Hello, I'm working on a modification to our rules that will make it an offence to disrespect government officials and call them derogatory names on Nairaland. The objective is to prepare Nairaland for a time when the Nigerian Government may not be able to tolerate such things. Currently it's against our rules to deliberately insult a Nairaland member, so we will just be extending this rule to make it cover government officials too. What are your comments on this? I promise to read all your comments, though I can't promise to reply all of them, of course. Thanks! |
We already have a poll on this exact issue. |
Redundant. |
timifakay:Aww. Nice white GSD. |
Let's stop being rude. There is nothing like "Bingo" breed. If you don't know the breed of the dog, don't say anything. It doesn't matter anyway. |
This lion was exceptionally gentle, so they had a nice time with him. Due to their lovely experience with this gentle lion they decided to adopt more lions and shoot a film about lions. Unfortunately, the other lions were not so gentle. They mauled many of the film crew members. |
chucky234:I don't understand what you're trying to say, sir. Can you please explain yourself more coherently so we can understand you? Thanks. |
havilla:Please read: www.nairaland.com/1859775/why-should-never-ever-sell You may need to do some serious screening to get the right buyer. You may need to check up on him regularly and have an agreement that empowers you to take the dog back if he's neglected. |
Nice dog. Why are you selling him? |
SuperMartins:Don't be cruel to dogs. Try to understand them so you can live in harmony with them. Don't see them as your "enemies". They aren't. |
Don't encourage people to breed dogs. There are too many dogs being bred by people who really should not be breeding dogs. |
Killer House Plant Warning Outline Message claims that an indoor plant that is commonly kept in homes and offices is so poisonous that it can kill a child in less than a minute and an adult in 15 minutes. The message, which comes with a photograph of the "killer plant", also warns that touching the plant and then rubbing your eyes can cause permanent blindness. Brief Analysis The plant shown in the photograph that comes with this warning email is a dieffenbachia, a very popular indoor pot plant. If the leaves of dieffenbachia are ingested by humans or animals, poisoning can indeed occur. However, this warning message significantly exaggerates the severity of dieffenbachia poisoning. Deaths from dieffenbachia poisoning can occur, but are very rare. Most human poisoning cases result in relatively minor symptoms and the victim makes a full recovery. @Etumgbe: Just tell your children not to graze on the leaves; they are not goats |
OjeriakhiVictor:Before asking that, you should first ask for a link that backs his claim that the AKC standard states that some breeds should be docked. There is no reason to dock a dog's tail. None whatsoever. All the breeds whose tails get mutilated look better with their tails intact. All of them. |
inspiredm:Bro, I hope you can plan to sell the iPad Air 2 very soon... |
FeverRay:This is false. There are no dogs whose tails have to be docked by any standard. Tail docking is actually illegal in most civilised countries. |
Dogsworld:That's such a pity. I hope you're not planning to put him down? If chaining him is the problem, perhaps you can rehabilitate him by chaining him inside the house instead of chaining him outside? Get a vet to look at him; he may have issues with pain that are increasing his aggression. If that won't work, pls try to sell him to someone who lives alone or keeps dogs for breeding or security work. If you can't find a suitable buyer, and he is to be put down, pls ensure that he is put down in a very humane way, by a vet. Don't sell him to butchers who'll club him to death. xanadu101:Yes, a dog will bite you if he feels you are mistreating him and he feels that he can't escape from your mistreatment. Our Lhasa Apso loved to sleep under tables and at the foot of sofas. Unfortunately, ppl kept stepping on him when he slept in those places, so he became very aggressive to anyone who dared to wake him up from sleep or approach him while he was resting. Somehow he got the idea that my mum was his enemy, so he bit her without provocation one evening and bit anyone who tried to control him afterwards. Growling and snapping at everyone. Eventually we solved the problem by not allowing him to stay in the house anymore, so that no one would step on him. And this really worked out well because he gets to play with the other dogs all day instead of sleeping in the house and getting stepped on. So the answer is yes, but it doesn't matter since you should not be mistreating your dog in the first place. Be a kind and caring owner, always. |
House-training my dog has been rewarding. It gave me an opportunity to strengthen his recall because I had to call him inside against his will many times. He's learned not to poo/weewee in my office after 1 "accident", but he hasn't learned that deserted areas of the house are off-limits too. I've been unable to catch him in the act of pooping in those areas in order to correct him. He prefers to go out to poo/weewee but if he can't go out immediately, he will poo/weewee in a deserted area of the house instead of holding it. I may need to create artificial training opportunities by forcing him to stay inside when I know he's going to want to poo so I can correct him when he's about do it in the wrong place. I swore that I would teach my dog only useful things, so I've taught him: 1) "HEY!" - to stop doing whatever he's doing. I use it to stop him from jumping on me or touching wrong things inside. 2) "Sit" - to sit, obviously. he usually obeys this and expects a pat on the head. 3) "Down" - to lie down. I paired this with pointing at the floor, which I use whenever he's confused. 4) "Come" - to come to me and follow me. If he doesn't obey, I'll start walking towards him and then he'll obey. 5) "Back" - to give me space, usually when I'm about to open a door. If he doesn't obey, I walk into him to force him back. I think "Drop It" and "Stay" would be really useful too, but due to his resource guarding issues and my busy schedule, I haven't really tried. |
martins0:It's going to be the slowest and least stimulating presidential debate in the history of presidential debates of all time. |
click2cbn:This same car or a similar car? How did the OP get the photos and what are those people in the photos doing with the governor's car? |
Any evidence that this car belongs to the governor? ![]() |
jacksonlows:Adopting an adult dog is not that dangerous. You just need to understand him and get him to trust you by consistently treating him well. jacksonlows:Wow, your dog looks great. His intact tail is gorgeous! Wish I could get him but my current dog would probably fight with him and get killed. |
You people really need to stop this shit. We had two threads on the same topic and so we removed the one that was outdated. That's all. |
DonaldGenes:RULE 1. Please post on topic always. Don't derail or tribalize threads. |
Thanks for your helpful and generous suggestions. We will surely implement the ones we agree with as soon as we can implement them. |
Report to moderator. |
Someone pointed out that aljharem wasn't banned for bypassing the spam filter to use derogatory words on the same thread last month. I've therefore also banned him for bypassing the spam filter to abuse someone even though the incident happened 1 month ago. I hope we're good. |
She said, "Seun has tried his best to gag anyone averted to Jonathan and his ambition with the mind that if he slams you bans consecutively for months, you will tire out and not return to hold brief for the truth." Being Seun, I know that this is not true, so it's false information. Rule 8 says, "don't post false information on Nairaland" so she was banned. We believe that the best way to deal with people who continually break our rules is to continue to ban them until they stop breaking the rules. |
