The manufacturers were insisting on increasing the price of a sachet of pure water from the current five to ten Naira.

The proposed increment appeared not to have gone down well with the residents, particularly the low income earners, who had taken solace in sachet water as a result of non-availability of pipe borne water in their homes and surroundings.

It was gathered that delivery vans of the sachet water manufacturers that usually shuttle Ilorin metropolis to distribute water to prospective wholesalers, retailers and private users had, since Monday, halted the distribution in furtherance of their threat to downtool.

Investigations revealed that some wholesalers and retailers, who hitherto had several bags of the commodity in their stores prior to the latest development, had started hording them in a bid to sell a sachet for N10 when the scarcity eventually becomes more pronounced.

Soldiers Reclaim Seized Chibok Town - Abdulkareem Haruna
About 24 hours after Boko Haram terrorists invaded and took over the town of Chibok in Borno State, soldiers of the 7 Division Nigeria army had yesterday moved in and retrieved the seized community after a fierce battle that dislodged the insurgents, sources said.

According to villagers around Chibok town, a large deployment of soldiers were seen moving in from the direction of Damboa on Saturday morning.

“We saw large number of trucks filled with uniformed personnel moving towards Chibok; initially, we were scared but later realised they were soldiers as they did not harass us like the Boko Haram gunmen usually do”, said the source who spoke on phone.

The source said they continued to hear sounds of gunshots and explosion echoing in from the direction of Chibok.

A top military source, who doesn't wish to be named also confirmed the development to LEADERSHIP Sunday on phone.

“We have taken back Chibok town from the insurgents after some few hours of engagement with them. We have since sent them parking from the town; it is now safe for people to return to their homes”.

The security source declined going into details of how the operation went and the possible number of casualty possibly recorded.

Contrary to what many of you may think, I am human and I have my fears too. There were times I have had cause to fear and doubt because I am human but God always ended up disappointing my fears and doubts.

In one of my trips with the then Nigeria Airways, the pilot had announced, when we were already airborne, that there were indications that the plane would crash-land. Immediately the pilot made the announcement, I was afraid and as if that was not enough, he said there were expert firefighters who would put out the fire when the plane crashes.

Immediately I embarked on a quick run through my life just to be sure I was ready to meet my Maker. I also told God that I never knew this was how I would end my race. I was really afraid.
