ok,this is my final bullet am gonna shoot here. a year ago,back then when my faith in the Catholic church was as strong as ever,I could even defend the faith against protestants! then one night I had a dream in which I saw myself in confusion then a group of women dressed in your typical church choir girl clothes(white and blue) came and grabbed me away from the place the confusion was.then I was at ease with myself.they gathered round me and started laying hands praying for me....many prayers actually but the one prayer I heard very clearly was "I bless you with the gift of discernment" then the dream ended. so from that day I have been asking God to make that gift to discern come alive.with prayer and fasting.so then this year when i returned exhausted from school I just decided to read God's word,it was a long time I did that tho. so while reading I stummbled on matthew 15:9.which Jesus condemned putting teachings of men as God's own laws.And then immediately my mind just envisioned the catholic church...from that day I started losing faith in the church,I read more of the Bible and saw the diffs with what The Holy See or the Papacy teaches.then one day I decided to stop beating around the bush.I prayed to God that he should enlighten me on if I should leave the church or stay,I prayed with my room mate at that time.that very night God's voice visited me in a dream,that was really quickđ thanks God! cause I was expecting him to answer maybe like months or weeks from now or something,but he is God am I right? so the voice told me to go to the chapel of the good shephard(a bible teaching church on campus of which I had no idea it even existed)and I did,and right now I feel so much better right now,like...like I know this is what God wants for me. people might come now and find some fault in what I said or oppose me,but I dont care! all I know is that God gave me when I asked and he has saved me! In the Bible, there are several instances where Jesus was alone or sought solitude. These moments of solitude or being alone were often recorded in the Gospels, i just wonder how these many instances were recorded. Here are some examples of these instances in the Bible: 1. Mark 1:35: - "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." - This verse from the Gospel of Mark highlights Jesus seeking solitude in the early morning to pray. 2. Luke 5:16: - "And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed." - In this passage from the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is depicted as withdrawing to the wilderness to pray, emphasizing his need for solitude and communion with God. 3. Matthew 14:23: - "And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone." - This verse from the Gospel of Matthew illustrates Jesus sending the crowds away and retreating to a mountain to pray alone. 4. Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus was tempted alone Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, âIf you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.â Jesus answered, âIt is written: âMan shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.â[b]â Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. âIf you are the Son of God,â he said, âthrow yourself down. For it is written: ââHe will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.ââ Jesus answered him, âIt is also written: âDo not put the Lord your God to the test.â[d]â Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 âAll this I will give you,â he said, âif you will bow down and worship me.â Jesus said to him, âAway from me, Satan! For it is written: âWorship the Lord your God, and serve him only.ââ Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. These instances in the Gospels portray Jesus intentionally seeking solitude, often for prayer, reflection, rest, etc. Since there was no one with Jesus, how were these incidences vividly portrayed as if there was a recorder around with Jesus? ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Possible Postulations The Gospel writers, Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, recorded the moments when Jesus was alone through various means, even though no one else was physically present with Jesus during these private moments. Here's how they could have captured and conveyed these instances: 1. Through Jesus' Later Communication: - Jesus may have later shared these experiences with his disciples, and they could have recounted these moments based on his descriptions. The disciples, especially those who were close to Jesus, could have preserved these intimate details in their memories. The error in this is that Jesus couldn't have told them what happen with such details and clarity! And Jesus never met Luke and Mark! 2. Through Divine Inspiration: - The Gospel writers believed to have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write down the accounts of Jesus' life and teachings. It is possible that the Spirit guided them to include these private moments in their narratives, even if they were not physically present during those times. The error in this is that the holy spirit would never make mistakes! There have been many mistakes found in the gospels. So we can rule out any Holy Spirit divine inspiration. More so, Luke confessed in Luke 1:1 that Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, so all of them were just drawing up accounts based on hearsays, eyewitnesses and other documents handed over to them! 3. Through Disciples' Observations: - While the disciples may not have been present during every solitary moment of Jesus, they could have witnessed him seeking solitude on various occasions and understood the importance of these moments in his ministry. They might have highlighted these instances based on their observations of Jesus' habits. While this can be true to a large extent, it can't give a clear picture as to what Jesus was doing! For Example: Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, âMy Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?