Thanks for the detailed response. I wouldn't precisely know if it's permanent residence or green card he called it. But he mentioned something about staying in the UK for years.

He's coming to the UK for masters degree with the hope relocating with his family but he hasn't really figured out the kinda job he would take up there.

Thanks.
Let him apply for jobs directly, there is no need for him to come to study as he is an experienced professional in a field in demand. Tell him to explore the upcoming PBS route which will start in January. And apply for jobs directly! The Msc route sounds unnecessary to me, he has a lot of potential!

[quote author=YelloweWest post=92512500]Read his post, he didn't just slap her. He said he beat her up mercilessly. That means he hit her repeatedly with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm! Thats a crime![/qu3ote]

He is even boasting and saying it with impunity. "I beat her mercilessly ". What a sick society. Maybe if she fell down and died in the process of this his merciless beating, then he will understand the gravity of what he did.
FamilyRe: I Am Cancelling All Marriage Plans Because Of What My Girlfriend Did To My Niece by segun688: 11:15am On Aug 06, 2020
If someone can boldly declare on a public forum that he "beat a woman" till she was taken to the hospital, and people are supporting him, it is a sad reflection of the society. Domestic violence is a crime. In a sane society, OP should be arrested and charged. This country is a really strange place to be , WTH

Funny enough, I sort of have all of these.

I have a gym contract for over a year now,
I recently just signed a mobile internet contract and also registered to vote. My name is on the voting register now.

The payment for these contracts are direct debit bill. So I seem not to understand where the problem is.
You need to take a break from applying for credit cards for at least 3 months. Otherwise you will keep getting rejected. Also register on platforms such as "moneysupermarket " These platforms allow you check for credit cards which will show you the ones you most likely get approved for before applying. Finally, apply for store credits such as pc world etc, then pay that off very quickly

This is very apt. The lack of objectivity in the post is astounding. A woman suddenly just wants to destroy him and their children and indirectly destroy herself for no reason at all? He keeps downplaying his own part by saying 'he is not a saint', so is he well aware he did things as well. Ultimately, we are all responsible for our actions, but no one is ever completely innocent. I think he should also dig deep and be honest about the contributory actions he enabled as well. Even Jezebel didnt mess with her husband's prosperity!

etrange:
Lmao... No, I wasn't. (Lord, this was funny).

I was expecting a more objective story. He's the one telling the story and surely, he'll tell it in way that leaves him with little or no blame; that's human nature. But on the other hand, that defeats the aim. If he wants to get sincere advice, he should try to be as less biased as possible. It's not very likely that his wife, who was loving at a point, is just out to destroy him now that she is abroad. Even bad wives still want successful husbands. Something must have triggered her actions and letting us in on those areas would help us come up with better solutions. But instead, he's telling a story of a villain and her victim. Of course, we will all ask him to leave the woman. So I see this as him asking for moral support for what he already wants to do.

We men should understand that this is not Nigeria and therefore family structures can never be like Nigerian. Couples work together to sustain their homes. In some cases, the wives even work later hours. In such a case, for instance, it becomes illogical to expect the wife to serve you dinner and breakfast as she used to do in Nigeria. This is just an example, I'm not saying that's OP's case.

LOL. Story

Black men don't have the balls to treat white women the way they treat black ones. A White woman will rarely get the chance to disrespect him, because he will respect himself first.

Those ones no get time for too much talk, the day you shout at them, dem don report you already, you won't even get the chance to beat them. It is Nigerian women that will stand and be following you to shout.

Make una go ask Eboue wetin e see for oyibo hand.
Are you minding them? The way they portray oyinbo as the ultimate solution to all evil. Lol. They themselves know that deep down, if they even show any iota of aggression, or unreasonable demands, they are finished. You are right, black woman allow it go too far.

LinLinGentle:
Once again, neither of us was saintly back in Nigeria. I visited from abroad one time and discovered she was on dating websites and attempting to be with men amongst other disgusting things. This was one of the reasons why we almost got divorced. Her family elders went with her to our family house to beg me and my people not to proceed with the divorce cos I had actually filed and sent the petition.

I forgave her for the sake of our children. They're my usual weak point that everyone uses to box me into a corner to get me to do something stupid. We resolved all issues and she and her family made several promises regarding her behaviours. I thought that it night be time we started planning on their relocation abroad as eliminating distance would be best for us all, only to get to this country and started dealing with even bigger sh**t

So there is really nothing like "Ask for forgiveness for all you did in Nigeria". I wasn't bashing or maltreating this woman. She is tougher than someone that could be maltreated sef. I have my occasional outbursts every now and then when I'm at my wit's end, but that's just about it.
Look at how he is down playing physical violence. Do you know the physical and psychological damage you did to her during your numerous 'Occasional outbursts'? See how you are down playing the way you beat her severally. You both had a part to play in all of this. A woman cannot just decide to destroy you, especially when it will end up affecting her as well.

hi. i have a cousin who has been married for 3 years. She just confided in me that some 'prophets' have been telling her husband that she has been unfaithful. I know it isn't true because we grew up together and i know she does not engage in such. She says her husband doesn't believe them, but the so called prophecies keep coming up. I don't know what to advise her to do. Wont mind responses from mature minds. or those who went through similar issues.

