Yungkid101:Is there something I can do to disable the mobile handheld mode on Opera? |
ujiriukiri:why? |
Yungkid101:Have Nigerians not sinned against God? I hope you don't mean to tell us that Liberians are more sinful than Nigerians, because that's ridiculous. I can remember late december 2013 before new year celebration. Pastor E.A Adeboye sent message to all RCCG parishes world wide that we should participate in a 100 days fasting because God showed him that something strange will happen in the year 2014 (Which is the EBOLA OUTBREAK).Based on your story, the Liberian RCCG parishes also prayed and fasted. Why didn't God answer their prayers and spare their country? What is the purpose of fasting for 100 days if the disaster the prayer was meant to prevent still happens? That suggests that fasting doesn't work. |
Yungkid101:Your pastor has brainwashed you and turned you into his personal rottweiler. Jesus repeatedly criticised the pastors of his time; the pharisees. |
Yungkid101:But the Liberians also prayed. Why weren't their prayers answered? Our government treated the Ebola situation more seriously because, from Liberia's experience, they knew what would happen if they didn't. We also got lucky that the first doctors to encounter it handled it quite well. |
stpaul48:That's a mistake. A simple google search would have led you to the correct threads: https://www.nairaland.com/2398436/horrible-experience-inspired-autos https://www.nairaland.com/2555317/fraudulent-activities-inspired-autos-update https://www.nairaland.com/2102892/funny-activities-inspired-autos-fake We are not responsible for your failure to perform a simple google search before entering a transaction with someone on a different platform. |
Yungkid101:Actors. People who think their dreams are real because they have been told so by their pastors: "If you fly in your dreams, you are a witch" |
rosalieene:Please tell us the story as soon as you can. raindodger13:Please share your personal experience with us as soon as you can. |

ever811:Bill Gates is trying to eradicate malaria. That's meaningful, isn't it? If he can achieve it then on his deathbed he can say to himself, "I did good". |
naijadeyhia:False. I will teach them critical thinking, but I won't stop them from going to church if they choose to. The most grounded atheists are those who have tried religion and consciously abandoned it because they observed its flaws closely. My kids will all become atheists eventually. Assuming you marry an Atheist lady and along the line she gets born again would you divorce her? This is difficult to imagine, but it can happen if she's an atheist but not a rationalist. Such people don't believe in God but believe in astrology, mediums, homeopathy, spiritual energy, karma, the power of positive thinking, etc which are also not real. I hope to marry a rationalist. |
holuwatobhy:Those are the same answers I get without praying. Sometimes I get what I want, and sometimes I don't. So why bother with prayer? |
Omotayor123:It would be unwise if the marriage is meant to be a life partnership. Imagine sharing a serious problem with your wife and instead of something sensible she tells you that demons are responsible and the solution is prayer and fasting. Or worse, she deliberately offers no support because she thinks the problem may drive you back to God. She'll try to use 'the rod' to force the children to go to church because the bible says so. If you decide to adopt a black cat and an owl, she'll say "over my dead body" because she thinks they can be used by witches to harm the family. Worst of all, when we are free, instead of using the time for acrobatics, she may use it for prayer and fasting and seeking the 'face of God'. ![]() |
promise10:That's a silly thought. Religion doesn't give meaning to life; people do. People choose to use their lives for meaningful and fulfilling things. Religion teaches that the purpose of life is to die and go to paradise where you get to spend the rest of eternity praising God. How boring. |
If you say they saw you as a lost cause and focused on protecting your siblings I am sure when you become a parent you would understand why they did that...until you do then do not say you are a lost cause to them plus even if you were so in their eyes you are not in Gods eyes.I am certainly a lost cause to religion. There's no question about that. I am grateful that they gave up on trying to force me to be a Christian. |
naijadeyhere: My parents never encouraged my atheism, but they ... decided to focus on 'protecting' my siblings, which was very smart. The traedays blog comment shows that I was an atheist long before 2005 which is when I started Nairaland. Why is donnie still talking? ![]() |
naijadeyhia:I stopped going to church years before starting Nairaland. My folks forced me to attend church and the daily family prayer time for a while, but when I started asking questions they couldn't answer, they stopped, because they didn't want me to influence my siblings to lose their faith too. Here's a thread titled "Why I Am Not A Christian Anymore" which I posted less than a year after starting Nairaland. |
Funjosh:How can I be easy when he is lying against me and also calling me a liar? |
donnie:It doesn't surprise me that you would make a serious claim without any evidence and insist that it's true. Thats how religious charlatans have always operated. However, I'm shocked that you got someone to believe you. I shouldn't really be shocked since I know how gullible people can be, but I am. This is why atheists must rise up and fight against the pervasive cancer of illogical thinking. When Nairaland crashed in 2014, we only lost posts made within January and June 2014, so it can't be the reason why you can't find the evidence for your bold claim. |
tosyne2much:I'll raise them to base their beliefs on reason and evidence, and I won't let anyone try to force them to go to church. Sundays will be for family interaction, not indoctrination. |
Pidgin2:What makes you believe that their activities are real? |
rosalieene:Does prayer actually work? People have been praying for the naira to rise, and it's not happening. |
Pidgin2:What is the basis for your belief that "real witches and wizards" actually exist? |
NgcoboP:I did not hide them. Here's one: https://www.nairaland.com/2913809/case-fraud-against-chucky234 |
donnie:If that were true, you would have posted a link to the thread where it happened instead of just making the claim. |
ikombe:But he wants an impure GSD. A mix. Is there a market for that? |
Why female? |
shadeyinka:We live on in the lives of the people we touched while alive, the people who we continue to touch with the works we leave behind, & our kids. I don't believe that my consciousness will persist after my brain stops working. There is no evidence for the idea of disembodied consciousness. |
ever811:As an atheist, you choose your own purpose. You make your own meaning. You select what is important to you, and then you pursue it. You plan your own legacy. This is certainly harder than going to church and living according to the teachings of your pastor, but it's more rewarding. |
HCpaul:We had to manage it for a while because there was no born again church in town. My parents led the children's church which I attended. |
If you've experienced witchcraft, please share the experience, so we can ask you questions to determine whether you interpreted it correctly. |
Christ Apostolic Church, Foursquare Gospel Church, Redeemed Christian Church Of God, and Evangelical Christian Union. All before Nairaland |
