Nairaland GeneralRe: PHCN/NEPA Electricity Supply: Any Difference? by Seun(mod): 3:22pm On Jan 04, 2006
I know that the power being generated is not enough to satisfy national electricity demand. In fact in the past month they have improved in my area, but the problem I have with them is that they don't announce power outages in advance.

Why can't they create a timetable to let us know when we would have electricity so we can plan our activities to coincide with when we know we'll have power? If NEPA (sorry, PHCN) can achieve this one feat, the entire country will become dramatically more productive.

This system of randomly switching power on and off contributes to laziness on the part of those who don't have standby generators. How can I concentrate on my work when power can be taken away 2 minutes after I settle down to work? (this is in Sango Ota).

CrimeRe: Wicked Brother Raping Timid Younger Sister by Seun(mod): 3:06pm On Jan 04, 2006
That's not pornography at work, Layi. 99% of young boys who have access to pornography do not behave like that. The boy is simply a monster. A real monster. If he grows up, he will be a very dangerous person. Poor parents.
ComputersRe: What Would You Like To See On The Web? by Seun(mod): 2:56pm On Jan 04, 2006
I'd like to see a widely used online classified ads website and an e-commerce site like Ebay which allows me to safely buy and sell anything online.

WhoGoBuy.com, previously discussed on the forum, is a step in this direction.
PoliticsRe: Can The President Fire The Vice President? by Seun(mod): 2:49pm On Jan 04, 2006
No, but the president can make him redundant by transfering all his duties to other people.
FamilyRe: A Guy Dating Me And My Sister by Seun(mod): 2:45pm On Jan 04, 2006
You are not a cheat but you are a sissy for even asking if you are a cheat or not. She slapped you instead of slapping the boy who was dating and decieving both of you because she knew you won't retaliate. She knows that if she slapped the boyfriend she will probably get a beating, so she decided to blame you for the situation as women usually do in their confused way of thinking.

Your sister deserves a return slap and if you can give us her address we will go there and deliver it to her personally. angry angry God, I hate bullies! angry angry

FamilyRe: Should Every Property Owned By A Couple Be In The Husband's Name? by Seun(mod): 2:27pm On Jan 04, 2006
Putting everything in the husband's name is very wrong and it puts the woman at her husband's mercy as well as at the mercy of the husband's family if he dies early. I can understand why the man would be comfortable with this situation - he has nothing to lose - but I can't understand while a woman will agree to it - perhaps she's misinformed?

The way my friend's parents do it is that her dad owns 50+x% of the shares in the family business and her mom owns 50-x%. So her dad owns a controlling share but her mom owns almost half of it. If her dad goes to heaven her mom automatically becomes the majority shareholder and hence owner. (So her dad's family members cannot claim ownership at all and even if they try my friend will haunt them in their dreams and tear them apart with her claws.)
Music/RadioRe: Words From Fat Joe to 50 Cent by Seun(mod): 7:59am On Jan 04, 2006
That Eedris is nothing but an area boy and he deserves any dissing he gets. Especially in this case where 50 cent was clearly provoked.

LiteratureRe: Publishing and Marketing My Own Books by Seun(mod): 7:27am On Jan 04, 2006
You can publish it serially on a blog or website. If you notice that a lot of people are reading it, then the book must be good, so you can go ahead and raise money to print some physical copies.

This is an interesting case. Why do you want to become a computer engineer? Tell me about it!

In your opinion, what does Computer Engineering involve? Does it go beyond what a computer technician does? Just checking!
RomanceRe: Can You Marry Someone Who Have Accident After Falling In Love by Seun(mod): 7:07am On Jan 04, 2006
All I can add to this topic is to say that people should be careful not to be involved in accidents. Some things are easier said than done.

RomanceRe: Can You Marry A Prostitute? by Seun(mod): 2:18am On Jan 04, 2006
What I am saying is that you might be so in love with a prostitute today, but you don't know for sure how you will feel tommorrow morning. So don't go marrying someone you can't tolerate on the long term just because you feel some 'love' today. If your girlfriend or boyfriend's sex profession really bothers you, don't marry her!
CrimeRe: Wicked Brother Raping Timid Younger Sister by Seun(mod): 11:49pm On Jan 03, 2006
Hmmm ... I can see that both of you are afraid. If you want to play safe, then
- invite your friend over to your house
- and then call the police.

The police will know what to do about this case because it's not the first time it has happened. Just call the police and keep us updated about your progress, ok?
Christianity EtcRe: Voodoo: Do You Believe In It? by Seun(mod): 11:35pm On Jan 03, 2006
Perhaps somebody added the tattoo to your skin while you were asleep, and removed it again later?

Here's a quote that illustrates why I don't believe in Juju/'voodoo':
A friend of mine was an intern at Bellvue Hospital in New York. A 28-year old man from Aruba said he was going to die, because he had been cursed. He was admitted for psychiatric evaluation and found to be normal, but his health steadily declined. My friend was able to rehydrate him, balance his electrolytes, and give him nutrients, but nevertheless the man worsened, insisting that he was cursed and there was nothing that could prevent his death.

My friend realized that the patient would, in fact, soon die. The situation was desperate. Finally he told the patient that he, the doctor, was going to invoke his own powerful medicine to undo the curse, and his medicine was more powerful than any other. He got together with the house staff, bought some headdresses and rattles, and danced around the patient in the middle of the night, chanting what they hoped would be effective-sounding phrases. The patient showed no reaction, but next day he began to improve.

The man went home a few days later. My friend literally saved his life.

Well I guess it is the icing on the cake, but not the cake. Emotions are very volatile. You can be so in love in the morning and at war in the evening.

RomanceRe: Can You Marry A Prostitute? by Seun(mod): 11:05pm On Jan 03, 2006
Don't marry for love. If you do, you wil divorce for hatred! Marry someone that shares your dreams and values and builds you up. Some people should not be married at all because they are just not suitable for marriage.
CultureRe: Google In Igbo Language by Seun(mod): 10:15pm On Jan 03, 2006
Yes, there is a google in yoruba. There's also an on-going effort to translate more google services to Hausa and Yoruba. Unfortunately, Igbo is not being recognizd as a major Nigerian language yet.
