Lagos is a Megacity ranked 25th in the world. Cairo is 9th, London 17th, Paris 21st. Who talk say Lagos no be city? And those of u using geography to rank a city as large should go and sleep jare. Na by size? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_city |
How does the list of black celebrities make u proud to be black? I mean u could have stated other reasons to be proud. Wat about the white celebrities? Does a white man say "I am proud to be white", and starts listing Bill Gates, Isaac Newton, David Beckham, . . . . ? |
Do u snore heavily? Do u fight Royal Rumble while sleeping? U dey mess too much for night? Little things like dis can be d reason. Berra talk d truth. As u have noticed, alot of ppl here are willing to help . . . (Said with a smile, don't take it personal) |

Is it just me? Is it bad? I know it takes much of my time but Facebook helps to keep me always within my social circle, and Nairaland is always a source of new Information. Somebody pls tell me am not doing something wrong! |
fs:Nope! Am just saying living in Lagos takes ur perception of "doing well in life" higher. Am not sure wat u mean by "keeping up with the Jones", but if that means competition, then its a good thing because it kinda forces out ur best from within you. |
The good thing is in taking your education a step higher, it isn't called obsession. It is a way you can become more specialized and learned in a field, and perform ur job better than you would have after graduation from University. Why abroad? The education is better. Any more questions Ma? |
Lets not talk about "civilization" here cos u can get civilized in some other cities in Nigeria besides Lagos. But all u Lagos haters, wat you fail to realize is dat Lagos pushes ur target in life higher - academically, financially, career, social life, etc. Let me break it down a little. . . Career - U work in a Bank in Enugu, ur among the 'biggest boys' in town, and ur very satisfied. When they transfer u to Lagos, in less than 1 yr, ur aiming for an Oil company or a Telecoms company. Or at least, rise higher in ur bank so u can cope with ppl around u. Financially - U drive a 190 benz in Benin, no wahala, u dey form. U drive through Ore, Ijebu-ode, stop at OSU for one night to run things with the babes, ur such a love-vendor. U branch Abeokuta to visit Olumo rock, u feel so gr8, ur so comfortable wit ur car. Then u drive into Lagos, pass thru 3rdmainland, by the time u reach CMS, nobody go tell u to buy shades to take cover ur eyes make person no see u dey drive "common" 190 benz. Wen u reach Silverbird to watch movie, u go fear to park ur car. Thats a simple example dat will make u think higher financially, how to STEP UP a little. Social Life - Outside Lagos (and Abuja), wen someone has a social life means he sits down in a beer parlour every evening with babes. Nothing like Movies, Shopping or Karaoke. Career - 90% of Unilag graduates every year are planning to go for their masters abroad. Thats the idea dat the environment puts into u, and u think its d norm. Outside Lagos, 90% of the graduates are thinking about how to get a good job immediately after graduation. Thats an example of how growing up in Lagos, and attending Unilag can help push up ur career target. Me, I be calabar boy. I love to go home for christmas to relax, and breathe fresh air. The place is so neat, easy and beautiful. Even the babes fine pass Lagos babes sef. But, whenever am there, PEOPLE DEY DULL ME. Growing up in Lagos has literally made me Smarter, and I 'wake up' pass my friends wey grow up for that zone. . . . Eko ni baje Oh, ![]() |
tkb417:We don too sabi oyinbo for this our country sef. Broken no come dey sweet again. Wetin be interactive eh ![]() |
Which of the following is an Enhanced Oil Recovery process? A. Miscible Gas Injection B. Nonmiscible Gas Injection C. Water Injection D. Solution Gas Drive E. Gas Cap Drive |
The picture of the Goat on BBC news is different from the one here. I think the police have found the actual goat that committed the robbery, and this innocent one has been released. They must have seriously apologized for defamation of character. |
Hesperus:Live toasting on nairaland. This website is going places. Moonstone:U just got urself a new (girl)friend, Hesperus. Congrats! |
You "dated her for 3 weeks and she quitted" then you have a problem. But if "you dated her for 3 weeks and she quit", then she has a problem. |
If she changes the TV channel when Drogba is about to score. |