â Matthew 26:39Who was peeping when Jesus was alone? 4. Through Jesus' Actions and Teachings: - Jesus' actions and teachings often reflected his need for solitude and prayer. The Gospel writers could have inferred these private moments of Jesus based on his behavior, words, and the significance he placed on prayer and communion with God. This could be true. More Criticism  1. Absence of Direct Witness: - One counterargument is that without direct witnesses to Jesus' solitary moments, the Gospel writers may have relied on speculation, creative interpretation, or theological reflection to include these details in their narratives. This lack of firsthand observation raises questions about the accuracy and authenticity of the accounts. 2. Literary Devices: - Critics may argue that the Gospel writers used literary devices, symbolism, or narrative techniques to convey spiritual truths or theological themes rather than strict historical accuracy. The inclusion of alone moments could be seen as a literary device to emphasize Jesus' divine nature or spiritual significance. But which kind literary device be that? 3. Community Traditions: - Some scholars suggest that the Gospel writers were influenced by community traditions, oral stories, and theological beliefs of early Christian communities. The inclusion of Jesus' alone moments could have been shaped by the theological agendas or perspectives of these communities rather than direct historical accounts. I still don't get why you'll create alone moment to create a theology around your own belief! 4. Theological Interpretation: - Another counterargument is that the Gospel writers may have interpreted Jesus' actions and teachings through a theological lens, emphasizing his divinity, messianic mission, or role as the Son of God. The portrayal of Jesus' alone moments could reflect theological themes rather than strict historical accuracy. Theological themes again? 5. Narrative Harmonization: - Critics of the Gospel accounts may highlight the practice of narrative harmonization, where later writers or editors sought to harmonize and reconcile different Gospel narratives. The inclusion of Jesus' alone moments across multiple Gospels could be a result of this editorial process rather than individual eyewitness testimony. This is harmonization gone too far! BIBLICAL RELIGION AND EMPIRE-BUILDING Christianity for Africans, Facebook 24 May 2024 These are interesting times for Africans who hold the Bible as Truth to live and die by. Right now there is a revelation of Truth going on that will be either accepted or rejected, depending on what the Learner wants. We see that many Bible-believers want wealth and desire to be rich. The Pentecostals do not hide it and âprosperityâ is their regular prayer. Many of their Pastors openly display their wealth and their followers wish to be like them. The Evangelicals and Catholics may not be prosperity preachers so openly but they do hold up the rich among them in a special way making it clear that wealth counts. In essence, for many Africans the Bible is being used with the hope of gaining wealth and of personal Empire-building. Some people want just a very small Empire, others want a huge one that can even be in several countries. What does the Savior say? It depends who your Savior is: That is, what is His Name, His Identity, and His Instructions. The Bible says that many Messiahs would come, deceiving many (Matthew 24: 5, 24). So those who want to be safe will take heed to such a clear warning and make sure that the Messiah they have given themselves to is the correct one, described in the Bible itself! There are two Saviors here in Africa. One is the White Jesus that the Europeans brought with them when they came to enslave us, and also later when they came to colonize us. The other Savior is Yeshua Hamashiach (the Messiah) who has brown (burnished bronze) skin and woolly hair that is white (Revelation 1: 13-15 and in Daniel 10: 5,6). Unfortunately, many Africans think that where the Action is, is where the Truth is. This is a dangerous attitude to have because it is always exploited by the devil, the enemy of the Black Race, who will do all in his power to keep us away from the true Savior as He is described in the Bible. White Jesus is the one who supports Empire-building. Europeans went throughout the world seeking whose lands to seize, which people to enslave or colonize and by so doing, build Empires for themselves on the blood, suffering and miseries of others. There is a lot of information about this in the public domain and their theology provided them with a divine right to build Empires this way and they had the Papal Bulls from the Catholic Church known