ur tuition fee is strictly based on ur credit points...
but if u aim at P.R or further stay after studies, u need to undergo a course of at least 1.5years.
if u embark on ur 1year course, u will av to enroll in another program to continue ur stay or leave aussie after ur program..
the ball is in ur court..
jorgan:
Errrm, pls chill! According to my research, the length of your study doesn't directly affect your job opportunity or P.R. However studying a course of about 2 years only adds to you points.

Every international student after study in Australia is qualified for a post study visa of two years. Msc level = 2 years, Ph.d= 3 yrs
For more clarity, your length of study in Australia has a bearing on your PR application. You are both correct, the 'bolded' just seems a bit contradictory. You may be qualified for graduate visa after study but it's not automatic. In your ponts test, you get additional 5 points for Australian study and an additional 5 points in a regional area/low population grow the area. The caveat however, is that the period of study must be at least two academic years or 16 calendar months

Hello people,

Well done to everyone who have kept this thread alive and furnished us with relevant information. smiley

I wish to apply for the PR 189 route. I have written IELTS general twice now and didn't get my desired scores. In my first attempt I had R8.5 L7.5 W7.5 S7.5 and my second attempt R8 L7 W7 S6.5. It's quite painful because I need an 8 across all bands in order to ace 20 points under language ability cry.

I am 29 yrs old with a B-Eng in Mechanical Engineering and just 2 yrs work experience. I have decided to give PTE exam a try hoping I make 80 across all bands. Please I need help on all possible materials soft and hard copies I can lay my hands on so I can ace this exam once and for all. Where in PH is the best place I can sit for it and how much does it cost presently?

To my fellow Engineers who have gone about their assessment successfully with Engineers Australia, pls show a brother how to go about this the right way. I have downloaded the hand book and studied it to the best of my knowledge but I still find the whole process a bit challenging with my little work experience.

I need your guidance and professional advice. No tip is too small. Thanks in anticipation for your kind responses.
You can write PTE @ BCIE, William Jumbo House Aba Road (near Garrison ). You need to register online for it so you wouldn't have to pay more. Use Google to search for the PTE registration link wink

Guys,

Please what happens when you have a baby after visa grant? Do you notify the C/O immediately?
I need advise please!
Is the child born already or you're still expecting?
Are you a PR visa holder?
If the child is born in Australia to permanent residents, the child has a right to Australian citizenship. If the child is born outside Australia, the child needs to apply for a child visa sub class 101.

If you are a student visa holder, and you are onshore, the child assumes a dependent visa with the same duration as your current visa.

@Ayaboyo. Good to read from you. Though we sometimes read experiences like this on other forums, it can never be the same like reading from one of our own Naija folk. This kind of feedback is heartwarming for some of us who will be making the commute very soon.

@Johnstontade, congrats on your grant. Just got my baby's Hap ID this morning too after she was added FOC. This is to all PR hopefuls, all the best. Glad i could be of help. Its seems DIBP are finally waiting from their slumber. I have a feeling there will be rain of grants here soon.

^^^^^^^ Normally I wouldn't bother dignifying you with a reply but since I'm in a good mood today I'll make an exception in your case. Even the blind can see that you are a very pained individual, thanks to the anonymity that Nairaland provides your ilk, you would rather hide behind a barely charged techno phone and insult people you may never get to meet or even greet in your sad life. I say this because I can see its your habit to insult others any time your wife beats you (that is if you can afford to keep one).
See you can teach English, yet you insult your generation, do you even know what a generation is?

I wonder what people like you would teach their children? That if someone disagrees with you, you go ahead to insult them. I bet even if they followed your wicked advice, they won't be so cowardly.

Just because someone has a dissenting view, made without insulting you, you spew thrash allover. I don't need to prove anything to you, heck, I didn't even see you worthy to be quoted. Don't ever pick a fight with me, now go back to your sandbox and play, better yet, eat sand while you are at it, infant! Just because you just saw your WAEC result after several resits you see it as a basis for comparison?
Kkconsult, abeg no vex for derailing your thread

Thank you for your response to my message. According to Vetassess, my qualification is positively assessed and in line with my chosen occupation(Forester), but I was given a negative outcome because the duties performed in my current work are not related to that of Forestry. Their decision is weird!
If that's the case, you need to compare your duties and responsibilities as stated on your work reference letter/employment letter with the duties of your ANZSCO code on www.abs.gov.au . If they do not correlate, then that is most likely the reason for your negative outcome

^^^^^^^I totally spree with Elvis. @ Richardquest. You implying that it is okay for contractors to inflate the cost of projects by hiking the cost of materials. I believed the reason for these threads is to educate people so they can avoid being ripped off by their builders.
It is hi time we as Nigerians stop believing that we must cheat others to "chop". When i know how much the whole projdct actually costs, i will be motivated to take that bold step!

Hello House, just got a possitive outcome from Vetassess for my nominated occupation. Please i want to know if it's compulsary to provide statement of account when applying to SA nomination for PR. My funds are low now but will rise sometime early next yr. should i wait till then before i appy with the state? Kindly advice. thank you.
No you do not need to. As indicated on the SA website, you are only advised to have enough funds to cover your expenses. I hope you have enough funds for your application as you will be given 60 days to submit your application and pay upon invitation.