nuzo:With that, you would think you just contributed to the topic? |
Nobody is blaming the Multinationals for seeking the best graduates. Everyone wants to work with them, if I were in their shoes, I'd select the very best too. Nigerian Expatriates (If u mean Nigerians that school abroad) are better trained than their counterparts in Nigeria, so why wouldnt the multinationals seek to hire them? They are Nigerians anyway. The point is "Dog dey find bone to chop, fowl sef wan follow chop" Why are our local companies also seeking to higher Nigerian Expatriates when they do very little to contribute to their education. If they really appreciate good education, they should contribute to our Schools and Universities. Yes Nuzo, Education is the responsibility of the government, it is also a responsibility of corporate organizations - Its called Corporate Social Responsibility. And it is a fundamental value of every responsible organization in any society. In fact, from now on any company (whether local or international) that publishes any balance sheet or profit statement in any of our newspapers should continue in the preceding page with a statement (or list) of what they have been able to give back to the local community or society. That is simple JSS3 Social Studies. Haba! @ Hesperus, How far? I dey jare, av been seeing ur handwork here silently. |
Nice post. U stole my thoughts, and started a thread here. I wont fight you for that anyway. I have no problems with the Multinational Oil Companies. They are taxed heavily by our government, and yet they still come up with schemes that are targeted towards the Nigerian scholar. Shell, Mobil, Total, Agip, etc, despite the tax and royalties they pay to the goverment, they still come up wit various Scholarship schemes. Mobil has built a number of schools and training centers in Akwa Ibom state. Total started up a program with the University of PortHarcourt for training Nigerians for a masters in Petroleum Engineering, etc, etc. My Issue is with our own Companies. What are they contributing? Despite posting trillions of Naira as profit every year the best Zenith Bank could do is put up a cyber cafe at Unilag which isnt even free. Av never heard of GTB scholarship or Access Bank Highway. What is wrong with seeing headlines like "Glo launches research center for Telecommunications in OAU? It is hightime a serious level of social responsibility be imposed on these our companies. Sorry I dont write well, u get the gist sha? |
Kobojunkie:While ROFLMAO over "dogs, horses and vets", N2.7 trillion - (N172.7billion + N50 million + N49 million) = N2.53 trillion. What a way to demand for more more money by only stating what you intend to use 6.3% for. I agree with Reese1 with training and educating the Nigerian Police. The fact that the common man will have RESPECT for the police will go a long way in curbing crime and offence in a society. |
1. Sad story! Nigerian police in the negative light again in the headlines. How long are we gonna cope with this situation? The fact that I respect the Police of any country as law enforcing agents makes me wanna cry wen I read stuff like this. 2. But come to think of this, why na Daily sun dey first bring all dis kain gist? 3. @ Original Poster, wrong choice for the topic. Sounds like you are diverting the main point of the story to reiterate ur own perspective about men. |
Really do girls toast guys in Naija? Even if they do, I dont think they do it outrightly. @ Notice me! Maybe u meant that u didnt need to toast her to get her. And now ur taking her for granted. |
"Av actually been looking for a pick up line for u for the past 1hr, but I came up wit none. Can I just buy u a drink? U and ur friends?" |
Treetop20 and Toyinrayo - Ur both not just worth d effort. I thot I was gonna be discussing wit smart ppl, but from ur replies, Its best I visit other threads with intelligent people b4 am caught exchanging words with morons. |
Treetop20:You are so wrong there. Most of us are Graduates without connection, and pls lets not arguing or comparing ourselves. The present is so rosy, the future is . . . No Limits! |
Dr.Tony:Then what makes u think the person is lying? No need 2 be in doubt. Just believe everything you hear until there's a reason/evidence not to. That way u wouldn't waste precious time thinking about irrelevant things. |
IGWE_USA:Sounds nice. I will try it right away with fish peppersoup. Meanwhile, pawpaw with vodka is nice too. |
