CelebritiesRe: Kenkelewu's Death: Result Of Domestic Violence? by Seun(mod): 6:33pm On Sep 04, 2009
There appears to be no respite for popular Yoruba home video comedian, Babatunde Omidina, alias Baba Suwe, over the controversial death of his wife, Monsurat Omidina (Moladun Kenkelewu) as a group of women, under the aegis of Women Arise, have called on Mr. Supo Sasore, Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to conduct a coroner’s inquest into her death.

If he truly killed her, he needs to pay. He shouldn't go free just because he's famous.

BusinessRe: Naira To Exchange At N80 To A Dollar! by Seun(mod): 6:09pm On Sep 04, 2009
A "shock treatment" simply won't work.  They have to consistently flood the market with dollars indefinitely to make a difference, and that doesn't seem to be possible due to the lower price of oil and the reduction in our oil production capacity due to Niger Delta crisis.  If we can't boost our oil earnings, then we need to content ourselves with the the benefits of the reduced value of the naira - it makes exportation more profitable!

PoliticsRe: Ceo For Islamic Bank In Africa(Nigeria?) Wanted by Seun(mod): 3:24pm On Sep 03, 2009
Islamic banking can't really survive side-by-side with normal banking, unless imposed by force.
Would you deposit your money in a bank that offers no interest when other banks offer interest?

I'm sure parents can open accounts on behalf of their unborn children.

Also, technically, a child 0 years old is one that was just born.

FoodRe: Square Fruit Stuns Japanese Shoppers by Seun(mod): 5:28pm On Sep 02, 2009
With their 1-2 kids per family, how many watermelons could they be buying at a time? no more than 1 or 2 right?
I'm sure their grocery shops have limited space too.  You can sell more watermelons using less space if you stock the square fruit.  Also, the square watermelons will require less space to transport a given mass.  From the farm to the fridge, there are savings on every step.

Another possible advantage is that all the square watermelons will have the same size since the glass boxes used are the same size.  So when displayed in a store, they look very neat.  And they won't roll off the shelves.

but how much space does it truly save?
Let's do the math:
- Volume of a sphere 14cm in diameter: 1437.7cm2
- Volume of a cube 14cm in diameter: 2744.0cm2

In English:
A square watermelon contains twice the amount of fruit as a normal watermelon the same size.
So instead of buying 2 round watermelons, you can buy 1 square watermelon of the same diameter.
Since it costs twice as much, you spend the same amount but it occupies less space in your fridge.

PoliticsRe: Cbn Spent N100bn To Print N420bn For Troubled Banks by Seun(mod): 3:11pm On Sep 02, 2009
I dont think the money was physically printed. It was probably created electronically.
There's no way in hell it could have been physically printed.  It was definitely created electronically.

Some journalists are funny.  How did they get the 100 billion they used to print the 450 billion?  Did they print that too?  And how much did they have to print to get the money they needed to print the 100 billion they needed to print the 450 billion? grin

How did you come to owe them that money? Was it a loan? An overdraft?
Try to work out a solution with your boss and the bank, e.g. 50% salary per month.

PoliticsRe: Banks Continue To Undermine Naira Exchange Rate by Seun(mod): 5:33pm On Sep 01, 2009
You still don't get it.  Any "official" exchange rate separate from the prevailing
"black" market rate is an attempt to fight the forces of demand and supply.

The only way you can bring down the naira price of the dollar is by injecting more dollars
into the system.  I.e. increasing the supply to meet the demand.  End of story.

The reason the exchange rate is crashing is simple: the price of oil has gone down.
The CBN is just playing politics by blaming the banks. It's all about dollar supply.
