I'm surprised to learn that people are still being abused on Nairaland without repercussions. You ahould report these rulebreakers by clicking the report button on their posts. Mynd44, what's your take on this? Are we failing to enforce rule 2? I hope not.

- Abolish the official exchange rate to end forex scarcity overnight. Let people buy and sell foreign currencies at the true market price.
- Abolish price controls on all petroleum products to end the issue of fuel scarcity permanently and encourage economical use of fuel.

How do you promote exportation? Provide free information to people. Remove all bureaucratic obstacles that would discourage people from exportation. Cocoa is still the largest export in Nigeria after oil. Every vacant land in the South West should be a mini cocoa farm. Also, allowing devaluation encourages exportation because it makes it dramatically more profitable.

Inflation is unavoidable in these economic circumstances. The government's desperate attempts to stop the unstoppable using highly illogical price controls on forex and petrol are just making things worse by decimating our productivity, which is far more dangerous than inflation.

It's just a clip-on. No surgical procedure required.

What an inspiring message for Nigerians who have to close their shops so they can sleep on queues in order to buy petrol at N300 per liter.

But actually it seems that the title of this article deliberately twisted what Professor Osinbajo said. The article only says he said IMF suggested it.

There are so many possible reasons. The most likely one in Nigeria is that the doctor diagnosed you incorrectly. Doctors often make mistakes.

Well spoken mr seun, but we are not yet in a recession. Our economy according to the last quarter of 2015 grows @ 2.8%. So although growth has reduced, one thing is significant. The economy is still growing @ merely 2.8%. Inother words, our economy IS STILL GROWING but @ 2.8%...... So maybe until we hit recession, then cbn will opt to tackle recession than inflation. We haven't hit recession tho

The 2015 data you cited doesn't prove that were not in a recession at this present time. First of all, it's three months old. Secondly, I think what you said is based on year on year growth figures which are a lagging indicator. By the time that clearly shows that we are in a recession, we would have already lost a lot of businesses and jobs and even if corrective measures are taken at that point it would be a long time before the economy recovers from the damage. When it comes to recession, prevention is far better than correction.