My Bro na so we see am. It is possible through the permanent resident route but na long thing; documentation, processes, cost and above all the waiting and incessant request for additional documents! They LOVE to take their time and are very thorough to the smallest minutest of things! The PR advocates here, NNBB et al don tire self! All man na students route with PR in view. There has been just two PR grants here in the past six months......mine will be the next IJN!
I'd like to differ with you on that. My PR route has been nothing but smooth all through. I probably don't have my grant yet cos I am the one intentionally delaying the process. The request for additional docs are not endless, you just have to process your docs at the right time. It took just 10 days from payment to get my CO. In fact, I could have been one of those to get the fastest grant on this thread, in just 3 weeks. I'll encourage anyone who meets the PR requirements to give it a shot. It's even sometimes faster than it her routes. Trust me, you'll never regret it. I'm sure there are other PR hopefulls who are just waiting cos of their personal circumstances too.
Shout out to bellong. Thanks for your help bro

Sorry to read about the ineptitude of your agent but please can u stop writing in ALL CAPS. It's against the forum rules and rather impolite.

I advise you take your destiny in your own hands and apply now. You have done 80% of the work already. Why leave it in the hands of someone who obviously has nothing to lose? All the best!

Thanks Shodur, Enyinna4. I'll go to MMIA when I arrive at MM2. I hope my NPI yellow card will suffice. The one sponsored by PTF.
Shodur:
Hi, please don't take opv at FW....took mine at the public health centre at MMIA toll gate for free. Just hold ur yellow card when u going to FW so that they can see that u took opv. When u take the opv at Public health, they will indicate it in ur yellow card along side ur yellow fever vaccine.

It's not compulsory to do it at Fatayi Williams. I did mine at FW, but I was told I could do it somewhere else and have the certificate sent to them.
Thanks. I'll try and get it done here before going to FW then. Do I need passport photos for medicals? Seems like a silly question since the info is on the FW website but the lady mentioned it on the phone. Maybe it was a slip.

Hello house, just a quick question for those of us who have done medicals. Is it compulsory to get your OPV done at Fatayi williams? I mean can't i opt to get it at the local govt health centre and request for the certificate FOC or at least for a token, instead of paying #2,500 per person wink. Just a family man trying to save costs cool

It's been a very tough and challenging journey but God saw us through. Lots of little mistakes here and there
I barely have time to sit still and carefully plot things the way I wanted but the great ladies and gents on this thread are from another planet, I thank you all specially.

FutureDon! expect me in Queensland. Your work on my SoP was not in vain you see? 2Posh, scratch that, 10000000Posh, you have been wonderful, Erictack203, Chi50, bellong, Ferdimako, bossladyMo, scrollmeout and so many others.

My Timeline
1. Medicals for me and wife: Mid October (I unwisely filled so many things on the wifey's form for HAP ID and she ended up doing so many tests! Not the best thing to do, please just say no to most of the questions -- I'm talking particularly to the health workers here. Yes, you don't plan to enter an hospital, you don't plan to deliver there, you don't plan to do anything, no? You just want to be on your own there grin)

2. 11th Nov Gathered all my Docs and Lodged at Teleperformance Abj after making an appointment online

3.. Application got to Pretoria on 13th Nov

4. Decision made on 27th Nov

5. I got the email on 30th Nov

I didn't include my statement of account. I'm self employed and I have a valid Tax Clearance Cert so it makes a lot of things easier.
your sop is very, very important.

Westerners, in my little interaction with them, are generally thorough and they don't just assume and over look stuff. So please take time out and repeatedly review your docs.

I did everything DIY via Australia thread on NL and the above is my story. IOM is next
Big Congrats Ewagbamio. Good to see you're moving. It was a long hard fight.

Dear Trigger,

SVP applications are assessed by DIBP according to the following risk factors and if four or more risk factors from this list are applicable to the applicant, SVP is rejected.

Risk Factors Assessment

        1. IELTS < 5.5
        2. High Risk Province
        3. Change of Discipline
        4. Gap in Study
        5. Previous Weak Academic History
        6. Bringing Spouse/ Dependants
        7. Previous Qualification is higher than the current applied course
        8. Financial Documents - from the Applicant or Parents account/ Study or Bank Loan/ Direct Relatives only.

So, study the factors and address your case before you submit your Visa application.
Good one from you Boss.

I am looking towards going through the PR route since I am somehow qualified instead of studies route. Please I need someone to help me answer these;

1. Based on previous assessments here, does Engineers Australia always give positive assessment to B.Eng - Elect/Elect from Nigeria universities?
No one can answer this question with certainty. What matters the most is what is contained in your transcript and the quality of your Competency Development Report amongst others. Please visit EA website, download the MSA booklet and read.

2. Is one require by DIBP to submit a statement of account when applying for PR?

DIBP will not ask you for SOA but you are advised to have enough funds for yourself and those who may be travelling with you
see my answers above

Yes, you can scan and upload coloured copies.
Please NNBB2012, Do you know anyone who uploaded coloured copies recently with no hassles? I just uploaded all my scanned documents and there is no way to delete them and I just saw this on the checklist

" All supporting documents must be scanned and uploaded with your application. All documents that you provide must be certified copies of original documents. Do not include original documents unless specifically requested to do so by the department. Documents not in English must be accompanied by accredited English translations"
.

Thanks to a senior member of this thread, I was able to pay my application fees.

I'm not quite clear about something though. I checked the 189 document checklist and it says I scan and upload "coloured copies" of my documents. However , on immi account it says "certified copies". undecided

572 SVP takes 3-4weeks. You will hear from them soon, did you frontload Medicals? Also, what about Employment contacts? Hope they are intact? DIBP verifies Employment. Also, print your SOP, your CV, your Family Details and DOB. They may call you for interview.

They mostly call employers to verify.

Your grant will land soon. Many blessings.
But guys @atrapon,. the website says 572 svp is no longer available for Nigerians, they will be assessed on AL3 even if packaged for Adv Diploma. @Atrapon, pls was this also the case for you? If yes, it then means she will need 3 months bank statement like my friend Ericktack203 told me. I'm trying to help my sis get this visa undecided confused
