felixomor: Will u enrol your 2 yr old daughter in a nursery school run by a lesbian teacher or a rather normally married one? Being a lesbian doesn't make you a pedophile or rapist. Being married does not mean that you are not a pedophile, rapist, or even a lesbian. Most gays and lesbians in Nigeria eventually marry the opposite sex, which results in further propagation of the gay genes, ironically. |

In Jesus name Amen. "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6:5-6. |

Empiree: case close. Christians still killing Those killings you speak of are not being done in the name of Christianity. I've not heard or seen any American soldier shouting " Jesus is Lord!!" just before shooting a Muslim for being a Muslim. Even in wars were the west is partly to blame, the vast majority of the Muslims killed have been killed by other Muslims rather than the Americans or NATO or Russia. You could say that muslims are killing muslims using weapons made by Christians. That's more accurate. |

Here's one: “But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared. - Deut 18:21-22

What supernatural experiences did you experience at Dunamis that changed your mind? Would you become an atheist if we could demonstrate that your experiences were purely psychological? |
Christianity Etc › Re: What Is The Point Of Living If We Are Just Going To Die ? by Seun(mod): 3:38pm On Nov 10, 2016 |
finally1: I can't seem to find the motivation to try anymore. I think of it like this: Even if I make it in life make a ton of life-long friends, meet an amazing girl and fall madly in love, start a family, get a career I enjoy, buy a nice house, and die happily and peacefully at an old age, what's the point? What difference does it really make whether I live the rest of my life completely happy or completely miserable? I think you're feeling depressed and I empathize with that, but technically, this is a stupid question. Being happy is an obviously worthy goal in life. It is a high purpose. The only higher purpose than a happy life is helping other people to have happy lives after you've gotten yours. Everything that matters is linked to human happiness in one way or the other. One of my problems with religion is that it asks people to sacrifice their real happiness and the real happiness of other people for the sake of an imaginary paradise. You read about people staying in abusive marriages for their entire lives because "God hates divorce", and you want to cry because you know they'll get no reward for it. I'm going to die one day and none of this will be of any significance. I don't believe in god or an afterlife, so I don't have that to look forward to. So tell me, why should we fight for a better future when the final outcome is the same, regardless of how we live our lives? While you're alive, being happy is significant to you. Helping others to be happy is significant to them, and also significant to you because it makes you happier. The idea that things must last forever in order to be significant probably comes from religion, and it's utterly wrong. We can try to build things that live beyond us, of course. For most people, this is their children and grandchildren. For Charles Dawkins, it was the theory of evolution. For Albert Einstein, the theory of relativity. For Alfred Nobel, the Nobel prize. For Steve Jobs, Apple. For George Orwell, his brilliant literary works. For outspoken atheists, a world in which more people are free from religion. But nothing lasts forever. Eventually, for almost all of us, every evidence of our existence will be wiped out. But we won't be around to feel bad about it. It won't matter to anyone. |

kaboninc: The West figured that developing a robust institution, a strong dynamic market system that can always correct itself is the best solution. So they spent time, energy and resources building, equipping and continuously strengthening systems that will be independent from the 'individual'. That is what is keeping them today.
We do not have that in Nigeria. That is why the CBN is doing what it is currently doing. And it can only do as much as it is limited. Isn't it the case that the the government's highly illogical interventions are responsible for the lack of a strong and robust market system? The government is like a parent who won't let his/her child play with other kids because he is wimpy. Clearly, such a child will never grow strong. |

Is it possible that the boils were caused by an incurable illness, such as HIV?AIDS? Might that explain why the hospitals later rejected her? The whole village heard confessing; youth wanted to lynch her but Oba prevailed on them because of her old age. She eventually died few weeks later. Were you there when she was confessing to the whole village? If not, who gave you this information? What led to the confession in the first place? Did she just wake up one morning with a death wish, or was she being beaten on the suspicion of being a witch when she 'confessed'? |