as the DOCTRINE OF DISCOVERY to calm their consciences as they killed, stole, and destroyed in order to acquire Empires (Please do some research on this as we can only summarize here). It is the White Jesus that in Africa the Catholic Church, Evangelicals, and Pentecostals uphold and that encourages peopleâs craving for wealth and personal Empires. The other Savior, the Brown Yeshua tells us that He is against the oppressor and thief and murderer. Brown Yeshua commands His followers to go throughout the earth to preach the Good News/Gospel, and simply shake the dust off your shoes if people reject the Gospel, then RETURN TO YOUR OWN HOME. It is Peace that Brown Yeshua brings with Him, not supremacy and racism and genocide. Those who follow this Savior in Truth know that they are simply pilgrims on this earth, and that their treasure is safe in Heaven. Therefore, Empire-building is the sin of covetousness â there is no other way of looking at it. In Luke 12: 13 - 15, Master Yeshua expressly warned His sheep to be ON GUARD against ALL KINDS of greed! Then someone from the crowd said to him, âTeacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.â But Yeshua said to him, âMan, who made Me a judge or arbitrator over you?â Then He said to them, âWatch out! Be on guard against all kinds of greed, because oneâs life does not consist in the abundance of the material goods he possesses.â There is also Luke 3: 10 - 14 where John (the Immerser) spoke to the crowd telling them the essence of the Kingdom of God which is that of modesty and simplicity of life, not wanting to own it all (so if you have two coats give one to the one who has none), and not using violence to grab from another. It is thus very clear that the unscriptural White Jesus whose name, appearance, and instructions are nowhere to be found in the Bible is an invented tool, thus an idol of Europeans to assist them to dominate the lands plus the minds of Africans. White Jesus represents Empire-building in both land grabbing and in personal wealth. Then, there is the true Savior, Brown Yeshua whose Name, appearance and instructions fill the New Testament. Africans are choosing which to follow. Will it continue to be the god of their colonizer that is a creation by Europeans to help them colonize the world and build Empires? Or, will it be the Brown Yeshua of the Bible Who sets mankind free from the oppressor and colonizer, and Who has nothing to do with supremacy and Empire-building? The Brown Yeshua is described in the Book of Revelation and there is a curse on anyone who distorts anything in this Book. It is Africaâs priests and pastors who promote and sustain White Jesus over Africa despite the Brown Yeshua being the One found in the Bible, and Yahuwah will give them what they deserve for carrying out this dastardly work. I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his share in the Tree of Life and the Holy City, which are written in this book. (Revelation 22: 18,19) But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. (Matthew 18: 6) For the African believer in the Bible who is also a Truth-seeker, knowing the true Name, true Identity, and true Instructions of the Savior will make him/her happy and strengthened to do the work of removing all lies from Africaâs Bible-based religions. Then Yeshua said to the Judeans who had trusted Him, âIf you abide in My word, then you are truly My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free!â (John 8: 31, 32) AMEN! Wait for the Lord, and he will come and save you! Be brave, stouthearted, and courageous. Yes, wait and he will help you._ A story was told about a group of ice workers in the Northern parts of America. While removing ice from a frozen lake and putting it in an icehouse, one of them realised he had left his watch inside the windowless structure. He looked for it in vain, as did his friends and colleagues. Once they gave up, a young boy child who had witnessed their departure entered the building. He soon reappeared holding the watch. âI simply sat down and kept quiet, and soon I could hear it ticking,â he said in response to a question about how he had discovered it. Often, believers, like the parable of the seed that fell among the thorns (Matt. 13:3-23), allow the voices of the cares of this world and the longing for money to drown out the voice of the Holy Spirit, which leads to foolishness and unfruitfulness. The importance of stillness is emphasised throughout the Bible. It makes sense because, as 1 Kings 19:12 reveals, God occasionally talks in whispers. It can be challenging to hear Him amid life's chaos. However, we might be able to hear His soft voice in our minds and hearts if we put an end to our hurry and spend some peaceful time with Him and the Bible. One outcome in the life of a believer who has trained themselves to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit is wisdom and fruitfulness. The reason why we need to be still and hear from the Holy Spirit is because that is how we are helped by God, by giving us wisdom which makes us fruitful. Jesus did the same when he prayed in the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:43). It was at the point of praying and listening that the angel strengthened Him for the task ahead. God will deliver us from the "wicked schemes" of wicked people, provide us with safety, and assist us