beckyomas: Gee! Guys, this thread was opened 4yrs ago...na wah oToo much Garrium sulphate is bad for the eyes. Look again, the thread was opened January 8, 2013 and not 2008 |
honeric01: you mean opposing 7 attacking our 3 right?Yeap! |
elampiro: Dike didn't do well against Catalonia. The only highlight was the goal. May be he will come into Eagles in the future.Bros, how you dey watch your own ball sef? Bright Dike did not do well against Catalonia? Bright Dike was one of the best players in the 2 games he featured for the Eagles You rate a player for his qualities and what he does with and off the ball in matches. He's a power forward & has pace. He packs a powerful shot in both legs and is an aerial threat. Positional play, off the ball movement etc were quite good too. Against Catalonia, he ran and closed down the spaces between the Opponents Centre backs and made their build up from the back slower, he dropped deep into our half to collect passes and was the only one with the confidence to hold the ball in the 1st half His transitional play from defence to attack in that match that resulted in the goal was awesome too. Watch the goal. . . he collected the ball in our 18-box, passed it to Onazi, ran forward without the ball into position (watch the replay. . .2 players dropped back and stopped running when Onazi collected the ball) and when Onazi passed the ball to him at the edge of the box, he still had the presence of mind to side-step a defender coming from his "blind side" and bury the shot with his left leg at the back of the net. No talk am again, Bright Dike did well against Catalonia! |
Jarus: Still on Dike, I honestly don't know what Ejike is doing on that list. Na by force to include a home based if we don't have quality ones. Dike is better than Ejike and Keshi included Ejike ahead of Dike only to be seen as developing home-based. To me, Gabriel Reuben, Agbim and Oboabona are the only homebased that have business in that team. The selection of some of the home-based players in the final list bordered on sentiment & blackmail. . .plain and simple! Keshi was on record to have said that all teams that have won the World Cup had done so with predominantly home-based players and he had promised that a couple of them will make the final team and he couldn't go back on his words. By the way, I disagree with you. If there's any home-based player that is most undeserving of a place in the final list, it has to be Henry Uche. Ejike Uzoenyi played well during the qualifiers and it was only in our last two games that he's hasn't measured up. He's a good player, he's just lost a little form. Form is temporary, class is permanent! |
honeric01: It's very easy to know people who do not have any idea on what they're talking about from their comments, that's why i don't bother replying their post. Yeah, I agree Kenneth Omeruo will do well at right back and really stabilize that position. He's done well @ that position in his two games for the Eagles. At the 2010 AFCON, Echiejile was a better defender than T.Taiwo and even benched him after our opening match against Egypt but since then he's been poo in the Green-White-Green. Always clueless, indecisive & hesitant, poor tackling techniques, easily dribbled, lack of pace. . .defensively & offensively he's also zero. At least T.T had pace, was a goal threat with his explosive shot, was an option for free kick & sure bet for PK ![]() Me thinks something drastic needs to be done to fill some positions in the Eagles like the left-back after the AFCON. . . .maybe a special open screening exercise to find a good & reliable fit. We've been through so many players from Mutiu Adegoke, Valentine Nwabili, Juwon Oshaniwon and they all do not inspire confidence. Also, keep it in mind that most teams have natural right-footed players and will most likely attack through that wing. Na only God go help us for SA. |
honeric01: Heheh my brother, they're more than just 2 o, some people with sentiments. He's already moved from Celtic and signed for another Scottish Premier league side, Kilmarnock FC and he's been promised regular playing time there. I also Away from Rabiu, I really wish Bright Dike had made the final 23-man list. HE DESERVED TO BE ON THE LIST. |
honeric01: YetFixed your post. |
All na self-interest jare. . . The Alaba-Pound Road-Upper Iweka-Idumota film merchants gave Emeka Ike starring roles in their mass produced & mushroom DVD movies and now that they're no more, he's not getting roles cos the Professional film makers/production houses won't touch him with a 10-feet pole cos he's a crappy actor hence the rant & accusation. C'est fini! More power to the likes of Tunde Kelani, Kunle Afolayan, Jetta Amata, Chineze Anyaene, Tade Ogidan, *Obi Emelonye* (I hesitate to put him on the list) etc and all the other revolutionary film makers. With them there's hope for Nollywood. . . To Bayowa Films (coke-pusher), Remmy Jes, Kas Vid, Infinity Merchandise, P. Collins, O.C Affassons and all the other mushroom film producers/merchants/makers, I say good riddance to bad rubbish. You won't be missed. |
Kenneth Omeruo was also one of the subs. He started the 2nd half @ right-back in place of Efe Ambrose and he did pretty well IMO. He's missing from your player rating? ![]() |
^^^ Started watching Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) at home last night immediately after the Nigeria vs Cape Verde match. Didn't go far before nature called but I copied it into my flash so I could continue at the office today and that's exactly what I'm doing. So far, it's been interesting but the plot is a bit corny & cheesy to me. Also, SRK is annoying me with his gesticulations and facial expressions. I'll reserve my remaining comments till I'm through with it. . . I leave you with this screenshot. See ya *Plugs Earphones into his ears and continues with movie*

