I ain't arguing with nobody, just been here a few days. I actually met a lecturer in nigeria who lived here 11 years before going back, he didn't really have a point of view of any location to him the whole germany is cool. I have a relative who stays here he feels the same way about the east but he has never been here. Am in the east. what I really notice is there are alot of aged people in the city am in. and at times you get that stare (from old peeps above 60 I would say) but thats in all cities, people in the south and west get that too. If you're the only black in a place you get that a lot. I know people in northern nigeria who say the press exaggerate the stories of the north but they never really experienced Boko haram. All I'm saying when you live in a place you in the best position to judge. Tschuss
Realk1:
I see your point, coming from a nigerian point of view. But Hartziv says he's been here almost (or all undecided) his life. I'm pretty sure he knows very well what he's saying too.

Anyone coming to Germany My advice, well, bring a lot of sweaters though you could get for 15 euros here, hoody, a trainers / chocks would be fine (one would do). Germans don't care if you wear Gucci (It's best you get winter boot and coat here). Bring necessities (toiletries) you would need for the first week and Indomie too, cos you gonna struggle with the food. N.B: Liquid ain't allowed on flights and put most toiletries and all that in transparent nylon. If you need a cheap flight take Emirates, it's long but they would just keep on feeding you and you would beg them to stop + you get a meal voucher at dubai airport + you could watch new movies and series on the flight..e.t.c. and most of all sign up for your schools Student Buddy program unless you have someone who's willing to assist you in your city or else you would struggle and waste a lot of money. 9ja and germany are totally different trust me Germans are nice, they don't need a penny from you. My student buddy actually loaned me 90 Euros and was willing to loan me 250 which is the whole thing but I hate debts till my block account becomes active without me asking her. They wouldn't talk to you because they ain't open like 9ja but they're really nice. Wish you all the best you would get here if you really want to and for anybody new in application Google is always your best friend.

have you lived in the east? Trust me with the rest of the world they ain't underdeveloped but the south is definitely richer and besides you stand to learn the language faster in a city with fewer internationals, every african I have met says that, I'm presently in the east, fine in the villages you could find Nazis but really even the young germans don't go to the villages. Most people that have lived in the east never have anything bad to say but people who never lived there seem to feel they're racist without proof. If you interested in germany just try and get there but the only barrier I see in settling is the Language but not location
HARTZIV:
east germany (former DDR) is economically underdeveloped, has higher unemployment rate and has more racism than the rest of germany but that mainly applies for the countryside

TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by segadebayo: 9:40am On Sep 26, 2014
Hi, In all my applications I used a letter of english proficiency what you can do is meet any lecturer not necessarily from the senate or dean once it's in the school letter head, It's stamped and it states your medium of teaching was totally in English you're good to go
XpensiveT: @Tope Walker...Boss, I mailed some schools and most of them replied my mail with the list of necessary documents needed for admission. Two schools stated that a letter of proficiency in English language from my school is good enough in lieu of TOEFL/IELTS. Oga mii, to get that kind letter from the skul i grad from no easy oo. OOU na state university and to collect certificate wey i work for sef na wahala no to talk of say make i go beg them for a letter. Its gonna take hell of months to get it.
Che i fit get the letter from a federal high court or what do you think sir? Do you have idea maybe german university will accept that kinda letter from a high court or not? I look forward to read from you boss. Thanks for the call the other day. #GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Maximalen Respekt, Sir

Amin, danke
damilola15: Sorry to hear about your situation. But as someone mentioned on the forum some time ago, destinations also count. Mine seems to be under little pressure as observed on the thread.

All the same, I pray and hope for your breakthrough too.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by segadebayo: 1:05pm On Sep 25, 2014
Congrats, lucky you I did mine on the 9th funded my account a week earlier, still yet to get response from the embassy. all the best
damilola15: Good morning peeps.
Before anything, join me in thanking the most high God to whom all thanks is due.

I had my interview on Wednesday, the 10th of September. I had transferred the funds on Friday the 5th and got a conformation on the 9th, a day before the interview.
And sorry I didn't post my interview questions as others, the questions were just as those on the forum. Because I was almost the only one in the house at Lagos, I almost killed myself with worry, (did I do well, what could go wrong and etc), I decided to leave Lagos and head to my cousins' for a cheer. They didn't fail to deliver but it still doesn't exclude the fact that the waiting period is never easy.

Long story short, yesterday (two weeks after the interview), the mail came that I should come with 3 months travelling insurance and my passport.

By God's grace, I should pick it up on Monday.

Thanks guys, every contribution on this forum is always useful even those questions we think are ridiculous and unnecessary.
To those still expecting, I leave Numbers 6 : 24 - 26 for you:

“The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”

Different states, different rules, some might issue 2 years straight while some will issue a year or a year and a half and to renew as usual you have to tender proof of financial means and you could switch that to sponsorship or whichever
dolpaz: Broses,
I once read somewhere that your account needs to be funded with 8040 each year before your local authority can renew your documents.
Anyway, i may be wrong.. Eke40seven, I will chat with you shortly
Regards !

