Quick tips for those intending to book flights this period: If you do not live in Lagos or you live in Lagos and do not mind some extra travelling, for whatever airlines you choose, compare flight prices between Lagos and Abuja airports for your intended travel dates. I discovered that with Lufthansa, flights from Abuja are generally less expensive than those from Lagos. I was able to secure a one-stop flight to Toronto-Pearson at 325k from Abuja as opposed to 390k from Lagos for the same date and time.
Also, if possible do not pay online. If your chosen airline offers the option, choose to pay at their office or through bank transfer. They would send you the equivalent amount in Naira. For Lufthansa, conversion was done at about 199 naira to the dollar, which I think is quite fair. There is a good chance that you would pay at a higher conversion rate is you choose to pay with your bank issued cards. That's all. Thanks. |

Diamonds5050: I got my admission docs late, going for a Postgraduate prog for fall, I have made tuition payment of $10 out of $15k, I wanna sponsor myself, I'm employed and also have a small business enterprise, please I need to know what documents to get for self sponsorship, thanks You would need your tuition payment receipt, bank statement of account for at least 4 months, evidence of business registration, evidence of tax payment, proof of other assets you may possess, such as landed properties, shares certificate, etc. If you intend to make fall semester, you should hurry. Time is not on your side. If possible, you may consider deferring your admission to a more convenient time to give your application room to breathe. |

toluine56: case by case basis boss. This VOs might b adopting new techniques, who knows? Think of it that way. I understand your point, but no they do not, absolutely do not, request your current bank account details from your bank without your consent. The farthest they would go is verifying that the statement of account submitted is genuine. This is true for all cases. Believe that and let's please stop the conspiracy theories. It detracts from finding the real solutions to issues. |

TempusQ: Oh, that's crazy ... What the hell is happening ... Does that mean you didn't pass the medicals or something I guess your sponsor withdrew a huge some of money from his account after the medical call, thereby, giving them the impression that the cash is not available for your studies. Damn... If the person failed medicals, I'm sure they would have ticked something to that effect as the reason for denial, as opposed to insufficient funds. Also, speaking from my own experience, withdrawal from an account before or after med call is not a reason for refusal. I hate to think that it's possible the medical requests were sent in error, because these CIC guys are supposed to be perfect and do all those attention-to-detail stuff, right? Or perhaps it was the denial message that was sent in error. Or perhaps there is a new twist in the procedure and this is perfectly normal. The best way to find out is to make contact with the agency and try to get answers. |

ahyotomiwa: @ funmi...have u paid any tuition?...and was dere still money in ur sponsors acct( frm d period u did meds to date) ...up to the amt u claimed available...based on the info i got from a guy...after dat med e said e feels dey den tried running a check on the acct..but e has paid his full tuition and money rem was still partially ok..after 2 weeks of med dey approved his.#thoughts# I don't think that is the case. If they wanted to know how much money you had after medical request, they would request you submit a new account statement. Your bank would not disclose your account details to a third party without your consent. Personally, by the time I got the request for medicals my sponsor's account had been thoroughly depleted that if people were denied for that reason I would probably have been first in line. I feel like time should not be spent speculating and guessing what the problem could be. Those affected should contact CIC immediately to get some clarification. Hopefully it was a mistake. But if not, they would get a better sense of where the problem may have come from. |

Graviton2: I applied via paper route and owing to some confusion on my part, I did not fill the study permit form and attach it with my app. Largely because when I applied via online route I wasn't required to present the form.
I had to fill the questionnaire by hand, I did this satisfactorily but not as well as I would hope...In my confusion, I made a slight error on the date of my graduation from a program I did after high school. I also forgot to tick "study permit" on the document checklist because I had thought I won't be submitting the study permit form.
I feel like I have put myself in a stitch right now. Will these oversights disturb my app? I don't think so. Don't sweat it. I made a couple little mistakes with my application as well, though I submitted online, and they didn't affect the outcome. As long as the major requirements are in order, I think you're good. |

Royalkid: Good day house,
I am one of so many other silent members of this wonderful forum. Its funny how this is m 1st post even though i have followed from part 6. To be very honest , after reading over a thousands of pages i had no questions. From getting my admission to getting medical call today, I got everything i needed on this platform ( I decided to say that because of people that want to travel for master's but will come and ask "which school in Canada offers Msc. Finance" lol).
My sincere appreciation to everyone who has made a post on this thread (part 6 in particular), your questions and answers (structured/unstructured) provided valuable insight to certain matters and I implore all newbie to take time out to read some of those pages like I did. Big ups to all the gurus that came through from @pchax@mrnilobrawn@mevisbleek,@onyeoma@standupguy@justwise@Tnuola to new guys @team12@serasera@kfrosh can’t mention all. But I really appreciate. lucky032: You're correct. This silver spoon born people discouraging others because they are made.yes,we know it's not going to be easy but that doesn't mean that those that went on a low scale won't still make it.Majority of those that make it there are still the hoipoilloi's why the so called already will be there, being too lazy to work. No point getting all bitter, friend. I don't know your religious bias, but permit me to use this apology. When David was about to go fight Goliath, naturally he was discouraged by his family and even by the king. Would you say they discouraged him because they didn't want him to be great? The advice given here, like those given to David, was given out of concern and love and should be received in good faith. In the end David chose to fight and he became victorious. On the other hand, he may also have died and his bravery then would be foolishness. You have your own choice to make. That choice, as well as the consequences following from that, is entirely your responsibility. |

Maybe helpful if you are coming up with a shaking SOA I understand your logic and I hope the VOs see it the same way. Me just thinks the simpler and to-the-point an application is, the better. Different strokes for different folks I guess. |

You're not required to discuss your housing arrangements during the application process. Why even bring it up?? You may just be complicating an otherwise simple application.