Jarus: To me, Taiye Taiwo is better better than Echiejile. I don't know why Keshi picked the guy over TT True. . .and he brings much more to the table. Goal threat and a better scorer, option for free kick, a sure-better for PK etc |
ola pluto: Half time changes needed: Onazi out, Reuben in. V.Moses Out, IK Uche in. Efe Ambrose out, Kenneth Omeruo in. If not, we may concede 2 quick goals. I COMPLETELY agree. I also hope Keshi has not announced his final team so Ogenyi Onazi can be dropped. That guy is a waste of space. Bright Dike should be in the team |
No organized play at all. . .disappointing performance from the Eagles in the 1st half |
Onazi is a dolt. How did he make the team? ![]() |
Defence still not inspiring confidence. Did anyone see that through pass through our defence? |
Cape Verde asking all the early questions and looking more purposeful How did Ogenyi Onazi make this team? |
Ejovwoke: Who still dey watch local station?Seriously, I wanted to tear into you but I'll refrain cos I'm a mod. So I'll just ask you a question. . .how many Nigerians have DSTV? |
His tweets seem to be corroborated by this news report: http://allsports.com.ng/2013/01/07/nigerians-set-to-miss-out-on-watching-the-2013-nations-cup/ Owing by the way Confederation of African Football(CAF) sold its TV rights,Nigerians might not be able to watch the 2013 African Nations Cup on terrestrial TV(local stations). |
Hmmm, better go subscribe for DSTV if you want to watch this Nations cup cos it ain't sure our Local stations will broadcast it. . . . . Even if the matches will be our local stations, it'd most likely be the opening match, Nigeria's matches and the final match only Got this from Channels TV Sports Anchor & Presenter twitter page. I'll break it down for those who are either too lazy to read or read and do not comprehend. The finer points 1. He's saying African Magic/Hi-Nolly were bad ideas as it has led to the demise of the "mushroom" (my words & opinion) film makers/producers & marketers like Bayowa Films, Remmy Jes, Kas Vid, Infinity Merchandise, P. Collins, O.C Affassons etc 2. No more job for the boiz as lots of actors like him & others were being patronized by these "mushroom" movie producers/marketers3. Since the advent of African Magic, Hi-Nolly etc, the sales of DVDs on the streets has dwindled. . . . 4. African Magic is ripping actors and producers off. . . . . 5. Nollywood was put together & built by hardworking peeps & husslers like him but now it has been hijacked by some corporate foreign investors and they're reaping all the benefits 6. Nigerian movies are now being shown on DSTV not with the original soundtracks but South African soundtracks. 7. South African actors & actresses are being promoted at the expense of Nigerian practitioners. .reference to Jacob Cross & Tinsel. 8. The present DG of the Nigeria Video Censorship Board (NVCB) had a stake in HiTV. The TV houses lobbied for him to be appointed DG and cos of his "self-interest" he imposed a rating/screening fee of N5Million and this made the movie business un-lucrative for the erstwhile investors so they ran out of business. Hin dey bitter and hin yarn plenty things but as I dey phone, make I SMS for here. Maybe, others will break it down better. . . . |

http://www./emeka-ikes-words-about-nollywood/ Away from that, Why are you yet to return to the movies? I’m not the only one who is missing in action. A lot of us are but perhaps I get noticed more because maybe I am most loved. We all parade ourselves as stars but we know stars have levels. Away from that, I am not the only one involved. Have you bothered to ask when last you heard of Oba Iweka road or of Idumota or Pound road in Aba? That was the last time we stopped being paid. What do you mean? As you can see, the investors in the movie industry (Bayowa Films, Remmy Jes, Kas Vid) have been run over by the TV houses, no thanks to some of my colleagues. Nollywood has been taken over and it is evident. Did some players in the movie industry know about this alleged takeover? Of course they did. They sold out to the TV houses and that has become the Nollywood we now talk about. Nollywood now exists only on Africa Magic, owned by South Africans. Meanwhile, while we were struggling to put the industry together, they (South African investors) were not around, but now they show our Nollywood movies and play their country’s soundtrack. They go as far as try to bring up their new faces and play him up with a stupid star and try to create a somebody out of him. That way they are building their stars, Jacob’s Cross, Tinsel and so on. What efforts were made to preserve Nollywood’s integrity? At a time, Charles Novia came boldly to say that very soon all the stars would be gone. This was because he knew what they had done. They had mortgaged the future of the industry making cheap benefits. There was a time we attended a conference in South Africa and these people (South Africans) were inquisitive, probing and wanting to know about how we make our movies. While I was speaking like a patriotic Nigerian, arguing against letting our strategies out, some of my colleagues quietly sold out, exchanging cards and numbers with them. Unknown to them, they were selling out. When I said then that Africa Magic was ripping actors and producers off, people said I was crazy, some of my colleagues were paid to put up words against my claim. Now, plenty of them have been forced out of the job, because people who pay and invest in the movies are no longer in business Were the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Association of Movie Producers and Directors Guild of Nigeria not aware of these developments? It got to a point all efforts to salvage the situation became impossible because there was so much politicking going on. First, their content provider, Emeka Mba was lobbied to become the DG of the Censorship board, not forgetting