homesteady: Yes! Supernatural powers exist! I've witnessed it, and it's the only reason why I believe there is God! I would have long been an atheist.
In my secondary school, it was a small, Christian secondary school, so we all knew ourselves! I was in my final year! There was this girl in Jss3, she had a brother in jss1 and cousin in ss1 and their father is a missionary! He went to China, and destroyed some snake shrines there and he came back to Nigeria!
One night, when we about to start our night prep, the whole school scattered The girl was running and shouting China witch, it was very serious! The matron told all the girls to go back to the hostel, and she told me to tell all the boys to go back to their hostels, I was the Ass. Headboy! The girls were singing and praying almost all night
The next day, my class girls gave me the gist of what happened in the hostel, that her hands and legs were tightly jammed and they couldn't separate it, but after their long prayer, she relaxed and slept.
I saw the girl that day, they were taking her to the school clinic, she was not just herself, later in the evening, her father took her home! SHE came back the next day, everything had settled until around 6-7pm! This time around, it was her and her cousin that were manifesting! Shouting the same China witch and hands and legs tightly jammed! We still did not have prep that night! Around past 12, the matron and some girls came to our hostel to take the brother for prayer! It was during that period we knew girls were prayer warriors
The next day was our chapel day, 2 Pastors came that day! They brought the 2 girls out of the hostel, and after preaching, the Pastors started praying for them, they tried to separate their hands but they couldn't, the girls were making some strange sounds! They realised it wasn't a small something, so our principal told everybody to go back to class! Well, after the prayer session, they became well!
Before you think it was a planned drama, the girl's father attends another church(ECWA) different from the Pastors! So they have no connection. Are you saying that you believe this wasn't staged because ministers from different denominations can't collaborate to stage the supernatural? |

Yungkid101: Me, my aunt and two of her sons had gone to a church's all-night program late december 2012, it was their first visit to the church; the church was very big and wide with lots of crowd. After the pastor prophesied to some of the members (including first timers), he then said "there's a fair woman here, you're here with your two sons, it's your first time here, and your name is XXXXXX"
then my aunt came out and he began to tell both things only we knew and things we don't know about our lives. He revealed to us things we haven't shared with anyone and the signs and dreams we've been dreaming about attacks during that period. It was unbelievable because it's as if he's been spying and google searching everything about us.
And also my aunt as fallen under the anointing of God several times and she's a very devoted and prayerful christian right from her youth. Sorry, but this story has nothing to do with witches. The focus of this thread is to find out why people believe that witches and wizards are real. |

The mother recovered afterwards and She is still alive. There is no scientific explanation to link this death and recovery. Thanks for sharing this. (1) What sickness was your former colleague's mother-in-law suffering from? What sickness did your colleague's husband die from? (2) Even bad parents want their kids to outlive them. Why would an old woman sacrifice her own son when there were other people around? |

Omooba77: Witches exist. I knew an aunty back then in the 80s she fell ill shortly after giving birth, boils around her eyes. They took her everywhere, hospitals, herbalists. Everyone thought it was her in laws that inflicted her. She eventually died. Fast forward about 15 years later, a woman while dying she confessed why she killed her, that on her wedding day, she was served bone. The woman was her mum relative. True life story. So many numerous real situations. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have some questions: 1) What was the medical diagnosis of your aunt's condition which led to her death? How long was she sick before she died? 2) Were you there when the woman confessed to killing your aunt while dying? If not, how are you sure that it is actually true? |

raindodger13: I was sharing the Gospel with a friend at a party. While this was going on a little boy stood in front of me with this blank stare on his face. It was as if he was looking into my inner being. I didn't see when he came so it caught me off guard . I started asking him some questions along the lines of "whats's the matter" and "are you trying to listen to what I'm saying", but he didn't respond. Finally in my mind I said "In Jesus name leave". The moment I thought "Jesus" he said "I'll get you later" and left. An alternate interpretation is that he was just a curious little boy. That he didn't answer your questions because they were weird. That he left when he did coincidentally or because the expression on your face became mean when you were trying to smite him with your mind. That he actually said or meant to say that he'll see or talk to you later? Don't you think this alternate explanation is more likely than the idea that the little boy must have been a witch? Do you support the despicable practice of labeling children as witches? |
