@ysalli: No. The only guaranteed investments in Nigeria are FGN securities (bonds & tbills) and they yield only about 10% per annum. |
alfaman2: Whenever I see yoruba people whinning because Igbo guys are doing better jobs than them, I can't stop laughing. Seun, first started tribalism by making only his tribesmen moderators. They nearly lost him his forum. Now he is employing Igbo people because if he wants his business to succeed, he has no other option. This is a completely false and nonsensical lie. I have never appointed a moderator to favour my tribe. My decision to appoint Ikenna351 is based on his passion for the cause. I just decided to give him a chance to do something about it. Daz all. |
You can buy FGN bonds with as little as 10,000 naira. Just call your bank and ask them about it. ![]() |

One of the benefits of the uniform price auction is price discovery. If I know that I will pay the same rate as everyone else, I will be motivated to bid the lowest rate that I can accept in order not to miss out completely. So the final price will truly reflect the rates that people are actually willing to accept for the given supply of tbills. When the rates go down, it means there is more demand, and when the rates go up it means there is less demand. The interest rates can be used to make investment and policy decisions because the rates mean something. The current auction format causes people to bid higher than the minimum they are willing to accept. It makes them bid slightly lower than what they think others are going to bid. This makes the cut-off rate completely meaningless, because instead of representing true demand and supply, it represents what some people think other people will bid. If the rates go up, it may be because of reduced demand, but it could also be because people thought there would be reduced demand. If the rates go down, it could be because of increased demand, or because people thought there would be increased demand. This adds a random error to the stop rate and makes it a less reliable basis for making investment decisions. The current system is good for insiders who probably know what the stop rate is likely to be, but it's bad for the rest of us. ![]() |
berem: What annoys me most is that the owner of this forum, Seun Osewa, will not say a damn thing!I don't believe in talking. I believe in listening and acting. So your opinions are very important to me. I'm watching this thread. |
You should not pay tithes with any kind of money. It's an Old Testament practice and the tithes were not paid with money. Also, instead of blowing all the money, you should invest it. See www.nairaland.com/investment |
@papillo: In developed countries, everyone will get the same rate, but in Nigeria, you will get the rate you bid for, which is wrong. |
Well, the number of clicks was less than it would have been if we simply rotated all the ads in a single Plan A slot, but I assume the clicks were higher quality clicks, so this is not about clicks but about leads and jobs gotten. We don't reveal click stats as a matter of policy, because we can't measure them accurately and because they can be misleading, but the winners can check their Google Analytics logs to find out how many visits they got from www.nairaland.com/webdesigners. I hope they will share their data with us. |

@stockbull: What is your opinion? Is the market real? No one except you has expressed doubts about the market on this thread. So you need to either explain why you think NSE reports and earnings are not real?? |
In the books, Jaime was incredibly ferocious during the fight. He tried to overwhelm Brienne with a rain of furious sword blows in every direction, and she spent most of the fight blocking and dodging his intense attacks and backing away. After a very long time - Jaime lost his sense of time during the attack - he finally got tired and she gained the upper hand. He was shocked and attributed his loss to his weakness as a result of his long imprisonment. Compared to that, the TV fight was boring. It was choreographed as just another Hollywood sword-fight, which suggests that the choreographers didn't read the books. TV Jaime is as funny - or even funnier than book Jaime. But he needs more fighting lessons. He is not terrifying with the sword; just cocky. He stood no chance against TV Brienne since they were equally matched in the fight but she was in armour. The details they got wrong completely ruined the fight for me. |
GoldPencil: Better? or ...Yep. But it could be even better if you used a bolder font and tweaked the words used. |
shigidi: My question has always remained, when exactly do you know when the market has bottomed out?? The current bears presents good opportunity, but at what point do you enter? What formulates the basis for such a judgement. The value investing answer to your question is that you enter when you find a stock that is priced much less than it's worth. Obviously you will find more of such opportunities when the market is depressed, but the general state of the market is not so important. If you buy a stock worth 10 naira at 5 naira, it doesn't matter if the price falls further to 4 naira tomorrow. You will still make your cool profit on the long run, when the rest of the market finally recognizes the value of your stock, and the price rises to from 5 naira to 10 naira - or more. |
