Then visit aitsl website to download the requirement for the occupation you want to choose.
The occupation you choose should be determined by the age of students you taught during your Teaching practice.
So if your TP was secondary school, you are to choose secondary school. If you are now teaching in any other section apart from secondary school, you will not be able to claim employment points from that.

You don't need a PGDE, you will only need to attach your NCE together with your degree. The transcripts will capture your NCE as mode of admission, you need your NCE transcript as well.

Hello gurus in the house!

I will appreciate an explanation and further clarification as regards the skills assessment of teachers by aitsl, because I am stuck on my findings/research and do not know how else to proceed.

Firstly, I have two certificates in Business Education as a Secondary school teacher; NCE and B.Sc(Ed), with the latter from UNN, however, I have what I fear might be a loophole, as my B.Sc(Ed) which is a double honors certificate was undergone for a period of 3 years, which stemmed as a result of having a prior NCE certification, which was also studied for a period of 3 years.

Now, my questions:
•Will I be able to assess my qualifications for a positive response with aitsl, using my B.Sc(Ed) which was studied for 3 years, cos my transcript actually shows my years of study as 3 years as against 4? Coupled with the factors of AQF and the Tier 1 and 2 grading system, do I tend to stand a chance?

•Or, will I have to upload both the transcripts of my NCE and B.Sc(Ed), to make it up for the missing one year?

•Or, should I simply undergo a PGDE programme, to augment my B.Sc(Ed), and cover up for the loophole?

I haven't written the English proficiency test (ielts), however I am willing to give it a shot and I am optimistic that I will scale through.

I also have over 3 years experience as a teacher, post-graduation.

If there's any one who's had an experience of this or know someone with a first-hand information as regards this matter, I will really appreciate your help and advice.

You won't be able to assess with aitsl. NCE does not meet the criteria neither does a 4 year Education degree from UNN meet the criteria. Either way, you are not eligible.
PGDE won't help also.

Your best option, explore student visa - Masters of teaching or try another country. If you are married and your partner has a skilled occupation/experience, then they might be the primary applicant

Good morning everyone, good morning @tunlex01

Please I need advice on this.
I'm 31 and my wife is 24, we're both BSc holders. (Graduated with Second Class upper)

We want to apply for Australia PR and she'll be the main applicant. She's preparing for ielts at the moment. Her BSc is Biochemistry and she has more than two years working experience in Customer Service role, lead generation and account management. I attached her work experience

Please, I'll need an advice on the which skilled job option will help us or put us in a better position of getting a PR?

From recent reports, it won’t fly if your first degree is not from a tier 1 university. We even went back and forth over email to convince the assessor to use the MEd and the teaching practice but they declined

intial teacher education is pgde or pgce , usually a full year course including a teaching practice.
4 year B .ed will not meet the qualification requirements. Equivalent to Australia educational frame AQF level 7. But I believe with a pgde and a B .ed, it will meet the requirements.

I have observed with recent happenings from people who has assess with aitsl that for a B.ed to be assess as suitable it must be from a tier 1 university.( It will be assess suitable to Australia level AQF 7 without needing a pgde)if you assess with 4 year degree in education,it will be assess as not suitable because of not fulfilling the initial teacher education requirements not withstanding if you have a masters in education or not.
For people with B.SC in other discipline but a pgde in education and the 45 days teaching practice ( it will be assess as suitable equivalent to an associate degree/diploma AQF level 6) this information is research from Facebook groups and experience from people who have done the assessment recently .this information is available on their site too if you read between the lines.( see applicant check list on aitsl Portal)People at a disadvantage are those who read B.ed in a tier 2 university

I just checked thru aitsl and noticed the pay is 1050 and when I checked thru the process we still need to upload employment evidence.

Good day my elders in the thread and I commend your contributions in this DIY thread.
I have a few questions I will like @bellong, @tulex and others with information to assist me in deciding what to do.
1. I have a B.Sc in Botany from the University of Benin and graduated in 2008 but I have never worked as a botanist.
2. I have been working as School Administrator with a cumulative of 10 years experience in international schools both in Port Harcourt and Abuja.
3. Currently I'm a head of non academic staff in an international school and part of my responsibilities is direct supervision of the gardeners and the school landscape maintenance.
4. Botany is on the Skill Occupation list but a Level 1 while my B.Sc is from a tier 2 University which will not be approved.
5. I also have a PGDE in Educational Management without Teaching Practice hence cannot assess as a Secondary School Teacher.
6. I am thinking of Assessing as a Landscape gardener which is a level 3 occupation and only requires a minimum of Level 3 certificate.
7. If I tweak my JD to that of a Landscape gardener and with my qualification as a Botanist, will I have a positive assessment with my higher qualification of B.Sc as against a Certificate 3 on TRA website.
8. I have a Pay slip, Pension, Tax certificate and Bank statement for the 3 years that I have a direct supervisory role to the gardeners / landscaping among other responsibilities.
I can discuss with our HR dept. to write a reference letter for me with the responsibility of a gardener for the purpose of migrating only.
Apologies for the long questions
I'm 38 years, yet to write ielts but will do after the assessment,
My wife is 33 years with a B.Ed but due to the long process of Assessing as a teacher which requires licensing with a state teacher registration board before aitsl, I decide to be the main applicant because its faster and less expensive via TRA.

You can assess as a landscape gardener. You can have a higher qualification but not a lower qualification. So Botany should fly.

Teacher process is shorter than TRA. She doesn’t need to be registered with a state for skilled migration. And nomination is faster with aitsl as long as she meets the English language requirement

Good day seniors.....

For University Lecturers, VETASSES is the body responsible for assessing the skillset.

My question is:

Will employment letter, Reference letter from the University Registrar and bank statement of 5 years be enough for proof of employment?

For my spouse,

The Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (aitsl) is responsible for assessing her skillset.

My question is:

She's a secondary school teacher with a Private school. Most of her salaries were paid to her by cash, not into her bank account. What can she use as proof of employment in her case please?

Again, if she didn't assess her skillset, and I decide to use only her level of English language test (ielts only), will she be allowed to get a teaching job in Australia without her skillset not assessed by the required body (aitsl).

Thanks.
1. That should be enough for Vetassess assessment but won’t be for DHA. You need to have tax and/or pension statements.

2. Cash payment does not stop payment of PAYE tax or pension. She can get her school to pay her taxes.

3. She can do the assessment onshore after landing

if you are not claiming work experience points you will not have any issues, aitsl requires teaching practice and not work experience as with other bodies, your work experience before you pgde does not count. As to state that offers nomination Victoria is one of them... Checked and there seems to be a rise for need for teachers in Victoria too.

If Victoria has no experience requirement for the occupation, you will be fine. aitsl may likely award you the experience anyway. Key is sorting the ielts requirement.

Yes, teachers are in demand across the states especially science and language teachers.
