Inflation is unavoidable in these economic circumstances. The government's desperate attempts to stop the unstoppable using highly illogical price controls on forex and petrol are just making things worse by decimating our productivity, which is far more dangerous than inflation.

It's just a clip-on. No surgical procedure required.

What an inspiring message for Nigerians who have to close their shops so they can sleep on queues in order to buy petrol at N300 per liter.

But actually it seems that the title of this article deliberately twisted what Professor Osinbajo said. The article only says he said IMF suggested it.

majekdom2:
why is it on FP then?

To get people to speak against it, so that when a Nairalander has the opportunity to save a girl's life in future, he won't think groping her is ok.

This is not ok.

It is bizzare that children should have their parents dna!

I think what they find bizzare is that God would share some of the worst qualities of his creatures.

Names can't have dashes.

How about when doctors give your a few days to live and tell you there's nothing they can do about you-
you pray to Sth. and presto - your body begins to improve. Enough to confound the wisdom of the wise? Chance?

There are so many possible reasons. The most likely one in Nigeria is that the doctor diagnosed you incorrectly. Doctors often make mistakes.

If you pray to the sky for rain every morning, a day will come when rain will fall. That does not mean the sky is alive and answers prayers.

Please read rule 20.

Hello. What's going on here?

Sorry

I think you should take a leap of faith and get another dog. Hopefully you would get it all right this time and it would live to a ripe old age. Truly awesome creatures they are.

I strongly disagree. If he doesn't know what's killing his dogs, he should stop getting dogs until he figures out what's going on.

Seun, Mods and all concerned Nairaland users, I think its time we start making amends, in its bid to generate traffic Nairaland is going down the line of cheap and fake bloggers, who carry any gossip whatsoever and force it to sell.....

Eyah.

The true yield on CBN website can be compared to interest rates on bonds.

Nice dog.

LordRegalia, can you post this on its own thread, so more people can get to read it?

Boost the economy with 350bn on one hand while increasing the cost of borrowing on the other hand.

Good one. You got me. I was prepared to ban someone.

Posting only the link without the content is diverting traffic to another site.

can I see the link in question?

Ishilove did not ban you because she is not a moderator. Your ban was justified because you broke rule 2

Well spoken mr seun, but we are not yet in a recession. Our economy according to the last quarter of 2015 grows @ 2.8%. So although growth has reduced, one thing is significant. The economy is still growing @ merely 2.8%. Inother words, our economy IS STILL GROWING but @ 2.8%...... So maybe until we hit recession, then cbn will opt to tackle recession than inflation. We haven't hit recession tho

The 2015 data you cited doesn't prove that were not in a recession at this present time. First of all, it's three months old. Secondly, I think what you said is based on year on year growth figures which are a lagging indicator. By the time that clearly shows that we are in a recession, we would have already lost a lot of businesses and jobs and even if corrective measures are taken at that point it would be a long time before the economy recovers from the damage. When it comes to recession, prevention is far better than correction.

Chukzyfcb:
The economy growth is going down, yet Inflation is rising. Despite the cbn's stunt in the past of reducing the CRR & MPR, so banks will be able to stimulate the economy by giving our loans @ a lower rate, it didn't work! So what we have is STAG-FLATION.....CBN had to pick their battle, they either fight inflation or improve growth...at the moment, fighting Inflation seems to be what's on their agenda based on this news #Not an economist by the way

Then I think they made the wrong choice. When you have to choose between inflation and avoiding a recession, you should avoid the recession. Inflation is when your salary can't buy what it used to buy. Recession is when you have no job, and your wife has no job, and your parents have no job, and everyone is broke and businesses are winding down and sacking people. Inflation is a mild annoyance compared to a recession.

Did Bill Gates actually say these things? I doubt it.
