Don't know about the men but without a doubt, this is the rubber footwear in vogue for Niaja ladies right now (See pics below). Turn right, left, centre, front, back you go see chick dey wear am.

My two sisters get am sef. My colleagues for work get am too.

It's very popular in Lagos and Abuja and since these two cities sort of set the fashion trends in Naija I guess it be common in other Naija cities too.

Me thinks it goes well with informal outfits and is good for outings like the beach etc

Damn! Fashion in Nigeria is so one way traffic but I guess like all fashion fads, it'd pass and something else would take over.

Holla at me, if u wanna activate your Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise permanently. It's FOC of course kiss

Computers › Re: Windows 8: The Thread by semid4lyfe(m): 5:56am On Jan 02, 2013
moonraker: The reason I suggested you use Pro instead of enterprise is becos of the very thing you crave, Permanent activation for free!!!

The enterprise edition cannot be permanent activated for the sole reason that the license has to be renewed every 180 days.

Where else, if by some miracle (and they usually happen) able to find a MAK key or some activator that can activate Windows 8,

The pro will be your best bet!!!

Hmmm, be like sey I don enter one chance undecided

Assuming I wanna use Windows 8 Pro, can I do an upgrade installation over my Windows 8 Enterprise and keep all my installed apps, settings and files cos frankly I don't cherish the thought of a clean installation as it'd be too much work.

This "The Figurine" argument again. Sighing in exasperation here. . .

https://www.nairaland.com/628119/what-last-movie-watched-part/41

semid4lyfe: THE FIGURINE - MY REVIEW

Not your typical Nollywood movie and this was obvious from the first few scenes. . . i.e The bringing forth of the goddess to Earth by the Priest, the 7 years of prosperity & 7 years of misery, death of the priest and the subsequent burning of the shrine and the downpour of rain which was all done in a colour to reflect a period in the distant past was very impressive.

Script & Directing: The script is the written form and template from which a movie is made and a good script does so much for a movie. The story is very believable and the dialogue & interaction between characters was very well scripted & potrayed on screen. . .although there was some ''forced'' dialogue in one or two scenes to promote/advertise the movie sponsors. eg the Miccom Golf Resort, Osun State & Lagos Park scenes.

Despite the movie being a slow paced ''talk'' drama, it stayed interesting through-out, was evenly paced, never dragged or had a lull. Also, the transition between scenes was seamlessly done and all this is due to the excellent job done by the Director.

Cast & Acting: Everyone cast in this movie was perfect for his/her role and performed very well except Funlola Aofiyebi-Rahman who played Linda and was guilty of ''overacting''. She overdid the whole ''single'', ''upwardly mobile'', ''rich'' and ''successful'' young lady trying to hook a man and settle down thing IMO. Her gesticulations, rolling of eyes, flailing of hands etc was exaggerated, annoying and irritating to watch. Someone needs to sit that lady down and tell her to stop overacting cos she does exactly the same thing in the MNET tv soap, Tinsel.

Femi (Ramsey Noah) & Mona had maad chemistry and I really felt their vibes. However, I was most charmed by the man who played the role of Mona & Femi's lecturer. . .his performance was outstanding and he stole the show in the few scenes he appeared.

Cinematography, Costuming, Set Location & Design: Figurine also does well in these areas. The village life scenes at the beginning of the movie, the NYSC orientation camp (the best depiction of it I've seen in any Nollywood movie) and all the other scenes were vey well done. The costuming of characters and design/decor of locations/sets used in the movie was very good too. Take for example the Lecturer's office and it's interior decor which was very artistic, afrocentric and stunningly beautiful. . .with all the posters of african art forms, deities, plaques, sculptures etc. . . .and the parrot which squeaked when Shola touched it's cage grin

Score and Soundtrack: The background sounds that accompanied the different scenes and the soundtrack (the araromire song. . .and thankfully it wasn't a rehash of the story) of the movie were low key and not loud like in most Nollywood productions. Also the background sounds kept fading in & out and was in sync with whatever was happening at any given time in the movie. All in all, the musical score and soundtrack provided very good transitions between the scenes and perfectly portrayed the emotional viewpoint for the scenes and the film as a whole.

Language, Translation and Subtitling: I absolutely love the language used in the movie. . . .the combination of English, Pidgin and Yoruba spoken was perfect for a story set in 21st century Lagos and it wasn't misused at all in relation to the characters. As in, characters who were supposed to speak English to each other spoke English and those who were supposed to speak Pidgin or Yoruba spoke exactly that. For example, it would have being foolish for Shola to have conversed with his Lecturer in Pidgin or Yoruba.

