dmcdad:Well said bro! |
Johnpaul88:In as much as I wanted more goals, I think the guys intentionally relaxed. Athletico came to the match with the aim of breaking legs. They were so bent on their mission and never gave up even when they were less in numbers. We could not afford to take the match to them as they would definitely have succeeded in their mission. Hence, the need to drop the tempo and allow them have the ball. If they had equalised, I can bet the boys still had enough steam to overturn the scoreline. They just needed to thread with caution to avoid any injury to our players. We destroyed Athletic by 6 goals after having a red card, but we couldn't do that to A. Madrid because of their negative intention. |
airmark:Okay sir! |
@ibime I must give it to you on your description of Xavi, I admire your incisive submission on the subject. Your listed qualities and attributes are part of what made me call him my greatest CM of all time. I am aware of the fact that the word midfield is made up of AM, CM and DM, hence the word 'greatest CM' because there would definitely be varying opinions when it comes to naming the greatest midfielder. While there are many that can generate lots of debate on who is, I still don't think there's anyone that could match Xavi when it comes to CM. The debate on Iniesta vs Xavi, it's safe to say these two are legends of the club with so many things in common albeit in a distinctive way. Both combined together with the brilliance of Busquest to define an era(in midfield) where Xavi was the dictator, commander and the conductor while Iniesta was the protagonist. Xavi is the master of both long and short range passes, who could send a pass pass 3-4 defenders to set his target free on goal, while Iniesta is the master of tricks and magical skills, who could dribble pass 3-4 players to set his target free on goal. Xavi creates spaces for himself to put his players in good position to operate while Iniesta drags players out of position to give his players spaces to operate. They are both solid in holding the ball, keeping possession thick to wear down the opposition. They both show up in the biggest occasions where it matters most. Stats and assists alone can't describe their greatness as one needs to see them display their mastery on the field. They complimented each other perfectly and formed arguably the best 'duo partnership' in football. They both mean a lot to the fans. All in all, while Iniesta would have many to contest with as AM, I doubt if there's a player that could match Xavi as a CM. But, when it comes to picking who is greater of the two, individual preference will surely come to play as we are all idiosyncratic in nature. As for me? It's Xavi all the way, my favourite and my best. |
Nawah oooo! Its now Iniesta vs Xavi again on Chelsea thread. Two great legends that have so many things in common with their distinct approach to the game. |
coded01:You don reach here after your team don chop am again. What's the matter with Liverpool? Why are they just so inconsistent? Meanwhile, Arsenal seem not ready for the title yet. If they don't win it this year, I wonder when they will. Instead, na Barca dem wan beat. |
Awesome01:Happy birthday bro! |
Happy birthday to our very own Pique, we value your contribution to our great club over the years. |
nonsoroyalty:Na so ooo. I guess he didn't see it that way. We have already agreed two players that never played in same league shouldn't be compared, he still went ahead to answer the question. |
ollah1:Bro, Why don't you just drop this unnecessary argument? A Chelsea fan would choose Lampard in his team ahead of Iniesta while a Barca fan would prefer Iniesta. Both are legends of their clubs. The neutral fans who have seen them perform both in club and national level are the ones that can tell you who is who. It's obvious this kind of argument will just be generating unnecessary heat. Why not just drop it and move on before it turns to Mikel vs Roberto ![]() |
dmcdad:So you actually answered the question? You wanna start another pages of argument? I thought you are already tired of arguing on a matter that has been laid to rest over time, you easily fell for his trick of starting another comparison. What happened to your button these days? Hazard=Neymar, Lampard=Iniesta=Xavi, Drogba=Messi, Chelsea=Barca. All are great players. Let's stop unnecessary arguments here and there. |
erusen:Lol.... ![]() |
coded01:It's well my brother. ![]() |
MCJIKEL22:I don hold my peace tay tay oooo. Some guys are still ditching out some lessons though. |
Who is seeing this Madrid- Espayol match? They have already conceded 3 goals in the 1st 15mins. I doubt if it will not end in 7-8 goals. Just tell them to come play Barca, na then dem go remember say dem be fighter. Useless club. |
MCJIKEL22:Bro, I don gentle oooooo. |
Griffon:Easy bro, no vex abeg! If only you know the mess some of your guys made of Barca thread on that comparison. |
coded01:Lol Almost everyone is now on same page as regards the comparison. |
Valencia lost to Sporting and are yet to win a game in the league under the new coach. Watch them pulling some stunts against us on Wed. Na when dem see us their body go dey hot. |

I just weak. |
dmcdad:Oshey baba, That's exactly my position when I read on this thread that Barca parked the bus all because they didn't score 10 goals against Athleti |
Coded01, dmcdad. Abeg, anybody with that Adelan1 mikel pix? I learnt Barca parked the bus against Athleti. |
10Dove:Na me start am oooo bro, in my post wishing baba happy birthday, I said "my greatest CM of all time" and instead of your friend to just say his own greatest and move on, na insult e carry come our thread. I don dey look jeje like mikel oooo. |
dmcdad:Habah! You wan take my seat abi? Iniesta played with better team-mates. And yet, all the team mates have been tagged average. I don dey look like mikel ooooo. Codedo1, abeg give me my pix. |
bigkesh:I praised Xavi on his birthday and tagged him my greatest CM ever. You jumped in and attacked. I wish you could go back to how it all started maybe you will get the gist. I'm done with you sir. |
ElDeeVee:I was referring to the season he was adjudged the best passer in epl because of his superior number of side and back passes. Some Chelsea fans(I don't know about your thread) claimed he was better than Fabregas that season all because of that.I don't think you wanna claim you didn't get it unless you were not following the epl then. |
bigkesh:I think you are the one that really needs to chill. If you read through all the post, you would see when I said he was never denigrated but rather made a reference point of the argument. You guys praise your players at every slight opportunity whenever they play good albeit not winning much, and you expect Barca players who have won it all both at club and national level not to be praised. You were the one that jumped on this thread to assume Alba is the greatest, Pedro >Roben, Masch >Lahm all because we said Xavi is the greatest CM. I have not seen or heard any Barca fan call Busi the greatest here or anywhere, but you guys are quick to remind us how poor and average he is when ever we praise him for his influence on the team (hence the best in his position). If we praise Suarez as the best striker in the world, does that suggest we mean he's the greatest striker ever?If your media could so much praise Wilshere, Bale and co as the best even when they never achieved anything, if the Arsenal fans could be praising Ozil, Monrealn Bellerin and co as the best in your league, if Mikel was praised as the best passer in one season then all because of his numbers of side and back passes (guys who are yet to win any), and you expect those who have won it all to always be over looked. No one but only you have called Busi, alba, alves the greatest here all because you wanted to score a point. All your players you once rated above these Barca players have been all cursed and brought down by same Chelsea fans after they could live up to expectation. Where is Hazard? Where is Matic? Bro, na you we go beg to chill! |
bykebyke:Hmmmm, I'm sure you will not call him over hyped. Zizou was never a product of hype, he's a worthy legend of the game. |
coded01:I see every bro, I no just dey worry myself on top those arguments ni. Which one we never hear? You no dey in that year when dem dey compare Rooney to Messi? People dey wey still dey argue Hazard and Neymar. These kind of silly debates will never cease as lomg as EPL exists. Na that your mikel pix sure pass ooooo. |
barackohandso:You too don join abi? Na that Mikel pix sure pass ooooo I wan mad the 1st day I see the pix. |
coded01:I think they only made Xavi a reference point, not really a comparison. Oh boy, that thread na war zone ooo. |
