I like your determination. This is definitely not over. You may want to consider University of Victoria and University of Ottawa for Masters' admission. They have been known to accept candidates with 2.2 for graduate studies.

Question for the house: my sister is starting her MSc program in January and she already got her TRV, while my brother is yet to apply for his TRV to start a PGD program in January as well. They have the same sponsor with sufficient funds.

Do you guys think it creates a bad impression that my brother is trying to go to Canada at the same time as my sister? I am paranoid that the VO may see it as a desperate attempt to go with my sister. Fyi their schools are 550km apart. Would it look better if he deferred his admission to May (but still apply for TRV in September)?

I agree with the opinion of others that it is not necessary to defer in this case. As regards stating dependents, I don't think it matters as much as we may want to think it does. In my case, my sponsor had a few too many dependents for his account balance that we were paranoid that stating this explicitly would not be good for our case. So we left it out. And that turned out to be just fine. In your case, since the sponsor is financially equipped to take on the responsibility, I don't think it would hurt to state it, if he/she wants to. It's just a matter of preference. Either way is fine in my opinion.

No, you don't. A signed letter is all you need.

Hmm... in earlier parts of this thread there were several applicants whose sponsors transferred one year's "living expenses" funds into the applicant's dom account, yet I've not come across a scenario in which the VO had a problem with this so long as both the sponsor and applicant clearly explained the justification for said funds transfer.

I am planning to implement this strategy (though I would accept a superior suggestion) because the sponsor's funds are neither in Naija nor in Canada. This @ayooluwatoni question and my response to it caused me to become even more suspicious that VOs sometimes prejudice applications in which the sponsor's funds are not in either country.

Additionally, my brother's SOA is really low and we decided we would provide to him through his dom account the amount for one year's living expenses in Canada (in the sponsorship letter and SOP, sponsor and applicant would respectively explain that funds are for living expenses).

I don't think it is an issue also, especially since it was exactly the same strategy you used in your sister's application and received a favorable response.

You don't need to put the full address on top of any of the letters you submit. In my opinion it is a waste of valuable space.
All you need to do is write "High Commission of Canada, Accra" and then "Dear Visa Officer," on the next line. No need to put any address details, I think it is redundant . In my sister's app this is what we did. For the SOP, we didn't address it to anyone... we just titled it "Letter of Intent". It is the content of the letter that matters imho, it is obvious who the reader is.

Oh OK, that makes a lot of sense.

You're welcome. If you're talking about letters like SOP, Sponsorship letter, etc. you should address them to the Visa Officer, High Commission of Canada and not to VAC. VAC is more-or-less a collection and dispatch agent, all of the real magic happens at the Commission.

I'm not sure what you mean by address. If you're referring to the address of the high commission, I think you should use the one for Abuja and not Lagos. You can google it out. As for the police character certificate, it is not compulsory, but if you really want to include it and cannot come to Lagos, people have said it is possible to have your state command forward your request to the Lagos command and have it delivered back in a couple of days.

OK, I sort of get your point. My own thing is, many of the ideas you put up there involve adding documents that are either unverifiable or falsified. And that could be a problem.

*gather some men, and kids, stay on the street n take a picture and write "community development project 2012"

Include it in your sop,that you went to oversee a project and you realized you needed more international exposure as the project management world is evolving by the minute

Also they are boys that do the whole thing for a fee! You'll get stamped entry and departure of 4 countries (ghana, togo, cote dvoir, benin)

Means that if you're on an 8 month lease for example, your first and last month's rent would be payment for the 1st and 8th month. You pay subsequent month's rent at the beginning of the month. You do not have to pay all at once. A lease means you're legally agreeing to rent the place for the duration of the lease. If you decide to leave before the expiration of the lease, you'll be legally obligated to fuffill the terms of the lease anyway, such as paying off the remaining month's rent.

I see your point, but thing is, as you know, the IT field is vast and very diverse. And frequently changing too. What was hot 5 years ago may not be so hot today and may be totally extinct tomorrow. My point is IT professionals are always in demand, it is the skill-set required by employers that is constantly changing. if one knew SharePoint 5 years ago for example, today he/she should also be conversant with emerging technologies like Node.js, Angular and what-not, so that when demand falls for one skill-set and rises for another, he/she would be in prime position to take advantage of the situation. The key, I think, is for IT professionals to always keep in sync with current trends and continuously reinvent themselves, so as to be relevant.

Then again you're the one on ground over there and I'm yet to be on my way. You have the physical, practical view and I can only resort to statistics and my own personal Nigerian experience to muster some sort of defense. So allow me to borrow your words: You could very well be right and I could be wrong.

Nope, the colleges are great for Technical stuff and you really learn and get busy with learning, however, i am sure there are some employers that would request for a degree in that program..... But my advice will be if you decide to go to a college, try and further upon completion.

Regarding best place to be, at the moment Alberta is losing jobs and that wont be enough for you to decide not to go there, i am sure Alberta will rise again, because Oil will not be down forever, with the rise of oil demand, Alberta will run the nation again, but mind you, you couold school in BC and still be able to go and get a job in Alberta, if you are good and able to market yourself well . . .A good Resume is all that matter, with God on your side and being able to sell yourself.

Which of the 2 is better? There are so many applications being developed today that is making the jobs of computer programmers not that much out there because many people can do their own development these days, just like web development , , , If you are able to get something that adds medical tech to your program, please go for it, because Canadians are ageing and systems will medics will be on the high demand.

If I Fhemmmy have to chose among those two you listed, i will go for the later rather than the computer science . . . But again, that is my own opinion and dont know it all.

Thanks for this. I know it's your opinion, but allow me to disagree on the highlighted. It's contradictory to say on the one hand that there are so many applications being developed today and then on the other hand to say that computer programmers are not in demand, when in fact such applications are being developed by computer programmers themselves. People don't just wake up one day and become web developers or UX designers, for example. It is not something you learn on the fly. As a matter of fact, really good software engineers and developers are hard to come by and they usually do not last on the market. They are very much in demand.

And regarding your last paragraph, the man can decide to go for either of the programs. They are fundamentally the same thing. It's just semantics.

Good day my very good people. Please I need an urgent clarification. I am already swimming in the pool but, sincerely i have been applying for pnp and job offer to boost e.e point. None of the 2 has yielded result up till now. On a second thought, I decided applying to a cost-less university in Canada and continue my e.e things once admitted. Unfortunately, all univ. require the gmats/gre for admission to my field. Now I am thinking of applying to a college for post-graduate diploma (PGD). Note, not ordinary college diploma. I already have an MBA in business field though. These are my questions;

1. Will one be able to secure canadian student visa easily going by the above as compared to a university?
2. Is it compulsory i make first semester remittance from nigeria before i get letter of acceptance?
3. Is there any difference between letter of acceptance and offer letter? If yes, which of them is a requirement at the embassy.
4. Lastly, the account balance expected by the embassy for a student visa, is it to contain * Your total tuition fee or * Tuition + other fees.

Would appreciate succinct responses.

I doubt that all Canadian universities require a GMAT/GRE for your field, regardless of what that field is. Nevertheless you have chosen to go the PGD route, so to your questions:

1) No. Your application is judged on its overall merit. The only specified condition is that you're admitted into a Designated Learning Institution.
2) It depends on your institution. If this is a part of their requirement, you would be instructed to do so and probably wouldn't need to ask.
3) They are generally the same. If you've received both from your institution, the one that says something along the lines of, "...We are pleased to offer you admission into so and so program..." is the one you want to include in your application.
4) Your tuition plus other fees and then some.