in remaining faithful, according to Psalm 37:1â7. But with chaos all around us, how can we accomplish this? "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him," verse 7 advises. Like the little boy in the above story, sitting down and keeping quiet to hear the ticking watch, means learning to be quiet for a little while after prayer. Alternatively, we can read the Bible in silence and allow the words to seep into our hearts. In doing this, we hear His calm, steady wisdom speaking to us. *prayer* Dear God, please give me self-control and endurance to sit still for a time every day so that I can hear Your whisper in my spiritual ears, in Jesus' name, Amen. *Declaration* I declare in the name of Jesus that I wait patiently on the Lord and I hear the Holy Spirit, therefore I become brave, stout-hearted and courageous in life, Amen. |

The Catholic never says that whoever goes for the holy Mass while living in sin will go to Heaven. Even whichever Church you have joined now believes that you going to Church takes you closer to salvation. Does your own Church tell you that not going to Church is better than going to Church? It means that when a pope formally defines a matter of church teaching, referring to something of faith or morality, he is protected by the Holy Spirit from teaching error. So whatever he says in this context has no error in it. Itâs important to note what papal infallibility does not mean. It does not mean that popes are sinless; thatâs what âimmaculateâ means (as in âImmaculate Maryâ). It doesnât even mean that when he does teach infallibly, he does so in the clearest manner possible. The Catholics do not ask the saints to save them. They ask the saints to pray (intercede) for them. It is like you asking your friend or your pastor to pray for you. Saints are believed to be closer to God since they are believed to have lived a holy life. That's why the Catholics ask the saints for intercessions. The Bible does not condemns this. Point out any bible verse that condemns it. 5. You have not pointed out any falsehood in Catholic concerning Mary. Does the Bible tell you that Mary sinned? If yes, which part of the Bible? Mary calling Jesus Christ her saviour is a sign of respect and humility towards Jesus Christ, just as Jesus Christ allowing himself to be baptised by John. Does the baptism of Jesus Christ mean Jesus was a sinner and could not have entered Heaven without the baptism? Talking about the veneration of Mary, are you saying that the mother of Jesus Christ does not deserve to be respected? Answer this question. 6. "Chrislam" is not a word in any language and has no meaning. You invented it and have to deal with it alone. How has the Pope disobeyed God? Be precise. 7. Your assertion about Rome has no connection with the Catholic doctrines we know today. Even the Catholics admit that some of the earlier leaders of the Catholic Church committed some atrocities. So, why do you act as if the Catholics and their doctrines justify those atrocities commited in the Church in the past? Is there any of those atrocities that Catholicism supports? If yes, mention that atrocity and the doctrine that supports it. Your argument here is like saying that northern Christian is not a Christian because his or her parents were Muslims. Your logic here is like saying that the sin of your pastor nullifies the Christianity of every member of your Church. Also, have you not read about Saul accepting Christ after committing atrocities in the Bible? Did Christ reject him? So, if some of those who committed those atrocities in the past in the Catholic repented before dying, are you implying that they can't make Heaven? |

*THE DAILY DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* FRIDAY, 24TH MAY, 2024 *THEME:* RECONCILIATION *TEXT:* PHILIPPIANS 4: 1-3 (NKJV) 4:1. Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. 4:2. I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 4:3. And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names [are] in the Book of Life. *MESSAGE:* Apostle Paul refers to those associated with him in the cause of the gospel as fellow workers. This included both men and women. He does not claim any superiority over them but rather, sees them as companions (v.3). Though Paul used a general term to describe these people, yet he mentioned the names of a few among them including Euodia, Syntyche and Clement, for certain reason. The reason is because Paul wanted the other brethren to reconcile the two women, noting that though they played important roles with him in propagating the gospel, yet, they had a misunderstanding between themselves (v.2). He therefore committed them to the hands of brethren for reconciliation, despite that they were part of the brethren whose names were in the book of life (v.3). It is good we understand as Christians that the ministry of reconciliation is as important as the Great Commission. As we propagate the gospel, teaching people about heaven or the coming of the Lord, we should not neglect the aspect of settling disputes, putting a stop to strife, enmity, unhealthy rivalry and anything that can cause disunity among those we are trying to win for Christ. Pastor Chris THEME: THE SANCTIFYING POWER OF HIS WORD THEME SCRIPTURE: Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you (John 15:2-3). âThereâs no better way to purify Godâs people than sharing the Word with them. Just share the Word of God. A pastor, for instance, could be concerned that some people in the church might not be living right. What he needs to do is to keep speaking and teaching the Word of God, and the people will be cleansed. Notice that Jesus said, âYouâre clean through the Word that I have spoken unto you.