The translation and English subtitling was okay too as there was no "tabons" but I felt it could have been better and more specific as there were times the subtitled English translation conveyed the general meaning of what was spoken and not the exact meaning. Also there were a few parts in which Yoruba was spoken and there was no subtitled translation shown on screen.

The Climax & Ending: This is what I like most about Figurine. When the truth unravels it'll shock you. Also, it's doesn't conclude it's self and has what I'll call an "Open Ending". . . as in, it leaves you to draw your own conclusion and make up your own mind on what to believe. It's the kinda movie you see at the Cinema, turn to your friend at the end to ask what happened and discuss with during the long drive home. . . and many days after.

Overall, it's a very good movie and I'll score it a 7/10

Do not mislead people here. You probably got your info from goal.com but it's false.

Nigeria and Barcelona are presently on the same time zone so there's no time difference between Nigeria and Barcelona, Spain. Whatever time the match will kick-off in Barcelona/Catalonia is the same time it'd start in Nigeria.

Moreover, all the ticketing sites have the match for 7pm. Checking the time of a city against your local time is one of the easiest things to do on the web. Learn to use the internet for yourself and do not swallow what goal.com feeds you hook, line and sinker.

moonraker: No aero in windows 8.

Update your graphics drivers plus move to google chrome...
SimonAndal: Firstly, IE10 (Metro version) is brilliant! Far better than Chrome and Firefox. That's what I've been using since I upgraded

And no, Windows 8 doesn't offer Aero. What it does is make your taskbar (only the taskbar) a bit transparent. (Notice I said transparent and not translucent. 7 had translucency with Aero). It also changes the colour of the taskbar to match the background image currently in use on the desktop. Pretty cool, eh?
It wasn't about the graphics driver as I had updated to the latest version. Also, the other browsers are working flawlessly.

Anyway, I fixed the choppy & slow browsing with Mozilla Firefox by installing the latest Mozilla Firefox and deactivating the use hardware acceleration option in the browser and it's been smooth sailing since then.

BTW, Windows 8 offers an aero theme called aero lite. It's just hidden and has to be enabled. I've done mine already but I'm not feeling it like the Aero theme on Windows 7.

I haven't used IE since the days of vista but with what SimonAndal posted up there, I'll give it a try. I'll be tweaking, re-tweaking & un-tweaking this system for the next few days to get maximum performance.

moonraker: What I cant understand though is why you would install enterprise instead of professional lipsrsealed
DAvIt0: abi y nt Pro
Isn't Enterprise the most advanced of the Windows 8 OS or did Wikipedia get it wrong in their Comparison chart? Why I go chop chicken when turkey dey? grin

Funnily enough, it was Pro I first installed but I removed it and installed Enterprise after just a day. Anyway, I downloaded ISOs of both of 'em so I can always revert back to Pro if I want.

all4naija: @ semid4lyfe

Do not forget to upgrade you BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) to the latest one, by downloading it from your computer maker official website. Before doing the upgrade remove every external devices, close all works(webpages, folders, applications, etc), make sure your system is removed from hibernation state and connect it to the main power source.

It will really help in alleviating some disturbing issues in your Windows 8 Operating System.
This is about the only thing I haven't done. I'll update it right away. Thanks

Hemanwel: Please,I want to get the fact straight up:
Is it CATALONIA or CATALUNYA?
I had always thought it's the latter.
Post:Catalunya would have a real crush on the Super Chickens.
I predict a bleeping 3 nil.
All three spellings of the place; Catalonia, Catalunya and Cataluña are correct:

Catalonia is English. It is pronounced how it looks.
Catalunya is Catalan, the local language of Catalonia. It is pronounced how it looks.
Cataluña is Spanish. It is pronounced like 'Catalunya'.

Obviously, as the English word exists, it should be written 'Catalonia' when writing in English. 'Catalunya' and 'Cataluña' would be wrong
.

Sports › Nigeria Vs Catalonia Friendly (1 - 1 ) On Wednesday January-2-2013 by semid4lyfe(mod):
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on the "La Selecció", the official football team of the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia in an International Friendly & Exhibition match on Wednesday, 2nd January 2013 at the Cornella-El Prat Stadium, the home ground of La Liga club, RCD Espanyol.

Manager of the Catalonia side, Johan Cruyff has named a strong squad that includes 10 players from FC Barcelona, seven from RCD Espanyol and two from La Liga club, Rayo Vallecano.

