a year because of continuous adjournments. In court the guy, her nephew o tendered receipts and documents showing only his name because he actually was the one who purchased everything in cash. It therefore made it difficult for her to prove she actually owns the house because everything he did from land purchase to building materials he did it in his name. |
Normal German breakfast. Bread, ham, cheese, tea and an apple. Need I say that the bread you see there is so strong your teeth must be very strong to dig in, tear it off before chewing. And that's the kind of bread they enjoy here. Its so strong its as if they cast it with cement sef ![]() Now compare this to moin moin and ogi for breakfast, good Lord! The best food on earth was made in Nigeria ![]()

Nice! One day I will take time to write about my experience with nursing care abroad. It cannot be compared in anyway to what we have in Nigeria. Attitude to work is everything. |
mandax:Genau! This is 2016 for goodness sakes! How can cows be wandering around cities looking to feed as if we are in still in the dark ages. I expect a law to be put in place for animals wandering about to stop. Afterall, the cows are sold to make profit therefore the owner should be responsible and provide for its feeding. Same way a poultry farmer would have to get feed for his poultry and keep them in one place. I am deeply saddened about the loss of lives by herdsmen and the leaders need to wake up and put a stop to it |
Op I dare say you are the so called 'cousin'. This is the situation you put yourself into when you set out to a foreign land without proper planning. Before I travelled abroad, I did a thorough research, I read and read. Through Nairaland I was able to get info from various threads about what to expect. Even though I was going to Germany I read about life in other countries. I knew I wasnt going to pick money on the streets of Europe. I didn't expect much from the country. First and most important step was coming here legally with a visa that will allow me to work. Since I have arrived here I have been contented. I knew it will take time and years to grow. I have a nice place to lay my head, security access to good standard healthcare. I am satisfied with life and working on moving forward gradually. When I read stories of people on Nairaland saying they want to go abroad to hammer and by range rover like one clown on another thread I just shake my head for them. Even the native born citizens of these countries we go to, many are not rich. They work and pay taxes too. Now op you got no permit to work and you want to make money in 5 months? Nearly impossible. In Europe no one will risk hiring you else they will be heavily fined by government. So you must have papers to work. You want a woman to marry within five months that's gonna be really hard to see. Don't know about USA but the Europeans can't be fooled into marriage for papers like in the past. They are wiser now. Marriages between black and white are not as common as before. I wish you luck. And I hope someone out there reading this will make informed decisions before leaving the country. |
