2buff: I really hate what this new NL thing is becoming.I'm sorry to hear that. I thought things were gradually getting better. There is just no organization anymore. Everything is everywhere. What? It looks terrible.Fair enough, since beauty is subjective. I can't order how posts come up in threads or filter out old followed topics from new ones. Instead I have to strain my eyes looking for one tiny "New" logo that doesn't even sort properly. What does this mean? The NL2 new logo is identical to the new logo used on the former site. That aside it seems this Seun guy isn't even that interested in gauging how the site members respond to this new look.We introduced the new site to Nairalanders 3 times before the final switch. He is obviously not too skilled in User Interfacing and CSS and such, in which case he should seek assistance with that, but in typical naija style, he wants to do it alone.Touche. Both of us can't really design, but we improved the design until it was alright. That's not how you behave in a community-built site. Please accept my apologies. Well, y'all will be seeing extremely less of me sha from now on . . . if at all. Nice meeting some of you here.Sad to see you leave, but we will certainly improve. |
Concurrency in the context means being able to speed up your programs by running them on more than one CPU core, CPU, or computer system at the same time. Python, my favorite programming language, supports concurrency for IO bound programs by providing threading abstractions (threads, locks, queues, event objects, etc). However, the Python interpreter is encumbered by a global interpreter lock which prevents CPU-bound python programs from taking advantage of multiple cores or CPUs. As a result, Python now provides a multiprocessing module that provides thread-like abstractions in a multi-process context (processes, locks, queues, event objects, etc), allowing CPU-bound Python programs to enjoy more concurrency quite easily. |
Cool. That guy has always been great. |
Never post spam on Nairaland for any reason. You'll get banned. |
Fixed. |
Can you post about 5 of such scam threads? |
We've been busy with NL2. We have to make sure Nairaland is alright, first. |
The only comparative advantage we have in healthcare is the money doctors who live and work abroad send back home to their families every year. That's it. Doctors based abroad have no reason to invest their brains in Nigeria. Nigerian doctors abroad are trained to work wonders with the best tools that money can buy, but those tools are not available in Nigeria because patients can't afford to pay for them. They are used to earning a lot of money for their work, but they can't earn such money here because patients can't pay for it. If they are lured back to Nigeria en-masse, most of them simply will not prosper here. So if healthcare is to become big business in Nigeria, we would need to have excellent local doctors. If our local doctors were very good, like doctors in India, Americans and Europeans would visit Nigeria on 'medical pilgrimage' to get more affordable healthcare. But our local doctors are not that good. Unlike Indians, our medical industry does not provide a comparable quality of healthcare at a much lower cost. So I disagree with the notion that Nigeria is going to make a lot of money from healthcare. It would require the consistent efforts of lots of business-minded doctors over a very long period of time to change this situation. I'm not holding my breath. |
Your relationship seems to be built on a shaky foundation: - You are insecure and have a kind of inferiority complex, which is why the Ex comments upset you. - She is not sensitive to your feelings, which is why she keeps comparing you to her Ex. - You referred to her as "a girl you're dating", even though you are about to get married. - You postponed your wedding over a petty argument. There will be many more fights if you get married! I think this relationship is not going to last. Better to break up than to have to get a divorce . |
What device do you browse with? (Model and make). What browser do you browse with on your device? |
To fix Notepad++, try the solution on this Sourceforge page and also upgrade to the latest version of Notepad++ for good measure. How would you rate the usability of Pspad relative to Notepad++ aside from the settings issue? |

It's live! |
That's not true. Services can employ a lot of people. Petty trading employs millions of people too. Anything productive that adds value to society can lead to employment. Employment is merely a side-effect of productivity, which is what we should be targeting. We don't have to be fixated on manufacturing if we don't have the infrastructure for that yet. We have to start from where we are today, which is better than many other developing countries, and progress pragmatically. |
bohboh275: The op changed the info i guess some people on here just want attention and they would do anything to get it even if it is posting false info. Here is a picture attachment of what is on wiki. The OP wasn't lying. Someone fixed the page after it was posted. Check the link up there |
Rogbese: The one thing that bothers me is the new search engine. Before, you were presented with a results list that you could then chose from. Now? Everything is pre loaded! If you search for cars you will be given multiple results of the same thing with all the images loaded multiple times. For those browsing on mobile, that's a hefty price to pay.Yikes. We can hide the attachments on mobile phones if that's what people need. |
Azibalua: Pls can some of us use the former versionUnfortunately, this is all but impossible. The former version runs on a different programming language (PHP) and has a different database structure. We will do our best to make this one more lovable. Many apologies about the shock and inconvenience of the sudden switch. |
Too cheap. :-) |
Why must we attract manufacturing companies? There are many many classes of industry in the world. If manufacturing is not attractive, let's look into other areas. Where our government is clearly failing, let's put pressure on them, but let's also be focused on doing what we can do without the government's cooperation. |
How about a safety tips thread? If you share your safety tips on a thread, I'll put it on the home page. |
It's not yet really implemented. You can unfollow a topic if you're no longer interested in it. |
We cannot revert to the old forum. It uses a completely different database, which is incompatible with the version we switched to. It's technically very hard to do and it would result in an inferior mobile experience. Our only option is to continue to keep tweaking this one until it looks right. |
Dear Nairalanders, I have to apologize about the intermittent errors we've been experiencing since we switched to the New Nairaland script. When making the switch, my estimate was that we would lose about 20% of our traffic on the short term, and hopefully gain all it back in a month or so, and I was prepared to take that risk. However, I never expected that we'd have issues with site uptime as a result of the switch. Most of the issues have been as a result of bugs pushed by me in the middle of the night when my faculties were not working optimally. I think we'd be lucky not to lose 40% or more of our traffic if this keeps happening. I hereby apologize to Nairalanders for these errors of mine. I want to assure you that my programming partner and I are doing our best to deliver a world class "New Nairaland" experience to you. Our ultimate goal is to make New Nairaland better than Old Nairaland, in every way, within a month. Thanks a million for your understanding. |
I'm overwhelmed. |
We're going to address most of your requests by the next weekend. Currently dealing with performance. |
Instead of complaining about what we don't have in Nigeria let's concentrate on doing what we can do with what we have. Every country in the world lacks one thing or the other. |
