Probably u were referring to the period he was away on extended leave. He's my grand uncle by the way (if there's any such thing). All the best bro.

He can get a positive assessment depending on where he studied his geology. OAU is a four year geology degree and I got a positive assessment.

I think they have some selected universities that they treat their four year degree to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.

I think i should be able to get my employment letter reading the start of my NYSC. I have not had any former applications to Australia and won't categorically state any period as Nysc as i've been a full staff even as at then...only that i wasn't getting paid too well and also without tax and pension. I personally would prefer not to claim work experience points to avoid extra hassles if i can get up to 60 points without it as i've read on forums that processing are always faster when your CO isn't bothered about allocating work experience points as the applicants won't be required to submit additional document for proof.
To add to what has been said. To claim points for work experience. You will require payslip and reference letters along with a "3rd party document" for the period being claimed to support your claims. This could be tax, pension or any other document not provided by you or the company. This is my personal experience

@ Chuckdee13, working as a field engineer in the oil and gas industry doesn't make you a petroleum engineer. Field engineers have different specializations. You can have Electrical, Mechanical, even Civil Engineers working as Field Engineers. What matters is your job role, duties and how it relates to your course of study

Morning folks,

Just woke up to see that DIBP has reverted to the former method of holding 2 invitation rounds per month (every two weeks). The draws are no longer held on the Mondays but now on Fridays.

The numbers of 189 monthly invitations have also dropped from 2300 to 2000, while 489 has also declined to just 40.

Oga, how yonder? Have submitted all the required docs, my CO has requested to correct my inadvertent error(that is correct my score from 65 to 60). So am awaiting my good news! grin. What do you think of Perth....for a Pet. Engineer without industry exp?
Hi Ifexsco, i heartily look forward to hearing your good news. Your grant is 90% loading. I'm pleasantly suprised that your CO is reasonable and cooperative. I know of a guy on another forum whose PR application / invitation was cancelled cos the CO said he over claimed points for experience, 65 instead of 60 overall points. Though it was an error, he wasn't given the chance to respond or correct it. Thank God for you bro!

I actually submitted to Teleperformance on the 13th of August and sent a mail to them on the 27th of August for at least an acknowledgement mail to which they responded the following day. After waiting for another week of silence from them, I called Pretoria on the 3rd of Sept and I was told to exercise patience for anoda week.
I did not frontload Medicals because I could get an HAP ID before applying, so I was sent a mail last week Tuesday for my medicals, did my medicals on Wednesday with serious following up with the Hospital, got an acknowledgement from Dr. Fatayi on Thursday that my medical reports has been sent then the good news today. grin

Hi All,

Tony Abbots Leadership was Challenged and was Voted out today as the PM of Australia. Marculn Turnbull is the New Australian PM.

This guy is against Immigration and in support of Gay Marriage, the guy also suggested that Australia PR should be sold for about AuS50,000 which will generate billions for the Government while help get people to work in the Country at the same time. Then Tony Abbot insisted that Australian Citizenship is "not for sale".
This is a fact! Mr Turnbull tried unsuccessfully last year but I guess he was fortunate this time around. I hope his radical ideas do not become law anytime soon, at least before we all get our hearts' desires .

@scrollmeout, guys here are really wonderful, Google doesn't even come close. I hope to be able to contribute to the brain pool one day.
Frim the experiences if close friends, new passport = new passport no, but as long as you notify the relevant embassies then it is no big deal.

What I have is birth certificate, from the info I gathered, people born after 1992 can't get the NPC birth certificate but only an attestation so I intend going to the NPC for the Attestation.

How was your experience at the NPC in PH?
Did you get a birth certificate or attestation?
Where is the place in PH?
What are the requirements? I was told I'd need an affidavit or so
Cost?
Do u hv any contact there that can help in expediting things

thanks

I got the attestation for myself. I had a BC issued by a local govt and i wanted one from NPC. I lost the lady's contact no but it's pretty straightforward. The office is upstairs. Just ask them to direct u at the gate. Yes, you will need an affidavit. The high court is their neighbor so you can pay for it to be done for u if u wish. It's been more than a year and i can't really remember how much but I know It didn't cost more than 4000. You will also need a passport photo of yourself and at least one of your parents.

