The Spotter scouted: Nigerian starlet Rabiu Ibrahim Despite being yet to make his breakthrough into the full Sporting side, 18 year old Nigerian Rabiu Ibrahim is rated as one of the best young players to come out of Africa in recent years - no surprise when he's capable of things like this (Go to link and check out the youtube video) . Some are even dubbing him the next Jay Jay Okocha, with the youngster sharing the explosive playing style and of course nationality of the former Bolton, PSG and Fenerbache attacking midfielder. In fact, Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu reckons the youngster can go on to match the achievements of Barcelona star Lionel Messi. “He is a genuine playmaker, who with the right encouragement can reach the heights of top stars like Messi", Amodu told Goal.com. Scouts from top Premier League sides such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are set to watch his progress throughout the U20 World Cup, currently taking place in Egypt, but the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter are all also said to be monitoring his progress. Here, compiled with the help of our friends at Championship Manager, is our Scouting Report into the Africa starlet Rabiu Ibrahim Date of Birth: 15th March 1991 (18 years old) Nationality: Nigerian Club: Sporting CP (currently on loan at Real SC) Position: Attacking midfielder Transfer Value: £2.5 million Career History Ibrahim played youth football with Gateway FC in his native Nigeria. He moved to Sporting in 2007, but is yet to feature for the first team, despite being very highly regarded by the those in and around the club. He is currently on loan at Portuguese lower league side Real SC, where he’s set to spend the entire 2009/10 season. Despite being only 18 years of age, Ibrahim has been capped by the Nigerian national team. He was part of the Nigeria side that won the Under-17 World Cup in Korea in 2007 and is part of Nigeria’s team at the current Under-20 World Cup. Playing Style He is the playmaker of the team. He is left footed and is similar in style to Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha. Strengths Ibrahim has great vision and reading of the game, which has helped him develop a superb range of passing. He is a very technical player and is both very good on the ball and highly creative. Weakness The youngster still needs to work on the physical side of his game, at the moment he’d struggle to live with some of the games more aggressive central midfield players. What Next ? He has a contract at Sporting until 2013. Next step will be to impress enough during his loan spell to be able to establish himself in the first team on his return. He certainly has potential to become a great player and if his development continues at the same pace he could well be gracing La Liga, Serie A or the Premier League in the next few years. Mpele:Why is this one ranting? Egyptian and Tunisian leagues have top notch infrastructure, good pay and yet participate in the African Club competitions despite been close historically and geographically to the Arab world. While you're at it, why don't you pull out from playing in the African Cup of Nations? Silly twats! |
When Obasi's mates are hitting double figures. . .shioor! |

If I hadn't suggested to the OP to check out guys from the Technology boards, I doubt any of the regular posters on the Tech boards would have made the list. Easiest way to be popular here |
Missy B:Yes I have and a very valid and good point it was too. . Your own mouth like Philosophy board. Philosophy board ko, Atheist board ni!Rubbish idea! |
Science and Philosophy Religion, Health and the general Technology Board will suffice for the Philosophy and Science threads IMO. |
Most people making noise about Blackberry probably never used high-end symbian phones & phones on other platforms pimped to the fullest. Blackberry ko, Whiteapple ni! |

Sagamite:Easy bro. . .I never said or meant to imply Essien wasn't better. I just don't agree with the way you phrased it. Essien just edges Sunday Oliseh IMO, as in he's just marginally better and not far better as you put it. |
Yes. . .MOI. I guarantee you I won't break under torture ![]() Hmmm. . .looking back now, that Season 6 in which Wayne Palmer was President and there were suicide bombings all over America was kinda silly. Imagine a whole America unable to arrest the situation of suicide bombings and the President acceding to the request of a terrorist to hand over Jack Bauer to him (for execution) before the suicide bombings will stop? Shey e possible? OMG. . .laugh wan kill me die. |
Sagamite:Old age don dey affect you true true ![]() |
12large:You're a cretin who should be largely ignored cos apart from being an intellectual dimwit, you also lack the decorum and civility to conduct yourself on a public forum. All the same, I'm happy we've met on this forum cos u have expanded my horizon, enlightened me and made me understand why people could be pro-abortion. Let me leave you with this piece of advice. . . Never make the mistake your parents made which is by not making use of a condom during their copulation that resulted in your birth. Jeez! How I wish your mother had aborted you. Go hug a transformer or hang yourself because Rabiu Ibrahim did not make the team. . .obo oshi! Shioor! |
nearest:But really, how does this peace deal benefit the American people? President Taylor just wants it as a swansong and the hallmark of her presidency. Jack carry go jare. . . Nothing do you. A wise man once said, there can be no peace without equal rights & justice. |
Kgdavid:Can you imagine? Someone who has even failed to establish himself with the U-20's. I laugh in Swahili. |
Episode 19 promises to be action packaged. . .I'm kinda curious as to what Jack is up to and would do next, lol |
Much ado about being an Elder in this FTA section, lol. |
nearest:That was definitely Phillip Osondu and not Etim Esin. |
Omotara Johnson - Usually, I don't go out of my way to watch Nigerian films. In fact, I only got to see this film cos my lil sis' who's away in school and stays in the hostel came home and gave me her flash to scan for viruses on my pc. After scanning, I opened the flash saw the film and copied it onto my pc. Omotara Johnson is a Yoruba film subtitled in English and stars Bukky Wright, Toyin Alausa, Chidi Mokeme and Femi Branaird. Two friends (Bukky Wright & Toyin Alausa) meet a man(Chidi Mokeme). . . Chidi prefers Toyin and eventually gets into a relationship with her. Bukky becomes jealous, sets up toyin to take the fall in a financial scandal and gets her sacked from her job. . bla bla bla. Make I SMS on the story ojare. . .make una go watch am. My opinion of the film is: Interesting storyline/plot but film dragged and had some visible lulls. Story also had some twists as it had some surprises and wasn't too predictable. Continuity was on point, subtitling was ok (at least most of the phrases were not lost in translation) and Excellent acting by Bukky Wright, Chidi Mokeme and Toyin Alausa. For their acting alone, I rate the film a 4/10. . .which is a pass mark for a Nigerian film in my book, lol |
AVATAR - watched it and was like 'so na the film wey Nairalander's dey hype be this?'. Impressive characters but the FACT that the story wasn't 100% original (reminded me too much of Pocahontas) subtracted from it for me. Planet Pandora, the forest, the na'avi's, the flying birds and all the other forest creatures were impressively done but apart from that, the film was just there. Not surprised the film lost out to Hurt Locker at the Oscars 2010. I give it a 6/10. |
honeric01:I was only responding to ow11's post and asking questions. I wasn't the one who called him a dead ball specialist. |
Zenus. . .keep up the good work. |