â As they hear the Word, itâll purge their spirits and cleanse them. The Word has that sanctifying power. The Bible says, âHusbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the wordâ (Ephesians 5:25-26). The Word of God washes. Thatâs why, when people come to church and listen to the Word, they feel like theyâre in the best place ever. As they listened to the Word of God, it purified them. Thatâs what the Word of God does to your spirit. Thatâs why when the true Word of God is taught in a local assembly, people will always come to hear that message that purifies, empowers and inspires them. It will even propel them to become soul winners, for the Word makes them fishers of men as He did the disciples (Matthew 4:19). prayer Dear Father, thank you for the purifying power of your Word; it cleanses me, renews my mind, transforms my life, and reprogrammes my thoughts in the direction of your perfect will for my life. ...to make me late today was bad enough. I didnât need a grown-ass man going from âBridgetonâ last night to âmarketed and distributed in Alaba international marketâ on me this morning. âPreye, please. Iâve said Iâm so sorry. I was tired.â âYou think I wasnât tired myself? But I had to call you because that is what relationships are about. Care.â âOkay, Iâve heard. I wonât do it again, Daddy.â âBetter. When are you closing from work?â The conversation ended with me promising to meet him up at the Mimiâs Bar, Rumuobiokani, after work. I would be buying dinner. That was my punishment for messing up at the talking stage. My head of department wasnât on sit when I arrived at work, thank goodness. I exchanged pleasantries with the ladies and gentlemen at the counter, and asked Manuchi, one of our customer service personnel about her upcoming wedding, diplomatically declining her offer of me being one of her brideâs maids. âNot again, devil.â Besides, I was two years older than she was. While a lot of people would feel it didnât matter, me...I no dey do aso-ebi for a girl I was older than. In fact, I no dey do aso-ebi for anybody again. I settled on my desk, at the pension corner of the bank, and started my day by sending reports. When that was done, I moved to putting some calls across to both old and potential customers. Some were agreeable, others cursed the daylight out of me. As soon as I got that part of the dayâs job done, I moved on to the next one; processing pension forms in fund fusion and retrieving payment schedules. Now and then, a customer would walk to my desk to demand my help in banking issues; online banking, unconfirmed debit alerts, ATM card retrieval, as if they didnât see the âZenith Pensions Custodian Limitedâ boldly written on the flex banner by my desk. My sisteren my brethren, my job was under pension. Pension o. Not to count money or solve banking problems. Yet these people wonât leave me the hell alone to face my work. âExcuse me maââ Hah, Jesus. âMa, I need help withâ" I lifted my head and was about to snap, âGo to customer care,â when the realization hit me. The short man standing in front of me, looking like a rickety bicycle, was the last person I ever expected I would come across after many years of parting. Chidi Emos. Our NCCF pastor during my NYSC at Nonwa. The idiot that asked for my hand in a godly relationship and ended the thing even before it stood on its feet. First date, âWhere do you see yourself in the next five years.â Second date, âHow many motivational messages and books do you read in a month? Me I read at least four books in a week.â Third date, âList the causes of bradycardia.â Fourth date, the one that broke Carmel's back, âIf we eventually get married, youâll be giving me 60% of your salary to plan with.â I had asked him, âIf youâll be planning with my 60%, what then will you be doing with your own 60%?â âYou mustn't question a manâs decision, Ife. In a godly marriage, the man is the head and must not be questioned. Your duty as the wife is to submit. Go and read about the Proverb 31 woman,â he said. That was the day I decided I wasnât doing again ooooo. And Chidi Emos didnât take my rejection lightly. The NCCF papa in the Lord made sure he used his position to rain disgrace on me by deciding to conduct an impromptu deliverance section on a typical bible study program. I had just walked into the auditorium and took a seat at the back because I was late, only for this Shekelekebangoshe to announce from the altar that he had a revelation in broad daylight. âOne of our sisters had made herself a weapon fashioned against men. She allowed the devil into her life, and she is now breaking the hearts of men who love God.