Austrian club, Red Bull Salzburg, Getafe and AC Milan also contributed one player each to the Catalonia team.

Nigeria which is in camp in neighboring Portugal preparing for the African Cup of Nations will be fielding a mix of domestic league players and foreign pros in this game though they'll be without Captain - Joseph Yobo, Chelsea Duo - Mikel Obi & Victor Moses and Isreal-Based Goal keepers, Vincent Enyeama & Austin Ejide and in their absence, either Warri Wolves Chigozie Agbim or Heartland's Daniel Akpeyi will be in goal.

The friendly against the Super Eagles is Cruyff's last game in charge of Catalonia, and he's said the best players have been chosen, leaving out players from the second division, because it is an important game and the Nigerians are preparing for the African Cup of Nations.

On his part, Super Eagles gaffer, Stephen Keshi has urged Nigerians not to loose sleep over the game as his team will put in a strong performance against Catalonia.

The Words:

“For me it was a personal obligation. Forty years ago I was well received and have been here as a player and coach. I have fulfilled my obligations that I targeted and much more.

It's an important game for me, the players and the people of Catalonia and I'll like to win and bow out with a very loud ovation” — Johan Cruyff, Coach of Catalonia

“This will be my second time of facing Catalonia as a coach. I still recall when we were preparing for the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations when I was assistant to Bonfrere Jo. We lost that game 5-0.

We will be playing with a team dominated by players who ply their trade in the Nigeria Premier League. One or two foreign-based professionals will join us and I want to assure our teeming fans that the boys selected for that game will put in a strong performance against Catalonia” — Stephen Keshi, Super Eagles Coach

So what do you think? Does Stephen Keshi and in deed the players have what it takes to stop the likes of Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Sergi Roberto, Cristian Tello, Carlos Puyol, Martin Montoya, Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, Marc Bartra, Jordi Alba, Sergio Tejera, Joan Capdevila? etc and get a respectable result OR will it be another drubbing like in '98?

Who knows? Drop your opinion, prediction, comments and perhaps *pause* prayer for the team so it doesn't start 2013 with a loss tongue

I installed Windows 8 Pro last nite, played around with it until I got the hang of it, then I removed it this morning and did a clean install of Windows 8 Enterprise. (I always like using the OS with the most features.)

Activated it to a full version using a KMS activator although it'd expire in 6 months time (June-23-2013) but I can always re-activate it and hopefully by that time, there'll be a permanent Windows 8 activator.

Mind giving me the name of the activator and a screenshot of it? wink
Computers › Re: Windows 8: The Thread by semid4lyfe(m): 6:52am On Dec 29, 2012
henryskywalker2003: Yes you can, but before you do make sure you downloaded all the necessary drivers for your hardware and keep them at hand just in case. I ran into a similar problem when installing mine. Found out that the Broadcom Ethernet card that worked out of the box when I installed Windows 7 didn't work with Windows 8, same goes for the Intel VGA (The resolution was very off).

Another thing, don't assume you'll like Windows 8 just because you installed a transformation pack. A transformation pack is nothing more than a theme when you really get down to it. So, be prepared to discover that there are lots of things you might miss from Windows 7 and a whole bunch of new stuff added.

As for the activators, am pretty sure you'll find one in the same site you downloaded your copy of Windows 8.
Ok, thanks. As it is, I have all my drivers ready. You're right about the transformation pack too.

Also, I've downloaded about 5 or 6 different activators and the problem now is which do I use? undecided

moonraker: well the first option is to buy the software

The second option is to find a MAK key (Multiple activation key) if you find a working one, you can erm activate!!

Third option is to use KMS. Requires you to rearm after 180 days

So there you go abt the activation saga!!!
Buying the software is out of it so how do I get a working MAK Key? And will the MAK key activate it permanently or is it also time limited?

I have the KMS activator already but it requires me going online . . .as in an internet connection with a working server & IP. Isn't there an offline permanent activator one can use and does that mean all other activators out there are fake?

I mean, looking through warez sites and the screenshots posted for the different Windows 8 activators, they all show "Windows is Activated" status BUT then I read somewhere that ONLY the KMS (180 days) activator REALLY activates Windows 8 as all the other activators just tend to change or replace some dll files in the system which falsely shows it to be activated. Na true?

https://img853.imageshack.us/img853/5139/img3u.png

Lastly which version of Windows 8 should I INSTALL? Windows 8 Enterprise or Windows 8 Pro? I wan install am tomorrow so make una reply fast o as I wan enter 2013 with Windows 8 by Fire by Force grin