Hello everyone... I have a kid sister who is being invited to attend a cousin's convocation in September, she is presently serving as a corper and doesn't have much in her account, just her allowee and stipends from famz. I am ready to sponsor her to and fro the UK. Kindly advice on this issue . SHE IS JUST 22yrs. Justwise and others ... lets hear your view . Thanks .
when I tried to apply for UK visa during my NYSC, I was refused on the basis that as a corper serving, the federal government stipulates that corpers currently serving should not leave the country, the ECO then highlighted this rule in the document. Maybe the rules have changed though, this was in 2010

Bro I was born in England and wish to apply for Uk passport, please give me some tips.
depends on the year you were born. if it was before 1983, you might be able to get the passport. If you lived there for the first 7-10 years of your life ( and you have solid evidence) it might also be feasible. However, if you were born after 1983 and left immediately, it becomes more complicated. Check gov.uk for further information. you might be eligible for the Windrush scheme.

I am in the same situation. Used the 'keep my passport' option, I got a mail from UKVI on the 16th July that my application is concluded. No pick up mail from TLS yet.

Please do you have an idea of how they manage visa for 'keep my passport' service? Are they still going to mail the passport back to the UK to paste the visa or is it pasted on the passport here in Nigeria?
Any email now?

Hello everyone, I got an email 'Uk visa application-Application concluded. Your UK visa application has been concluded' on Thursday the 19th of July . I observed that it is different from the normal 'Application dispatched' emails. For those who were successfully issued with visas, were the emails that you received 'Application concluded or Application dispatched', so I can prepare my mind.

RomanceRe: Before Calling Your Boyfriend A Cheat Read This! by segun688:
whether male or female....we are different from ANIMALS. Both women and men get tempted, whether visual stimulation or whatever. If you know deep down you cannot be faithful then dont get married or claim you are in a relationship. If a man or woman is deeply and genuinely in love with his or her partner, cheating will not even be an option, as the mind and heart will be occupied with the thoughts about the partner. That is the truth, the issue of women exposing or men having cash is irrelevant, for as long as we are alive, there will always be half naked women or goodlooking men with cash. This is why we are not animals and have been endowed with something called CONTROL. if a man cannot be faithful, where is the love?. i mean the mad, passionate...all encompassing love? same for women....thats why i have more respect for single people who dont believe in monogamy, than people who claim they are in relationships and hop around
RomanceRe: What Are The Reasons For High Level Of 30 Years+ Single Ladies In Nigeria? by segun688: 1:19pm On Mar 02, 2013
There are so many over generalizations in people's posts. First things first. there are just about the same number of men that haven't settled down ( also over 30). Also, assuming that just because a lady isn't married at 30 is because she must be loose or over picky is ridiculous. I have a very good friend, she is lovely, sweet and humble, however, she isn't what you will call a stunner in the looks department. Due to this, men do not ask her out. she is over 30 now, will you say she is wayward? no. Marriage is also a very important decision that shouldn't be delved into due to "age". A single life is much better than a horrible marriage. As for ladies, please don't settle for abusive relationships...also, choose a partner you can work with, a partner you can grow with. Money will always come especially when there is prayer, love, support and understanding. Also, don't stop developing yourself....i have friends that got married at 35...and they are all very happy.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Is The Worth Of A Phd Financially? by segun688: 6:57pm On Feb 08, 2013
hmm The level of ignorance about what a PhD entails on a site like nairaland is amazing and ridiculous. First of all, a PhD is a philosophical degree that stretches the mind with the intention of contributing to the body of knowledge. Now, I dont blame Nigerians for being skeptical towards a PhD degree. but i will give an insight of what i know about the degree. Abroad, there are training and workshops that PhD students are expected to attend. They train them to be BOTH consultants and Academics for career flexibility. Soft wares are taught, they are trained on how to think, how to question the status quo, how to search deep and come up with something original. A bulk of all the inventions you see are brought by PhD students, toiling away and finding out how things can be done differently. On the issue of finance, fine, i will agree that a phd does not guarantee billions, but if you make the most of the Opportunity, you will be comfortable. The exposure, the training, the conference etc that comes along with the degree is fantastic. Yes a PhD is preferred for a basis of training to be a consultant, an expert in a field. And yes i know of 10 PhD students working in top notch organizations where thinking is a priceless commodity. But i wont blame Nigerians, when they will rather adore an illiterate billionaire because he has money and they are quick to ridicule any PhD Holder that doesn't seem as wealthy. I respect the people who quest for knowledge and contribution....who are ready to think outside the box. The quick example that people are talking about is the truck driver sage that Dangote spoke about. Like i said, it is up to everyone to make the most of what they have. if the PhD holder chooses to be a truck driver....so be it. from the considerable number of people who have done their PhD'S in Reputable institutions...they have been successful in their own right....Wole Soyinka...Dora Akinyuli and even friends and family that i know of. Please lets encourage the quest for knowledge and worship money less, else we will never grow as a nation. Dont be quick to scoff at the PhD especially if you do not know what it entails. Its 2013 and its a little wonder why we are still where we are in this country
