So kids shouldn't play outside anymore because of some dogs? The implication of your post is that dogs are dangerous to man and shouldn't be kept in the house!

Children and dogs cannot be trusted with each other. So if your dogs are outside your children should stay inside if there's no adult around.

Yeah thr's no doubt d owner takes full blame but question is now that the dog has already eaten a little boy how should they respond. I say shoot the damn dog.

the dogs are as good as dead if they are not dead already since the owner is in jail. Who will feed them and give them water? The police?

If the children are trained about how to deal with dogs then there will be no problem. Dogs have been protecting children for millennia.

1) Please post his age, picture, and weight.
2) Please tell us what you have been feeding him with.
3) Please ask to see the puppy's father and mother. How big are they?

Yes, all dogs look better with their tails, but breeders dock them anyway because they don't care about the pain and loss of function that results from the amputation and would rather not have to educate misinformed buyers who think puppies whose tails are docked are somehow better.

That's complete nonsense. Docking a dog's tail leads to no practical benefit whatsoever. It's just a misguided tradition that breeders perpetuate.

The dog will definitely have dropping from its affected ear if u check properly,all u need do is 1st aid which is actually the cure for it if u noticed and treated early enough.
Get a piece of white handkerchief,original dettol not its imitation,and water to dilute
Dilute as recommended and soak the handkerchief in the diluted dettol,remove and squeeze to make it damp and use to clean out all the droppings from the ears
You will have to repeat the process like 3ce a week until it stops shaking its ear and places his ears normally.it should stop in 2wks if u ave started early but if it persists get chloramphenicol ear/eye drops and use for the ears as prescribed.

Note: Your vet is callous or inexperienced,either cares more bout the money than the sound health of your dog.

Thanks so much. I actually got a second vet who helped us to clean the dog's ears thoroughly with methylated spirit and cotton wool instead of dettol. This alone didn't stop the ear shaking but when I sprayed him all with Fibronyl spray after the ear cleaning, he stopped shaking his head for a while. Since then, whenever he starts shaking his head again, just spraying his head area seemed to stop it. But when I could not spray him for a while, spraying alone stopped working until I cleaned his ears thoroughly with spirit and cotton wool again. He loves it, but the ear shaking keeps coming back so I'll start cleaning his ears regularly with dettol as you suggested; I hope that solves the problem permanently.

You get a hefty thumbs down for this post. All the blame rest squarely on the shoulders of owner. Those dogs should not be in a compound with defenseless children. Even the calmest dogs will attack if a child walks up and startles them. Children should be free to ride their bicycles and run around in a yard without the fear of being eaten by an animal. The parents of the child have no control of how the dogs are trained. The best they can do is tell a child to ask for permission to pet a dog before they try to touch it. human beings sign lease agreements not dogs

I think parents are responsible for the safety of their children. The parents could have asked their children not to play outside. Why didn't they?

More kids have been protected by dogs in Nigeria than those who have been harmed by them. This is the 1st case of harm I've heard about.

thanks, I started with canned foods (JoJo puppy) then fed raw chicken for a week but he added so much weight that the vet asked me to switch to dry foods so he can grow properly in length and prevent bone diseases, I went to shoprite Ibadan and could only get pedegree for large breed 12month+, so that's what's he's on now with occasionally raw chicken or fish

You could have just reduced the amount you were feeding him instead of switching him to low quality food.