The process takes a day or two even three. They'll tell u when u can come back to fetch it

Good evening: Justwise, Kunlay11, Bosslady, Bellong, Manweysabi, NNBB2012, alaoeri, lawland, scrollmeout, other gurus in the house
I just searched for this thread because my wife and I are considering Australia PR as an alternative to the Canadian Express Entry. Thanks for your selfless services.
I would be glad to get your suggestions on the best route to take on our proposed application considering the information below:
I am 36 years old while my spouse is 32. We both have 8 and 6 years of experience in the financial services sector respectively. She is a Chartered Accountant; it would appear that the skilled occupation relevant to her is Accountant (General): 221111.
I have had a few years of experience as a Branch Manager in the banking industry. Though my role has been changed to a "Relationship Manager", I also figured that the most related skilled occupation class (CSOL) is Financial Institution Branch Manager: 149914
My overall IELTS score was 7.5 while that of my wife was 7. My qualifications include BSc, MBA while my wife has BSc and ACA. Our academic qualifications had earlier been assessed by ICAS to be equivalent to the Canadian 4 year Bachelor's degree program.
My wife was the principal applicant when we applied for the Canadian Express Entry because of some perceived advantages (age, occupation). We are a family of 4.
My questions are: 1. With the information that I supplied above, what are our chances under the Australian Migration programme?
2. Who has better chances of securing Australian PR so that he/she can apply on behalf of the family?
3. How much are we supposed to have as a "proof of fund"? Thank you.
My questions are: With the information that I supplied above, what are our chances under the Australian Migration programme?
The program is called Skillselect. You can use the links provided above to perform a point test. The 190 subclass requires 55 points while the 189- 60 points, 489 - 50 points

2. Who has better chances of securing Australian PR so that he/she can apply on behalf of the family?

A master's degree does not readily give you an edge in the process. Neither does it give you more points as you get 15 points for either a Masters or a Bsc, except if course u have a phd.
As for skills assessment, I don't know much for accountants but some folks here say ICAN /ACA makes it easier to get a favorable outcome. Not really sure!

You would have to carefully calculate/determine who has higher points. When is your wife turning 33? Age of 25-32 gives you 30 points while 33-39 gives u 25 points
If she still has some time and her English scores give her 10 points, I'd suggest she applies as the principal.
Also note that work experience only counts if it is post qualification. So including a higher degree obtained while working reduces years of relevant work experience

3. How much are we supposed to have as a "proof of fund"? Thank you.
If you intend to obtain the 189 or 190 visa, proof of funds are not required. For the 489, certain states recommend yiu have a certain amount but it is not a requirement for a visa. I'd recommend either 189 or 190 though.

My overall take - I strongly recommend you can get additional 5 points - partner points. You do this by both being accessed but both of your ANZSCO codes have to be on the same list (SOL or CSOL). You will need it cos accountants are being issued invitations on pro rata basis now owing to the high numbers of EOIs. You stand a better chance if you have 70 points, at least 65.

As per PTE, you are already talking to the right person @mrs dee cheesy. I used the links she provided to prepare for the exam.

Hi bellong and erictak2003,
thanks so much for ur answers, the whole passport and payment option thingy was looking so tangled but you guys cleaned it up with just a few posts!

@bellong, UQ is more than willing to accept card payments, they even said they will divide the transactions into smaller units should my card's daily limit be exceeded.

It was all a good problem in the end cos during the past few days I went over all my docs again and after carefully comparing it with what was on the border.gov.au website, I realised my birth certificate might not meet their standard-- its not Full/unabridged. I'll be visiting the ppl at the NPC office in PH to see how quickly I can get the right paper.

the only way I can repay the good ppl of this forum is to do a concise stepwise write up of my experience after everything so others can pick a thing or two

happy sunday
@ewagbamio. Nice one from you. It shows u really appreciate it gers when they give their time to help others. @Bellong and @erictack203, good job guys.
I have some questions that may help others with their application too

1. Is it really true that renewed passports carry the same passport numbers? Mine was renewed but has different numbers.

2. Ewagbamio, what exactly do you mean by an unabridged birth certificate. Aside from carrying both parents' names, are there any other requirements? By the way...those guys at PH NPC are very helpful

My fellow brothers and sisters in the house, pretoria was happy to reject me Visa today. Reason was that Employer was not verified and that no Letter of Future Employment, subclass-573,(SVP) paid AuS13,700 and has saved about AuS7,450 for complete 1yrs fees. Total: AuS21,000. I added my landed property docs, marriage certificates, house plan, children birth certs, employment histories, first aid certificates, IELTS and PTE blast them over.

So guys tell me, what else does pretoria needs? My MD of my Company was mad at this, they didn't call any1 or even me, he even wanted to use his lawyers to write them, I told him not to bother, every1 must not travel, some are meant to help others to succeed here and do stuffs. Australia should understand that we are not Hungry in Nigeria. I will keep up with my business and clap for people who gets their grants. Happy New Month. smiley

Your assessing authority is ACS,as for your ANZSCO Code, you are probably the only person who can answer that since you are most familiar with your duties and responsibilities. You need to determine which one matches your degree and job experience the most.
