well, i decided to stay for many reasons, one, I did not feel like going to university, two) I applied to only british universities previously and my options were either imperial or kings but did not want to go to either because i hate the UK with a passion.

It is easier to tell the race of a person from thier DNA than it is to tell if I'm annoyed based on my post on Nairaland. lol

Not true- it is very easy to tell annoyed posts on nairaland- "slowpoke, idiot, ignorant" are quite common markers in nairaland, especially because someone doesn't agree with you. I am aware I use them too, but only when someone argues without logic while claiming logic.

Now race from someone's DNA is very very very difficult and unlikely to tell because there is no specific marker for one race. For example, Watson, who basically called us idiots, has a DNA that is supposed to be "significantly african."

Let me present my opinion on the issue. Finding a gene that determines race and intelligence, would be unlikely- such a trait would be a complex influence of various genes ( i keep getting shocked anytime people talking about finding a specific gene for a trait that is what i term a "spectrum trait" one that isn't discrete but a continuum such as height."

However, as a biological science race and intelligence fails even sometimes in the face of evolution (the problem with using evolution is that it is all speculation). But most should i say racial supremacist point to the situation of third world countries and how these countries are less-developed because of their low intelligence. The problem is that, the third world has no cogent response to this except to point out at globalization (the sudden introduction of African countries- which were european constructs- into a modern economy that they were ill-equipped to survive in) and colonialism (two points that are quite strong but we should also consider that India was once a colony but is becoming a prominent developing country).

I think that for us to respond to questions about race and intelligence we must put sentiments aside and attack them logically- not just that people are the product of their environments which is not usually teh case. for example, Lower income asian's do very well in schools and IQ test in the United States, far more than other minorities with the same income level.

That leads to my second examination, the question of what "intelligence" means. I define intelligence as perspicacious cognitive ability. The ability to become aware of, and interpret patterns in human society. This is not environmental, neither is it- in my opinion exclusively genetic- it is 60% cultural and 30 % intelligence, 10% self-awareness. The cultural factor plays an important role, because you must have experienced, for a significant part of your life, the norms and culture of a society, before you can address the patterns itself. intelligence/cognitive ability plays an important role- because you need this to be able to interpret these patterns and reapply them, as well as recognize new ones. Finally self-awareness, another important factor, because you need to be aware of you intelligence as well as ambitious enough to apply it.

and people shouldnt confuse street smarts with intelligence.

streets smart would make you a good agbero/area boy, intelligence would get you a nobel laureate in the sciences

By the way absolute truth is a term meaning total, unsubjective truth, no one in this world can claim to know an absolute truth except if they are God. Has nothing to do with this argument

Race and intelligence are psychological/sociological studies- no one considers them scientific truths well except you maybe. Most people consider it a pseudoscience. wonders shall never end.

I want to deal with only the hard sciences since economics is also a science and one built on models  but iits models are not taken as true OR EXACT.

In July 1996 my little brother was diagnosed with brain tumor
He went for surgery to remove it but due to the delicate nature of the cancer, all of it couldnt be removed and he had to go for chemo and radiation
None of it wasnt working, and to make it worse his head was swelling at an abnormal rate and he was opted to take another surgery to reduce the swelling, but his chances of living though it were very slim.
My mom objected to it, and the doctors got a lawyer and over ruled my mom.

The night before the surgery, my brother said he saw a man in all white, reaching over to him in the hospital.
He thought it was a doctor coming to take him away and he called my mom (who was at his bedside)
and he shook my mom until she woke up, but no one was there.
The next morning the doctors came and took my brother away.
before he went for his surgery the doctors scanned his head,
all of the fluids that was causing his swelling and the rest of the cancer was GONE.
He has been in remission ever since.

Mugu, I am assuming it exists- it must be able to meet these reuirements (if it cannot meet this requirement, then it doesn't exist). This is very popular in philosophy- I am not going to dispel your belief without considering it- but if considering it shows so much inconsistencies then it is illogical for it to exist.

My argument stands that juju follows the typical motifs of myth-telling- for example, the creation of constraints that  prevent its veracity. The problem with myths is that they are all the same regardless of cultures- the fear of animals like cats, dogs, snakes, rats are seen in all cultures. That doesn't mean that they are harmful- it is more an evolutionary instinct. The fact that juju is rarely displayed in the open but is all hearsay- who placed such constraints on juju?

That was what I was looking for before i commented on your experience . Religious views. For all of us rational agnostics/atheists- we are aware that the christian religion is a major fraud- not because we have anything against God (or maybe Satan possessed us and is deceiving us) but because we have decided to learn about our beliefs, examine and question them- not taking them based on faith (faith is not enough alone to justify holding a religious belief since muslims have faith and christians would argue that muslims end up in hell)

Now why am i bringing religion into this, because religion is important , when considering the origins of the supernatural. It is all in the mind- this supernatural crap. That is why all men of god are frauds- because i am sure nothing supernatural exist and if people claim to  be able to do the supernatural- then they are frauds. So if your pastor- after hearing the story of a girl turning into a cat, and conveniently goes and cut her hair with no fear- when the god he worships doesnt exist and is powerless, then i can conveniently say your story is a load of crap.


I can say that because (1) I know christianity is crap; and I am sure it is crap
(2) it is possible that juju exists but if it does it would have more power than christianity
(3) so i am still surprised that men of god no dey fear when they go against the supposed real juju except if they themselves get their power from juju
(4) The majority of white ppl know that christianinty is a made up religion even during the eary 20th century so if they can unfearful go into a medicine man's house with no fear, and no protection don't you think that they were aware that juju is false

The first gospel was supposedly written 80 years after jesus died. theologians had to constantly argue on what the trinity meant and other stuff before they finally decided on something.