Your date of enrollment is likely the reason you've not been contacted by the embassy. It's still almost 8 weeks ahead. Be rest assured you'll be getting your visa or else they would have notified you within a week after your interview to come to the embassy. I would advice being a little patient. give them time till the first week in October then if no response you could contact them because they would tell you visa processing could take close to 6months and as everyone here said they have so much on their hands. I mean I had to wait 7 weeks for my interview. Germans won't waste your time and then deny you visa. So just be patient, October is a little while ahead but check your spam messages regularly too
reecky: I funded my account long before my interview o...enrollment deadline is 27th oct
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by segadebayo: 12:25am On Sep 11, 2014

Do you mean from mail post. If you got an email from the bank, print that. That's all you need they don't send via post or how did the bank tell you the money is in there.
omolola22: Hello guys. Please i am awaiting my confirmation letter even tho the Deutsche Bank told me the money is in there alredy. But i am yet to get the confirmation letter. It's alredy over a week.
I don't know what to do.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by segadebayo: 12:39am On Sep 05, 2014
Banks differ people shld try union bank then I used stanbic. But I was unable to convert it in the bank since my admission letter. Stated nothing about living expense but someone mentioned 213 earlier which is a great bargain but I doubt any mallam wld change @ dat price trust me bank rates are better than black market so people shld go for union bank then
phucado: Thanks everyone o. Thanks to the dude that talked of confirmation sent to spam mail. I checked my spam mail imediatel and saw my confirmation there.
This is how I did my transfer.
I opened a savings account with union bank. Credited the account with about 1.835 M
Went to the bank and told them about the transfer I wanted to do . The friend in charge gave me a form called FORM A to fill of which I filled in the details. In the mode of transfer section of the form, I wrote TELEGRAPHIC TRANSFER. After that, he gave me a plane sheet of paper where I wrote a letter addressed to the branch manager, asking him/her to debit from my account the naira equivalent of 8090Euros and credit it to my deustchebank account( at this point I filled in all the details in the letter sent by deustchebank as confirmation for opening account with them). I also wrote the purpose of payment as fees and living cost for visa.
After that, I gave the man soft copies of the following;
1. my admission letter
2. letter sent by deustchebank confirming my account opening.
3. Scanned international passport
4. First degree certificate.
After submitting all these documents and doing all that, I left.
The exchange rate used for me was 219.5
Charges were okay.
I didn't buy any euro from anywhere or anyone
I have got my confirmation of deposit stating my account was credited with 8105 Euros.
Thanks all.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by segadebayo: 10:11pm On Sep 04, 2014
concluded on it last week tuesday
Realk1: Bro, please when did you make the conversion at the black market?
I heard the euro is weakening as of recent. Any idea?
Thanks.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by segadebayo: 7:47pm On Sep 04, 2014
You might not be able to convert Naira to Euro from the bank due to some central bank policies at present (but if there's a portion of your admission letter referring to the 8040 euros) you should be able to change at the bank. They charged me 228 on black market but It's possible you might get less. anyway bank rates are lower (217 or lesser) but I doubt they'll change it for you.
osurvey: Bro please how much is euro now.? And also how much were u charged by the bank for the transaction?
Thanks.

you sure you dont need an ip or vpn to open toytown because naija ain't allowed to register
Eke40seven: I will choose my words carefully in giving my opinion.
The school is located in Iserlohn a town of about 95,000 people. A good town generally with good leisure and some industries, since its close to the Ruhr Westphalia industrial region. It also has some technical institute, two tertiary institutions, the subject school included. it is just about under 12 miles from Dortmund (say, Oworonshoki- Ifako in Lagos) about 15 mins (not accurate o) drive considering a better accessibility than Lagos. Note that Dortmund is also a major city and an industrial hub. So I assume it is a good prospect as far as Job and other economic considerations are concerned.
In terms of rankings and rating, (am being careful here so that I won't ruffle feathers) from all indications, it may not be a top notch school comparatively but not too bad generally. Just maybe within the first 130 or thereabout of the over 350 or so tertiary schools in the country. However, there is an official German ranking (used by DAAD) which estimates the strength of your school by faculty or department, which is more indicative in choosing a specific course of study. The link is here, http://www.che-ranking.de/cms/?getObject=615&getLang=en
Alternatively you can register your enquiries at "toytown-germany" (Google it). On that forum, you can meet English speaking Germans and other international students who may be willing to give you a clearer, unbiased though sometimes critical view of the school. Make your view clear to them by writing plainly so that they can understand and answer you well.
I hope I have been of little help? Hope you get more contribution on the issue.
Good luck!
