You are still saying the same thing I'm saying but from another angle.

From what I said earlier, if we produce our own needs we wouldn't need to import goods to meet our needs. From the goods we produce we will then export them.
What we are saying is very similar but there's a subtle distinction which I think is very important, and policy makers are missing. The fall of the naira is a double-edged sword. The increased cost of importation is a disadvantage while the increased profitability of exportation is an advantage. It will deliver a net benefit to us if and only if we export more. Instead of seeing importation as a bad thing which should be reduced, I see it as a good thing which should be increased, but we can't afford to increase it unless we increase our exports dramatically.

GenOrumov:
Part of the reasons the value of our currency is rapidly dropping in the parallel market is because of the importers who bring in just about anything into the country since we hardly produce anything but rely on goods from outside. If the naira keeps falling at this rate, those importers will have no choice but to halt the importation of goods which will thus force us to produce them locally since we can't import finished goods from outside into the country anymore.
Until we start manufacturing/producing everything we need internally to meet our demand, the naira will keep falling.
True, but the problem isn't importation; it's the lack of exportation of goods apart from oil. Importation is like spending while exportation is like earning. Spending money is not bad, that's how you get the goods you need, but you need to earn money before you can spend it. In the same way, importation isn't bad, but you need to export many goods so you can earn enough forex to be able to import the goods you need. To me, the weakening naira is beneficial, not because it makes importation more expensive, but because it makes exportation more profitable.

The exchange rate policy.
Which one? Preventing people from making online payments? Nairaland almost got into trouble over a $200 payment that they blocked. $200!!

Christianity EtcRe: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Seun(mod):
Three more proofs of God's existence:

1. We all know that flying is impossible. If you jump off a tall building while flapping your arms like a bird, you'll fall and die. If humans cannot fly, why is it that birds which are dumber and not as strong as us are able to fly? There is only one satisfactory explanation. Birds can fly because an intelligent being with many hands grabs birds when they flap their wings, lifts them up, and takes them to their destinations.

2. We all know that breathing under water is impossible. People who can't swim tend to drown in deep water. Divers have to carry oxygen tanks so they can breath underwater. Yet fish, which not as intelligent as human beings are able to spend all their time under water and not drown. This miraculous ability must have come from an intelligent being who constantly blows fresh air into every fish's lungs.

3. We all know that sand cannot think. Sand cannot do maths. Sand cannot play chess. Yet computer chips, which are made of sand, can do all these things. There must be an intelligent being that possesses the sand during microchip production and from that moment conducts all the tasks of intelligent reasoning that computers, which are made of chips, made of sand, perform. An intelligent being who makes sand smart.

In each of the above cases the intelligent being is God. He holds birds in the sky, blows the fish, and makes sand intelligent like himself.

Oscar looks scary in that picture. Like a cornered wolf. Why was he showing his teeth? Was he scared of the person who took the pic?

Christianity EtcRe: Isaiah 45:7 And Atheists by Seun(mod): 9:46pm On Feb 12, 2016
It's sad to watch people trying desperately to make sense of something that just doesn't add up because they have been told that it's the truth.

UyiIredia:
But I must also add that evil can't be possibly a basis to preclude Gods existence. At most evil can only question Gods benevolence.
The God of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism is all-powerful and benevolent. Such a God cannot exist because of the existence of evil. therefore those religions and their holy books are wrong. If the Bible and Quran are wrong, what is your reason for still believing that God exists?

And it is a FACT, paradoxical as it is, that sometimes a good intent must use evil means eg killing a serial killer for murder which is wrong.
What is the good intent behind allowing the torture, butchery and murder of innocent children and adults by groups like ISIS and Boko Haram?
Christianity EtcRe: Isaiah 45:7 And Atheists by Seun(mod): 7:28pm On Feb 12, 2016
The simple fact is that evil came from somewhere. If you say that God created everything, then evil must be one of the things that he created.
RomanceRe: Submission Or Slavery? by Seun(mod): 7:25pm On Feb 12, 2016
amokeme:
"women, be submissive to your husband and men LOVE your wife"
Love is largely a feeling while submission is a practical act, so it's not similar. A husband can claim to love his wife while taking advantage of her submissiveness (if she is truly practicing the submissiveness, which fortunately is rarely the case). Also, the bible does not say that a wife should only submit if she is convinced that her husband loves her. Even if he is mistreating her, she is supposed to "submit" to him. That's bad.

KingEbukasBlog:
Define "submission " , pertinently . You might have a misconception
It means her husband has the final say in family matters. If they disagree on an issue and she can't convince him, she must do what he wants.
RomanceRe: Submission Or Slavery? by Seun(mod): 6:45pm On Feb 12, 2016
I can't believe men managed to convince women that God wants them to "submit" to men. It's one of the greatest cons I've ever seen.

Your dog is not lean; he's perfect, but you should stop mixing his kibble with rice. Feed him pure kibble, or rice and shawa/titus fish.

Rather, I believe in God because of my personal conviction that God (not quite like the bible God or islam God) exist
Where did you get the idea that "personal conviction" without any evidence is sufficient to establish the existence of God? From religious people you have met, religious books you have read, or religious sermons you have listened to. If not for this exposure, you wouldn't believe that.

What do you mean by "selling forex by auction"?
They should sell FOREX the same way they sell treasury bills. Offer a certain amount of dollars and let people bid the rate they want to pay for it. Then pick a winning rate and sell to all those who bid above that amount. This will support the naira to the maximum extent possible.

Well, they would sell to the banks tomorrow. Normalcy is being introduced

http://nairametrics.com/cbn-to-sell-dollars-to-banks-on-thursday/
If they are still maintaining the so called official rate instead of selling the forex by auction, the result will be exactly the same as with the BDCs.

davide470:
The ones they were selling at official rate caused the spread at the moment, so why continue?
They should have sold it at the real rate or by auction, but not at the official rate. But if they are not willing to do that, then it's best to end it.
BusinessRe: CBN Policies Made Easy by Seun(mod): 9:31am On Feb 03, 2016
Don't blame the BDCs for naira dropping. The CBN isn't selling enough dollars to meet the demand at the so-called official price, cos of oil price.
