Too many guests. I don't like having to put up a show for strangers on such a personal occasion.

TV/MoviesRe: Why Don't The Film & Censors Board Know How To Grade Movies by Seun(mod): 11:37am On Aug 26, 2009
Being an all-powerful government agency, The Nigerian Film and Censors Board doesn't have any supervising body to tell them whether the work they are doing is good or bad, so they have no way of knowing how they should improve. The question is, "who will supervise the supervisor?"

You can post the nanny story as a new thread.
Personally, I find it distasteful.
All rich people started out somewhere, that is not what matters.

We have lots of problems but so does every other country.
The biggest ones we have are NEPA, tribalism/fanaticism, and open corruption.

chidichris:
i want to buy a yatch, who knows which bank i can get loan from to secure this yatch urgently?
All the loans involved in this debacle were used for business purposes.
That's why people are saying the approach the government is taking is too high-handed.
Christianity EtcRe: The Morality Of Murder by Seun(mod): 1:51pm On Aug 25, 2009
If you don't have to kill to defend yourself, then the morality of killing in self-defense is questionable.
I would rather have people armed with shields, tasers, stun guns and pepper sprays for self-defense.

Hmm, I wonder what's going to happen to the bank he withdrew 3 billion naira from in one day. shocked

If he was a performer, why has he not fully liquidated his debt before now.
Many businesses rely on revolving credit facilities.  Their debts are serviced, not "fully liquidated.

Please, does anyone have info about RAPSON (RISK AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION SOCIETY OF NIGERIA)? They are conducting an interview on Saturday in Abuja. I was invited but have this funny feeling about them because I had to pay N3,500 to them through Oceanic Bank. They say they have vacancies for 30,000 Nigerians.
Does anyone have any info about them?
Definitely a scam.  I don't think even Dangote employs that many people.
CrimeRe: He Was Shot But The Bullet Didn't Penetrate by Seun(mod): 3:13pm On Aug 24, 2009
Possible Explanations:
1)  Bullet-prof vest: The man was said to be security-conscious
2)  Malfunctioning Stun Gun/Tranquilizer: No ransom if kidnap victim is dead.
3) The simplest explanation: he was not shot. Rumor mongering is not good. Desist from it.

I don't know how old some folks were at that time. I wasn't much old then but i was always reading TELL then.
There was an OAU conference in 1997 and they had this picture of Sani Abacha there as pale as death. Then the news broke out that he had liver cirrhosis
Thanks for the info.

I thought the issue was whether he died of sickness or not. I am missing something?
Generally, when a person who is seriously sick (liver/heart/kidney disease) dies,
it makes sense to assume he/she died of the serious sickness unless otherwise proven.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Shows Yar’adua How To Do It; Even Abacha Did It! by Seun(mod): 12:39pm On Aug 24, 2009
Detailed information has been made available on his death, yes it had to do with a woman (his former girlfriend) who was given spiked viagra by a general who didn't know of the plot to kill him and not the Indian women story that the media fed Nigerians.
Can you point me to the source of this "detailed information"? It's not on wikipedia.

mikeansy:
no one is sure yet of what killed Abacha except members of his inner circles

He looked sick and pale in his last days but his death was not as a direct result of his illness

Some claim he died on top of a woman and used excessive steroids, others claim he was poisoned by the Bamayi's of this world after the league of generals got tired of his leadership style.

I think the truth about his death will be a subject for History students to study in 50years time.
Thanks for the info.  (I remember Abacha's skin turning pale like Yar-adua's skin around the time he died, so I assumed that was what killed him, which may be wrong, of course.)