â Descending from the elevated platform, he had walked down to the back while I was busy gazing around, wondering who he was referring to. It was when I felt a heavy hand on my head that I knew I was the sister he was referring to. Chidi Emos had called me a devilâs tool and wanted to clothe me with shame because I refused the stupidity he tagged as a godly relationship. As he burst into tongues, asserting pressure on the hand he had on my head so I would lose my balance and fall, I thought of the disgrace, the shame. I remembered that girl that was made to admit that she was a serpent sent to disrupt the service last month, and how everybody had avoided her since then even though she later confessed that she said that because she wanted to be left alone. I quickly began to fight o. No be me this idiot go push for ground like this. While he screamed, âOut Satan, out!â I was beating the hell out of him, Tearing his face and his neck with my newly fixed nails. I must have really looked like a demon-possessed Jezebel, but I didnât care. Like that serpentine girl, I was avoided by brethren after that incident. Thanks to Chidi Emos. Now, After...how many years? He stood before me looking like a sorry case of Cholera? âIfe...Ifenkili from NYSC Nonwa?â he asked. Of course, Bunkum. It is I, Ife. âChidi Emos?â I replied with a forced smile. âMy God! What are you doing here?â âWorking, as you can see.â He was battling with the right thing to say, I noticed. He should start with an apology. But of course, I didnât need his apology. Seeing him this sickly was enough appeasement offering for me. He wanted to catch up on those years after the program, but ainât got no time for that. âWhat can we do for you?â I asked. âEhm...I... I meanââ âMoney transfer problem?â Typical. âYes, I made a transfer to someââ âThatâs not my Job. Go and meet Manuchi, the lady at customer care,â I directed and returned my eyes to my system. He stood there for a while, then, âItâs a long line there. Can you...you know...help me?â No. I wasnât going to lift a single finger to help Chidi Emos. Oh shut up conscience, he played me dirty so donât play that âforgive and forget,â card on me now. Yeah, I know...I know. Iâm a child of God. A daughter of Zion even though I was among the heavenly backbenchers, the crazy ones among the saints of God, the one stubborn sheep he came after while leaving the other 99 behind. âIfe, pleaseââ Would I be tagged a terrible person if I told this guy to go to hell? âThis is not my Job, Chidi. Butâleave your details with me and go. Iâll make sure Manuchi sorts it out before the end of the day.â âThank you,â he enthused, scrambling something on a paper and handing it to me. âI am so grateful, Ife. Can I, eh, have your numberâto call you sometime later?â Hei, Chineke God. I don give this one my hand, now him wan grab elbow. âItâs notââ âI donât mean anything o. Just...At least I can call to ask you if your friend has looked into my matter.â He had a point. I handed him my card instead and watched him exit the bank before I lowered my head to my work again. I was so lost in my work and didnât notice when my colleague pushed her chair backward and got up. It was when she mentioned she was going for lunch and asked if Iâd like her to get me something at the canteen that I lifted my head. âA plate of chicken salad and a medium-sized cup of yogurt,â I said with appreciation. I checked my phone when she left. Ale sent me some hair samples, she wanted to know if Iâd be interested before she sold them all off. I missed a call from my brother and an SMS from my AYF prayer group leader. The group would be visiting the motherless babyâs home and needed support. I was about to go back to my work when I saw someone that made my heart skip a beat. Forget about a skipped beat, my heart skipped a whole song. Ignoring the stupid organ, I trained my eyes on the figure. Bro Oghene. He was standing in front of the customer care desk. With both arms balancing on Manuchiâs table, he was leaning close to the soon-to-be-married lady and smiling up her face so innocently but intimately that one would think he was the supposed groom-to-be. He was in a gray coverall, with patches of grease here and there. His hair was unkempt. His feet that were slipped in a pair of old slippers were dirty. But unlike other times, before last night, I noticed that his disarray work look fitted together like a stained glass window. A hundred little pieces of different color and mood that, when combined, created a complete picture. I watched him interact with Manuchi for a while, wondering why the other customers in the line werenât making fusses about his maneuvering because he had jumped the line. Then I saw him look back and mutter something that made them laugh. Bastard. He was using his innocence and softness as a charm on them. And it seemed to be working. It had always worked on a lot of people anyway. He accepted a piece of paper and a pen from Manuchi, scrambled something down, and handed the items back to the lady who had her eyes on his face all the while. He was seducing Munachi without even trying, and the fool-headed girl had fallen flat for his smiles. Not just her, but almost everyone there. They were all grinning and nodding at whatever he was saying. Without thinking, I got up, straightened my dress, left my corner, and walked towards customer care. I didnât realize how awkward my decision was until I got to Munachiâs desk, bent over the girlâs system as if I wanted to check something while I had no idea what I was looking for, straightened up and my eyes landed on his. Right there, at that moment, I couldn´t remember what a stressful and bad day felt like. Instantly, he caught me in his sweet snare.