he was one of those who brought them into Nigeria. Mba’s position paved the way for them and made their business smooth. They needed to close down Nollywood to make TV more viable than it was, and that was when Emeka came up with the idea of every producer paying a sum of five million naira before their movies could get to the market. That was how it started and gradually some started falling off and a lot more were arrested for defaulting. Till tomorrow, I will keep calling Emeka Mba a criminal and I’ll never forgive [him] because he destroyed the interest of the industry for personal reasons. He was one of those who owned HITV, but shame on him. Apart from job loss, what other impact has this alleged invasion caused Nollywood? A lot, and most are negative. Now there is no more Infinity Merchandise, P. Collins, O.C Affassons and other big names we knew in those days. Places where Nollywood movies were readily available, like Idumota, Oba Iweka road, and Pound road, Aba have been shut down, leaving only Alaba in existence. Alaba; a place we all, as an industry, tried to close down. The invasion has been on for a long time, it has put the industry in a state of coma, and has finally killed it. Nollywood is dead and this is so because we are never going to have a big producer roll out money anymore or visioneers bring out money to invest. What we are going to keep having are scallywags and cheap production assistants running around to see how to put ten faces together and see if they can make at least fifteen thousand jacket sales. But some of your colleagues seem to be enjoying the industry despite the challenges you have mentioned. Where does this place you? They are not asking the right questions. I stood as Emeka Ike and made over a million jacket sales, only me, without putting twenty actors on one jacket. The cheap illiterates amongst my colleagues antagonize me, and I don’t blame them; I blame myself for mingling with them. I look at most of them (colleagues) and I begin to imagine the content in most of them. Most of them wear dark shades and parade themselves like they are more than they are. What are they worth when they don’t even know their rights in the industry, but go about posing on red carpets with dark shades and speak [with] some accent that was never properly learnt? All those are cheap ways of life. These guys don’t ask questions about what we are doing as a guild or an industry, and the few that do are labelled troublemakers. That is the mentality in Nigeria. Gani Fawehinmi was seen as a trouble maker till he died, same as Fela. These are the people who bring about change in their communities. You vied to become president of AGN, but lost. If you had won, what would have been your focal point? I am still the president of AGN, the legal president, but because of my stand, it is difficult to let men like me survive it, because if we do, we will destroy these evil men who run the system. The same thing is applicable in the wider world; responsible men are running away from politics, which is why a lot of riff-raffs are making headway in it. We need to redefine what value is to us. It’s not the dark shades and the glittering dresses but what adds to humanity, and we should be able to draw the line between what is value and what is not. What is your take on Ibinabo Fiberisima as president of the guild? Her swearing in was illegal. How can she be president? Please tell me. There is a court case yet to be settled involving myself and Segun Arinze. How then can he conduct an election? Again, Ibinabo has not been cleared with the police. I don’t know what is happening. Are these things supposed to be? The president ordered that all recipients of national honours that have criminal records should be stripped of them, and that is how it should be. We should run things right, at least for the sake of our children and ones yet unborn. What would you say the guild is lacking? Leadership. We have everything right now, and the few idiots that discovered this have quickly gone to register the guild as their personal companies. Do you even know that the AGN was originally registered as a company for individuals with just five board of trustee members? Most people don’t know this fact, including my colleagues. These are the things we are fighting against. While fighting to remove these guys, they appointed Segun (Arinze) as their president. I challenged this and took them to court but they broke the court’s injunction and conducted another election. You see the gimmicking of old politicians? That is what we are fighting, not Segun Arinze. He is my friend, so is Ibinabo, but we have to do right thing in this country; that is the only way a future can be built. When did these problems begin for Nollywood? It [has been] from the beginning. I’m sure not many know that the first president of AGN, Remmy Jes, was flogged out of office by the board of trustees. They used cultism and all other means. This is painful for me because I am one of those that fought for the name. When you say Nollywood, you can’t leave Emeka Ike out of it. I can’t keep quiet, although a lot of people may because they are scared for their careers, but I am a leader and will be their spokesman. People like me, who have the goodwill of the country at heart should not be afraid of coming out. On a final note, Nollywood will be 21 this year. What do you think about its’ direction? Nollywood is not going in the right direction, People saying that are people who are just happy that they have benefited from it. How can you say an industry that has its structure destroyed is in the right direction? We already made an impression on the world. All that was left was the technical know-how and government empowering us. We couldn’t get that, but rather got big foreigners who hijacked the gold from us http://www./emeka-ikes-words-about-nollywood/ |
